Chapter 87 - The first Goblin war (10)

Rosch and Gorker looked chillingly. The rest of the Hobgoblins now knew that they would die. But the death now wouldn't be as horrible as the one they would get from their leader, if they ran away.

They stayed and attacked ferociously. Every attack was straight forward without any care for their own safety. Having to deal with suicidal attacks from every direction made fighting much harder.

"Those Hobgoblins aren't from Gargaschars group. He probably never could train warriors like them. Those darker skinned warriors are much more disciplined and brutal. They don't ran, even if they are clearly going to die.", Gorker thought darkly. If more of them would come, they were truly done for. Rosch was wobbly on his feet, which made running even harder.

Rosch and Gorker stood back to back now and fought the Hobgoblins like that. They hurt or killed one of them, but got a pretty bad wound themselves for that.

It looked bleak, but suddenly some of the lighter skinned Hobgoblins went towards them.

"Gooooo, Gargaschar went this way. He must be somewhere here.", the biggest of the lighter skinned Hobgoblins screamed, as they clashed into the group of Rosch, Gorker and the darker skinned ones.

Chaos erupted, but Rosch and Gorker were thankful for that. They got hit a bit, but could navigate out of this situation. They started to run away with their bodies lowered as much as possible.

"Fuck don't let them escape. We couldn't get Kulnara, but at least trapping them here till the rest arrives will let us live.", a darker skinned Hobgoblin said to the others. But they were tired and had to fight the light skinned ones now.

But the darker skinned had an idea.

"Hobgoblins of Gargaschar. Why are you fighting? Your leader is dead and you let the one escape that killed him. You all have only two choices now. Try to kill those two and join our ranks or die.", the darker skinned Hobgoblin leader shouted, stopping the fight between the Hobgoblins.

The lighter skinned Hobgoblins weren't sad or angry. They just accepted that their leader was dead. They never really cared, who their leader was. Gargaschar was to scared. He only had Hobgoblins around him that weren't a threat. Smarter or stronger Hobgobline than him would get taken care of . He was someone, who put quantity over quality. That was the reason his warriors were on the losing side. In this chaos and mostly in this cave the numbers Gargaschar had didn't matter at all.

Suddenly all the Hobgoblins that were fighting turned around and went after Rosch and Gorker.

Gorker and Rosch had a bit of a head start and and stopped at every junction, since fighting was heard from every direction and because of that they had to listen in which direction they needed to go. To that they didn't knew the exact way back. They ran into this cave without thinking.

Rosch looked back and sensed a growing group of warriors coming their way. It made him a bit pale.

"We need to run and not stop at every junction now. We need to hope that we can break through, if there are enemies. The other ones from behind are coming.", Rosch said a bit hopelessly.

Gorker nodded and started to ran forward. Both were now storming into a direction were they could smell fresh air.

They ran for a while, as a bigger group of fighting warriors appeared in front of them. They didn't slow down, crashing into them. They killed multiple enemies instantly, surprising the group. But they were to many.

They had to slow down and fight, which looked almost like a wall of enemies blocking a small wave that were Rosch and Gorker.

Rosch slashed an enemy into two pieces, while looking at Gorker.

It was as if he could convey his thoughts through a stare.

And it said, "Gorker, we are fucked."

Gorker himself knew that and was blaming himself.

"I should have come alone. I would have died with Kulnara today and everything would be fine. I would have found peace with her, while my daughter would be save with Rosch. But my feelings were stronger than my sense of duty. I just couldn't let her die, without seeing her child again. Kulnara went through enough shit. ", Gorker thought self blaming himself.

He looked at Rosch, wanting to know if he regretted his decision.

Rosch was getting hurt faster and faster. His tiredness was showing more and more. And like Gorker he blamed himself, but didn't really show it on his face.

" Fuck. I had everything planned. I never saw it coming that another party would get involved in this war.

Shit, I can't die. What will happen to my family. I told them that they should run, if something happened to me. But will they do that? Some may others, who didn't have children from me won't. They may stay and die with me like Suz once tried to do. Shit, shit, shit. Think brain. What can I do?", Rosch thought darkly. His face getting paler by the second.

From behind more and more enemies appeared. They got told what happened with Gargaschar and suddenly all eyes were on Rosch and Gorker. Rosch didn't know how many there were, but it felt like hundreds of eyes surrounded them, looking straight at them.

"I am sorry chief. It was my fault. I had to try it alone. I should have never taken you with me. I sh...", Gorker said, but was interrupted by Rosch.

"Nahhh, it was my decision. And I would do it again. I was sure my plan was flawless and only a weak Gargaschar would await us, to boot you can't forget that Galia asked me in tears. I would do anything for my females just like you would for yours right.", Rosch suddenly said with a smile, while Gorker was stunned.

" That young being should be terrified. Being so young, not even fully experienced life, while looking upon death, he still smiles. Why is he smiling in such a situation?", Gorker thought, but somehow Gorker had to smile, too. He wouldn't be terrified while being confronted with death, but being so cheerful in such a situation was something new for Gorker, too.

They suddenly started a massacre. Now the tables were turned and Gorker, as well as Rosch knew they would die and attacked with everything they got. Every attack was a full blown swing with all their power cutting through 3 or 4 beings in one go, since it was so packed in this cave.

