Odin ; The Allfather, the most prominent god of the Norse mythology, the god who seeks knowledge and bestowed knowledge to mankind. The God who spear headed the research of magic along with the Goddess of Love, Freya, and one of the most prominent practitioner of magic. He left behind his foot step and has been involved in major events of the Ancient world. Even in the modern day era his legends is still being sung.
So knowing that Odin, the most prominent God of the Ancient Norse mythology was a champion of a world tree, shook him to the core. Just the fact that he's been given the same opportunity and the same starting line that led Odin to be the most prominent God of his time, caused his heart to race.
"So, Odin became the most prolific God of his time because he became the champion of the world tree, Yggdrasil?" he asked with light shining in his eyes.
"Of course not." The world tree said with undisguised mockery in its voice, "no matter how powerful a world tree is, it doesn't have the capability to raise a mortal to Godhood."
"Then how did Odin became the most powerful God of his time?" he sai with a frown.
"Odin isn't the most powerful God, and Odin achieved his power through his mastery of magic and his weapon Gungnir, even if you were given the best advantage, you would still be overtaken by others if you slack off, just because you had a head start doesn't mean you would automatically become powerful. Odin just continued to build on his advantage brick by brick until it became an unshakeable tower."
Ken fell silent and realized that effort is still needed even when you were given an advantage.
"I see, if I wanted to grow stronger I still need to put in the effort to stand at the peak."
"That's right, if Odin had not continued seeking more knowledge, he would have been another unimportant nobody, instead of being the most prominent God of his time."
He stood up and said with determination burning in his eyes. "I understand."
"It's good that you understand. Now find a suitable land and plant me." The world tree said with an air of Majesty, as if planting it is the most honorable thing in the world.
He looked at the world tree with widened eyes. "Can't you find a place to plant yourself in?"
The aura of the world tree darken. "Am I the gardener or are you!!"
"I am, I am." He hurriedly said and run out of his hut. Upon stepping on the ground his vision suddenly expanded to a 360 degrees angle, he could see behind him and he could also see sideways without turning his body.
Shocked, he asked the world tree. "What happend?!"
"Stop being dramatic," the world tree said, "what you're experiencing is another manifestation of your power."
"What power?" he urge the world tree.
"Did you remember the object that was fed to you?"
"Yeah, the Mutya."
"That's the cause of this incident."
"So the Mutya gave the ability to see in a 360 degree angle?" he said with a stange look on his face. For a magical fruit to give such a lame ability was really...
"Bloody hell, are you an idiot?! do you think a Mutya is as common as cabbage that you can pick up anywhere?!" the aura of the world tree suddenly flaired, " the Mutya gives you an ability you desire, that's the cause of your nighmare, to determine what power is more suitable for you. Your ability is supposed to be commanding plants, but when I remodeled your body it automatically strengthened your ability because of the compatibility with your body. Your Bones were made by the world trees branches and my sap runs through your veins, if your body still isn't compatible, then I don't know what is."
"Since you know a lot, what is my ability now?"
The world tree gave out the aura of disdain and said. "Of course I know a lot," it admitted without feeling embarassed.
"After your ability was upgraded, it gained two additional power in its arsenal, that is, one; Link. Just like the name said, you will be able to possess any type of plant, sharing its senses, allowing to scout, peek and eavesdrop as long as there's a plant in the vicinity. Two ; Take over. This one allows you to take over the plant, controlling its movements at the expense of draining its vitality."
"Wait, are you saying that every time I used the second ability, I would kill the plant?"
The world tree slapped its root on his hands. "Don't interupt me and let me finish my explanation."
"Your original ability, Command, has been upgraded, instead of just commanding the plant to perform certain actions, you can command the plant to change its very nature."
"Wait, so what you're saying, is that if I give the command to the tree to become steel, then it would become a steel tree?!"
"Of course not, you're not a world tree so stop dreaming about impossible things." The world tree immediately shot down his fantasies. "And one last warning, don't interupt me again." The world tree slapped him again, this time in his face.
Ken rubbed his bruised face and said. "Alright."
"So, as I was saying, you can command the plant to change its nature, but it will not magically change its nature in an instant, just like what you said, you can command a tree to become steal but still have its functions as a tree. In order to achieve the transition you would have to cultivate the tree and continue to feed it with nutrients to fuel its evolution, failure to give its needed nutrients will result in its death."
Ken rubbed his forehead. "So where would I get this nutrients?"
"This is the most crucial and most important part of your ability. And probably the most stongest and weakest part of it." The world tree suddenly said in solemnity.
Ken held his breath upon hearing what it said.
"This is your Tree Heart ability, with it you are essentially immortal."
Ken trembled and started to hyper ventilate. Who wouldn't when they were suddenly confronted by such a shocking news, numerous powerful individuals, from rich individual to war lords, leader of a nation, kings and emperors have been finding ways to reach immortality. So hearing that he possessed the most coveted immortality, he couldn't be blamed for losing his composure.
"Don't celebrate yet, there's a catch."
The world trees voice brought him back from his revelry. He straightend his back and perk his ears to listen attentively.
"The Heart Tree would give you a near immortal body by supplying you with endless amount of vitality, granting you with an instantaneous regeneration, but in the case of instant death, your instantaneous regeneration won't be able to do anything, that's why I said near immortal. You could also use the vitality as a source of energy to use your other abilities."
"I see, I thought when you said immortal, no one could harm me anymore." Ken said with a red face. "Now I wouldn't have to worry about the energy needed and I think this pseudo immortal body is enough for me."
"I'm not done yet, this is probably the biggest weakness of your ability."
