Chapter 90 - The first Goblin war (13)

While Roschar's warriors fought their way through Norbert's territory slowly, Leonhard and Bog's warriors were only sweeping through the territory as fastly as they could. They wanted to meet with Randan and the others.

They had the task to go and see, if Randan had enough warriors left. If he could hold the wall after the reinforcement of the enemies arrive.

Leonhard arrived first.

He dashed forward alone and wanted to see how they were doing. But they had worried for nothing.

While many died, most were from Gargaschar's military. His Goblins and Hobgoblins were almost all gone. Still every faction of Randan's side lost at least a quarter of their warriors. It was still not as bad as Rosch and the others thought. They feared the worst.

Leonhard dashed down and ran besides Randan.

"Seems you got hurt? To think the one, who was able to beat me would get hurt that badly." Leonhard said with a small smile.

Randan groaned at that.

"At least you guys came. I thought I needed to treat you lot as traitors, too from now on.", Randan said, while thinking about Gargaschar. His face contracted with anger. But he shook his head and concentrated again.

"Where is my son and his soldiers? Does he know what it means to disobey me at such a moment.", Randan said further. He was really on edge after the betrayal of Gargaschar.

"He is resting. He went and took care of Gargaschar, while his soldiers are in the east, fighting against the Nightwalkers in Norbert's territory.", Leonhard said calmly.

"DOES THAT MEAN THE TRAITOR IS DEAD?", Randan suddenly howled out. His eyes crazed. He wanted Gargaschar more than dead.

Leonhard was surprised, but still grinned.

"Yeah, Gargaschar is dead. But let me warn you. Your son believes, that it wasn't Gargaschar betraying you. When Rosch arrived at his cave an internal war between the pure blooded Goblins went on. Something didn't seem right.", Leonhard said. He first didn't want to give any kind of information to Randan, but Vilcet was the one who wanted to let Randan know.

" Now this makes more sense. Gargaschar wouldn't have the balls to take over, while a war was going on. He wouldn't be able to lead and defeat the enemy. A fitting end for a coward.", Randan said thinking out load. He nodded and went to the others, who needed to know what was going on.

Leonhard on the other side did his task and slowly fell back to his warriors, who arrived a minute ago.

He now just needed to fight in a way, which would look good, but at the same time hold his warriors casualties to a minimum.

They dashed through one territory after the other and as the army of all the strongest warriors of the village dashed down the mountain, a loud sirene like sound echoed through the village. It was the sound for retreat of the Nightwalkers.

"Fuck those Nightwalkers. Who do they think they are. We only got a handful. FASTER MY WARRIORS. WE NEED TO KILL MORE OF THEM.", Randan shouted his eyes deep red. He was fuming.

But it seemed to be of no avail. On the southern wall, one Nightwalker after the other climbed that wall up. They stood their waiting for their comrades. Some even jumped down already, gathering in a formation on the other side of the wall.

They occasionally got one, but the damage those Nightwalker did on the Goblins was just so much bigger. This day would be a win for the Nightwalkers. With thas day they got even, because the first day Rosch and his alliance did a number on the Nightwalkers.

But in Randan's mind both days were a loss for his alliance. His rage only rose. He screamed and shouted for his warriors to go on. The disgrace today, made him almost mad. He lost to many on the first day and on the second day his wall got breached, while hundreds were massacred. Mostly females and children, which were important for his future.

He almost reached the southern wall, as the last Nightwalker jumped down and the wall was empty again. Randan's mind was almost bursting with images of him massacring the Nightwalkers, but it was just a dream. Now only the loss and rage inside him was left.

He walked up the wall, ready to look at the retreating Nightwalkers. He would hate it, but he had to go and burn the image into his head.

But as he climbed up the stairs, one step after the other, another sirene sounded. This one was different. It sounded more melodic. And with the sound of the sirene, the ground started to shake a bit. Hooves hitting ground thundered through the battlefield and Randan had to ran up. He had to see what was going on.

He stood on the wall, the sunlight blending him. His eyes needed a bit of time to recover, but as soon as he could see again. He saw a 50 cavalry strong unit marching at terrifyingly fast speed. They were about to hit the retreating Nightwalkers at the flank.

Randan was the one, who wanted the Elves gone right after the war, but right now his face had a huge grin on it. Almost happy that those Elves came here.

Vilcet, who was at the front of his cavalry unit stormed at the Nightwalkers.

