Before the sun went completely up, at the northern wall of Roschar's territory, stood Vilcet, overlooking the masses of human mixes that entered the territory.
They were many, only the Goblin family had more beings overall. Still even though so many entered half of them stayed in Norberts territory.
"Stupid. Waiting for Norbert, endangering their own kind for something shallow as pride. Pride is important, but not more than lives. Some older human mixes couldn't take orders from my young grandson. But can't blame them. I was like that, too, in my younger days. Proud like a peacock. ", Vilcet thought, as his mind drifted into the past, with a smile.
He was pretty relaxed even though the Nightwalkers broke in deeper and faster than they estimated, endangering their entire plans. If Randan's side would fall or even get reduced to much in their numbers, everything may be over when the second wave appears.
But the reason he was so calm was simple. He had experience and knew that in war, nothing would go according to plan. Plans are a guideline, what happens afterwards and how you react to certain events makes you a great general.
"How is Rosch doing? Hope his first time in a chaotic battlefield won't be to hard. Should I have gone, too? But he needs to learn it the hard way. Sheltered nobles of our clans, mostly of the Sunshine family, often died in their first and second wars because they always had to much protection prior.", Vilcet thought worried.
He knew his grandsons capabilities, but war is something else. Numbers are hard to come by, even with such strong warriors, as Gorker and Rosch.
Vilcet pondered for a while, as he saw a different being trying to enter with the crowd of human mixes into the territory.
Vilcet reacted immediately calling some guards, as he went down.
He just walked right into the flow of beings, who started to split. They saw the equipped guards of Vilcet and at the front Vilcet himself, making the human mixes fear their noble presences.
Vilcet didn't want to intimidate the human mixes. He wanted the one who wasn't one. Vilcet looked at the being terrifyingly and as if the human mixes felt it they immediately tried to run from Vilcets stare.
A big circle was made around one being. That being was Rastar, Roschar's half brother, who started to sweat profusely. He couldn't believe that an Elf could give of such a strong pressure, but Vilcet had fought many battles, to many, which cant be estimated by his appearance, since he seems to be in his forties, which is far far from the truth. He is already several hundreds of years old.
Rastar stood in front of the northern gate that would lead into the territory of Rosch. But he couldn't move forward, while Vilcet on the other side just stood there, waiting for Rastar to speak first.
Rastar swallowed his spit, as if it was a huge piece of meat that didn't want to go down his throat that well. But he was finally able to.
"I.... I am Roschar's older brother, Rastar. I came with orders from my father, Randan.", Rastar shouted out fastly. He didn't want to feel that pressure anymore.
Vilcet already knew, who he was. Elves can strengthen their eyes and ears with magic. He just wanted to show that youngling, that trying to get into someone else's territory secretly shouldn't be done on his watch.
"OH, really.", Vilcet said, giving out a stronger and much more murderous presence after hearing Randan's name. But he did it only for a moment. He didn't want Rastar to break down, just make him understand that he is walking on thin ice and should watch what he was doing.
"So what does he want?", Vilcet said chillingly.
Rastar's face twitched for a second.
"How dare this Elf acts disrespectful towards my father, the Chief. Talking so casually and I can feel so much hostility, too.", Rastar thought enraged. But he wasn't dumb and wanted to go on a suicidal mission, so he stayed quiet. He just needs to deliver some orders.
"I need to talk to your family head. My father gave me important orders that Rosch needs to hear. I need to talk to the other family heads, too. Best if I could talk with all of them at the same time. We don't have time.", Rastar said hurriedly. His urgency meant something big was about to happen.
" Just tell me. I will give them the information.", Vilcet said. This time Rastar got annoyed.
" Don't cross the line. Treating someone, who gives direct orders from the chief like that. To that, this information is for the family heads, only. Do you think I will tell it just like that. Even more to someone like you, who is still like an outsider to us? ", Rastar blurted it out as fast as he could, which brought a smile on Vilcets face.
" Little shit. Right now, I am the Leader here. My grandson is out helping, fighting inside Gargaschar's territory, because you guys couldn't hold the wall. I will say it a last time. Tell me the information or go back to your father.", Vilcet said being unusually enraged.
Rastar was shocked. That Elf didn't even take his father seriously.
"Is he that strong? I heard he was a strong and capable male, a good leader, too. Shit what should I do?", Rastar thought annoyed, since the war started nothing went like it should.
Vilcet got even more irritated. He was calm at first, but since Rosch and the rest started to plan on how they will take over this place, his rage and contempt towards the Goblins that caught and raped his daughter rose dramatically. Sometimes he woke up in the night and wanted to go over and kill Randan in his sleep, but his wife, Millisiana could always calm him down.