They got hurt badly with every attack, but they didn't seem to care.

Rosch wasn't paying attention, as a Hobgoblin sneaked behind him. He wanted to pierce Roschar's head, but Gorker jumped between them getting pierced instead.

Gorker slashed the attacker down. The sword was still struck inside his stomach. He knew he shouldn't rip it out, since his bleeding would just get worse.

Rosch reacted fast killing the others, who tried to finish of Gorker, but it seemed it was over now.

They had reached their limits. And as they wanted to give up, some light hit their eyes.

"How long did we fight? The sun is going up already.", Rosch said, as both suddenly raised their eyelids wide open in shock. They didn't realize it, but it seemed that they moved towards the entrance while fighting and not many of the enemies were between them and the outside now.

Rosch suddenly used all his remaining magic power, as he grabbed Gorker throwing him over the enemies. The Hobgoblins looked in shock, as a body was flying over their heads. Rosch instantly went into the remaining enemies that were between him and the entrance. He started to cut down one after the other. Burning almost every bit of magic he had left. Making his self-healing ability stop. His wounds started to bleed stronger now.

"I hav.... Have to be faster.", Rosch thought, as his calves expanded, but this time only for a short accelerating sprint, that shoot him out of the cave.

Rosch catched Gorker, as he sprinted away.

He ran and ran, not looking back, but somehow it was weirdly quiet.

Rosch ran towards his territory, while bodies were lying around. Between the caves and on the roads, bodies were littering the ground like trash. Most of those were lighter skinned Goblins and Hobgoblins. It looked like a massacre.

"What is going on?", Rosch said tiredly. He hadn't any magic left and wasn't that fast, but nobody went after them.

"T... They wanted us to leave that... Place.", Gorker suddenly said weakly.

Rosch was shocked hearing him so weak. He looked down and saw another huge sword stuck inside Gorker. Someone must have pierced him, when he was in the air.

"Fuck, but why were they trying to kill you then?", Rosch shouted angrily.

"N.. No, should have said you not.... Us. They navigated us towards the entrance.....and we only fought lighter skinned.... Hobgoblins. I think they wanted you to survive and let you leave that.... place.", Gorker said getting weaker.

"Gorker. Stay awake, okay. We are almost in our territory.", Rosch said getting teary eyed. He didn't realize it himself. But Gorker became like a father to him.

He was the first male that treated him differently. Teaching him, caring for him and most of all even sacrificing his life for him. It was a relationship that both couldn't describe. Gorker may have seen his deceased son in Rosch and Rosch a father that he never had. Even when Vilcet came in the picture, Gorker still acted like a father figure to Rosch.

"R... Rosch listen. Th.... This is important. If I won't make it. Pro... Protect Kulnara. I.... I don't hav....e to say it. I know... You will..... Do that, but she may..... Take..... Her life.... That is what..... I am more concerned about.

And..... I..... Smelled..... A.... Second... Air.... Stream..... F.. R... O.... M.... The..... Oth..... Er.... S..... ", Gorker tried to say, as his eyelids slowly closed. His eyes getting duller.

"DON'T CLOSE YOUR EYES. Think about Galia, Kulnara, Rogal and Ralia. You never held your own grandchildren in your hands right? STAY AWAKE!!!!!", Rosch shouted with tears in his eyes. Before Gorker's eyes closed completely a sudden spark of light was shining in them, as he saw a picture in his mind.

In that picture, Gorker was walking with Kulnara and Rosch with Galia. He was holding both his grandchildren and Kulnara and Galia had big bellies. It was a dream he liked so much that he had to smile before losing his consciousness.

Roschar's tears were flowing down, as he went even faster. His calves were bleeding, but he never stopped.

"Please make it.", Rosch thought getting scared. "Those bastards. I will murder them all.", Rosch thought further as he suddenly became angry at the Hobgoblins.

"But what did Gorker mean with air streams? And why did they want me alive? They wanted Kulnara and since that didn't work they tried to kill Gorker. They want all lighter skinned Hobgoblins dead, since I heard screams after leaving the cave. They want so much and all of that is related somehow. ", Rosch thought again. His mind was like a roller-coaster. Feeling different emotions and having different thoughts every second.

He was to confused right now to come up with something useful.

Meanwhile at Gargaschars cave.

A huge darker skinned Hobgoblin went to a another one and kneeled. The one standing straight was in the shadows smiling and if Gorker could see him he would be shocked to the core.

"Father, it seemes that they escaped successfully. And Gorker is probably dead. One of my subordinates could pierce another sword through him. But was it right to let them leave?",the kneeling Hobgoblin said.

"Yes Roxer, my son. It was right to do so. We need them, since we aren't ready to take Randan out on our own, yet. After the war, this place will be ours. Just believe in me. It took me almost 20 years to come this far, but now I am sure we will take out those crossbreeds.", the Hobgoblin leader said, while smiling chillingly.

Roxer was huge for a Hobgoblin. He could rival Randan's height with 2,20 meters even though he hasn't got any Nightwalker blood in him. To that his facial features looked a bit like Randan, too. Only his skin color was much greener than Randan's. He had scars all over his body and short green hair. He looked very powerful and brutal with his red eyes starring at his father.