As soon as they Nightwalker breached the wall, he knew he had to take them out with his cavalry. The enemies would watch the front gate, but just like Roschar's warriors on the first day, they put ramps up on their side and down the wall on the other side for the cavalry. Those ramps were different than the one they used before. They were made of big logs and everything was strengthened with steel. It was made to hold four white stags and their riders at the same time.

Those white stags, were bigger, faster and stronger than their cousins, who live in this region. The white stags were brought from the colder regions in the north and bred to perfection. Each one weights over half a ton, with muscles from carrying armor and their riders. Each one was selected and trained from birth. Even those warhorses from the human territory lost in a confrontation with them. Those white stags were the trump cards of the Elven village, since Vilcet started his cavalry.

The Nightwalkers, in particularly Zeke, were shocked. They knew how strong the white stags were. But they never had to worry, since Nightwalkers would attack from the trees. They wouldn't fight on the ground, only if they didn't have another way.

This time it seemed they would feel the dread of facing Vilcet's creation.

Zeke gave the order to retreat, if he now changed it and had to make them confront the cavalry, chaos would break out and they would probably be completely wiped out. He had to hope that they were fast enough to get into the forest before Vilcet's unit reached them.

But he never would have guessed how terrifyingly fast those white stags were.

Vilcet closed the distance in less than half a minute.

Zeke in the front had to watch as the slowest of his warriors were trampled and cut into pieces.

Magic was their weakness and that was the only reason they hadn't attacked the Elves in an all out war already. While it isn't really a weakness, since they are being cut down like Elves and humans now, it still was a weakness for them and a huge one to that.

"MY WARRIORS. FASTER OR THE SHAME OF THIS DAY WILL BE BRUNED INTO OUR HISTORY.",Zeke suddenly shouted out. The thought of the Goblins winning turned his stomach upside down. But it was futil.

THUD, THUUUD, THUUUUUD.

The stomping sounds of the white stags came closer and the screams of his warriors started again.

A sudden shout made Zeke shiver.

"Commander of the Nightwalkers. My grandson's time has come. You must have felt it, his aura. Don't think you will take this place down like the last time you Nightwalkers tried to eradicate the Goblins. This place is now a force to be reckoned with. ", Vilcet's shout thundered forward. And what followed was a strong force hitting Zeke from behind.

He stumbled, but caught himself, not falling. The pain he felt was tremendous. A javelin smashed his left shoulder, while he had an amulet that protected him from magic, it still broke the shoulder blade of Zeke, showing the might of Vilcet. If the amulet wasn't on Zeke, he probably would have been pinned to the floor.

"Fuck, if we had more of those amulets, we would have taken them down and killed all their white stags right with them.", Zeke growled, while thinking.

He ran even faster, the forest only steps away.

Vilcet tried to get the commander to fall down, since he wouldn't get him otherwise. Still the bone crushing and massacring of the Nightwalkers was a nightmare for those in front, making some stumble to their death.

At the last 30 meters, Vilcet shouted out and turned around. He didn't want to give the enemy time to counter attack. The Nightwalkers in the forest had already thrown some spears and even though the white stags had armor on some of the spears made it through some gaps.

He didn't want any casualties.

At the end of this day, a trail of dead bodies was covering the ground, from the southern wall till the forest. With most bodies lying around 30 meter away from the forest. Inside the village, Gargaschars territory was almost wiped out. His warriors and the families of them were littering the ground. Making the ground shining red in the sunlight of the morning. It was a day with a high death count.

Zeke looked at the retreating enemies and his bloodshed eyes looked terrifyingly at those white stags. He wanted to murder all of them.

He looked to the side and only two are three handful of warriors were with him. In only two days he almost lost a hundred warriors.

What remained were around 30, with most of them being scouts.

He gritted his teeth and wanted to kill somebody, as he saw Randan and many of his warriors jumping down the wall. They started to rush at them.

Zeke, who wanted to attack those enemies in a fit of rage, calmed suddenly down.

"Everyone let's go back to the others, who attacked the other lair. Let's hope they fared of better. This is our loss. Let it be a lesson. Those aren't the weak Goblins anymore. We will meet the other half of our army with the Sunshine Elves and come back here to kill all of them. ", Zeke said, as he started to ran deeper into the forest.

" We need to finish them of. Like that Elf said. His grandsons aura was terrifying. Are the Goblins so stupid to let an Elven Alpha into their village. Maybe I can use that to my advantage, later on. I won't let another terrifyingly being like the king of the south emerge. ", Zeke thought as he retreated.

Those was the first fight and it was a bloody one already. But all sides knew that only with sacrifice would they make it.