As Vilcet wanted to throw Rastar out, Rastar suddenly said the information he should have given the family heads instead.
After a short few sentences, he disappeared not wanting to talk any further with the Elf.
Vilcet turned around after Rastar left and looked at his guards with a smile.
"You all watch the northern gate. Let nobody in, who isn't human mixed. We don't need spies in our territory. I need to go now.", Vilcet said fastly and went towards Roschar's cave.
He didn't stop, dashing at full speed towards the cave. He didn't wait and stormed into it, looking around to only find the bewildered looks of the females of Rosch. Millisiana was there, too jumping up, wanting to know what made Vilcet so happy.
But he didn't answer. He looked around and suddenly said.
"Rosch and Gorker aren't back yet?".
Silence suffocated the room. And as Vilcet wanted to ask what happened, a relieved and tired Silvana came from the back.
"Everyone. Kulnara will survive, but she needs a long time to regenerate. Her muscles are almost nonexistent. She is to weak to even hold herself on the feet.", Everyone was happy for a moment, but silence dominated the rooms again. In the back weak sobbing noises were heard. They came from Galia, who didn't know if she cried from happiness or sadness. Her mother is back and survived, but Rosch and Gorker aren't back yet. Cathy, the big blue cat came alone with Kulnara on her back. And after Vilcet heard what what happened, he too became anxious.
"Listen, they will come back. And if we have to go ourselves to bring those two back, than even better. Randan gave orders to counter attack. As soon as the sun can be seen, completely risen up again, we all attack at the same time, to take back Gargaschars territory.", Vilcet said, trying to cheer them up. It worked a bit as they started to talk a bit again.
Vilcet suddenly gave some orders. He told Dorna and Daria to get Flatch and his warriors and the other females should get Luchs, Gerhard and Gub. Orosh will defend the territory. The leaders came one after the other and he told them, that it would be time to show those enemies outside what Roschar's warriors are made of.
"Today we will kill as many Nightwalkers as we can. Roschar made perfect battle plans with everyone of you. Nobody knows their weaknesses better than someone, who is a Nightwalker himself. So every group of you should be able to kill at least some of the Nightwalkers. And we will do that now. Luchs, Gerhard and Flatch. Your three will lead your warriors without help or orders from me. Think for yourself what the best action is and see it through to the end. That is how you learn the art of war. Gub send your scouts out and help your comrades to fight. Start with weaker Nightwalkers, who are hurt or lesser in numbers. Oh and send some to the other family heads. They need to send some warriors, too. Orosh, you will protect the territory. That is hard, but will be your position from now on as Guard Captain of our territory.", Vilcet said with a smile. Everything had to sink in, but after a moment they all suddenly jumped up and went their way to prepare.
The females felt the tension, but wished their males and friends luck. That they would come home victorious.
As the females talked, Vilcet, too dissappeared. He seemed to have his own thinks to do.
Vilcet went out and walked to his place, but on the way he saw two beings. One was hunched over the other. Not able to move on his own. While the other was seemingly weakened, but stubbornly going forward.
Vilcets eyes suddenly opened wide, since those two were Gorker and Rosch.
Vilcet ran up to them and helped Rosch by carrying Gorker. Vilcet eyes squinted, since Gorker didn't look good. His pulse was weak almost nonexistent.
They became faster again and Vilcet wanted to know why they were alone. They had to pass the western wall to enter and someone would have helped them without doubt.
But Rosch only said that at the end they were hunted by Nightwalkers.
And Vilcet could guess what happened afterwards. The warriors had to focus on defence and Rosch didn't have time to wait till reinforcement arrived to get Gorker fastly towards his cave. He went himself.
Vilcet arrived fastly at Roschar's cave and a bit later Rosch, too. He was exhausted, but didn't rest till he saw Gorker being treated. Silvana was already in full preparation to start Gorker's treatment, while Schajana started with Roschar's.
Both looked bad, but only Gorker was at death's doors.
"Listen Rosch. Just relax today. We will do the rest.", Vilcet said and dissappeared for good this time.
Rosch heard from Suz what happened and wanted to jump up and help his warriors, but his legs gave in. His calves were swollen and completely bloody. He knew that this time he has to rest, even if he doesn't want to. His new skill is straining his body to much.
Time went by and the sun has fully risen, which meant that the counter attack would start, but in the cave of Rosch, silence took over again. Rosch didn't want to sleep till he knew how Gorker was doing.
The night before and now even the day seemed to become a bleak one.
On the battlefield another expression was seen on the faces of the warriors. Mostly on Roschar's warriors. They looked eagerly at the top of the mountain. And with the fully risen sun the screams and shouts on the top of the mountain started. Randan started the attack, rushing down with his finest warriors. Everyone else followed. This battle seemed to be reaching a new peak.
