Chapter 77 - The war begins

Rosch wanted to see, if Gorker would get better and ask what happened in the fight, but warriors of Randan awaited him to lead him to Randan. It seemed time wasn't on the Goblins side.

Rosch followed them with Orosh and some guards. His guards looked like kids compared to Randan's, but that had time. Most of his subordinates were of the younger generation, like Rosch himself anyway.

After a bit they reached the place and Rosch went in. Again most guards waited outside like the last meeting, just this time Gargaschars and Slithers guards looked threateningly at Roschar's guards. Seems they made a new enemy successfully.

Inside, everyone was present and Slither, Gargaschar and Rosch looked at each other like they would kill one another right away.

"Stop this. After the war, you can kill each other, but now we need everyone. If I hear that someone did anything to weaken us in this crisis, I personally will execute him in public.",Randan growled shocking the family heads. He liked skirmishes between the family heads. It would strengthen his position, but to speak like this was a first. It seemed that he was a bit nervous. The time the Goblins were almost wiped out must have been horrible and Rustaf must have told Randan horrible stories.

Everyone looked at Randan and waited. As he got the attention of everyone present, he started.

"A scout made it back alive. It seems they were attacked and almost wiped out. The scout told me that they were tracking the Nightwalkers silently, till the army of the Nightwalkers were around a week from the Elven village. There the army split and some of them attacked my scouts. They must have known that they were followed from the beginning. Waiting for the right moment to attack the scouts. The last scout lost sight of the other 100 warriors and only knows about the 100 that are marching towards our village. They are around 2 or 3 days away so be ready and prepared. If they rush, they could be even faster appearing at our doorsteps.

We think the other 100 will meet with the Elves, since Roschar once found some of them inside the forest, trying to make an alliance. But we still don't know why they split and not march as a unit. That's all we know till now, we have prepared ourselves for a long time. Now we will see how far our race has come. ", Randan said sternly. All this years his father told him how weak they are and that they needed to mix. Have they enough warriors? Are they strong enough? All that came through his mind. But he couldn't show weakness. He showed willingness, to change the way they were precept by the other races.

The talked for a long time and made clear, who will fight with whom, again. Just to make sure everything will go like they planned. Rosch, Leonard, Bog and Norbert would protect the Moonwalker territory, while the other four would protect Gargaschars territory, since those two territories are almost beginning at the foot of the mountain.

Rosch went back after the meeting and went to Gorker right away.

He was awake, but still in bed. It will take some days till he is completely healed.

"Gorker, how are you? And what happened? I was sure that you would win. You had so many opportunities to end it. Why didn't you beat him.?", Rosch asked many things at once.

"Young Chiefling, I am fine. And you see. I wanted to let him win. It was 50/50, if he would hold up his promise to not kill me. He is someone, who does things on the spur of the moment. If he feels like it, he will do it. So I had the chance to make him satisfied, without antagonizing them. But like you saw it didn't work. Another enemy inside the village isn't good. I had to try, but we still have made one now. ", Gorker said, while looking at Cathy. He nodded to her as a thanks. The surprise attack saved his life. Cathy looked happily, but put her arrogant facade on.

" Even if I knew what your plan was, you wouldn't have changed your mind, right? You would have lost intentionally anyway.", Rosch said, while sighing.

"It doesn't matter. If we would have won, lost or any other outcome happened. We would have made an enemy, it seems. The best outcome was that Gorker survived. Good that I talked to Cathy. She is truly a good trump card.", Rosch thought while being a bit relieved.

He than told his subordinates and family, what Randan told him in the meeting.

Instantly everyone got nervous.

The last time in the Elven war, everything happened so fast. No one had time to think, but now it was different. To await the day they would get attacked is such a weird feeling. It was already deep into the night, but nobody was able to get some sleep.

Rosch got out of bed, with the first light of the next day. His females were long gone. It was weird trying to get some sleep, when non of his females could sleep either. He went firstly to Galia. Looking how his heavily pregnant female was doing. She could give birth at any moment, which really wasn't the best time.

Silvana was checking her more often, which made Galia nervous. But Silvana always said its okay. That everything is alright with the baby. Suz and Schajana were there, too for emotional support. Right now everything could make her cry. It would be her first birth and at such a bad time.

After a while, Rosch walked further towards his other females, seeing Xynthia, Aria and Ziriana playing with Roar. The little guy didn't grew at all in this two months he lived here. Seems he has to much Nightwalker, Daywalker and Elven blood in him that his Goblin blood doesn't seem to help in his growth at all. He talked with them for a while, but they were pretty calm. They lived like refugees for such a long time, running from one place to another. Now having a place to stay permanently is making them feel better. The only one, who was nervous seemed to be Aria. She didn't know, who would lead the Nightwalker army and that bugged her.

The last one of his females he didn't talk to was Thulpina and she was with his mother and grandmother. They seemed calm, too. Thulpina became stronger, mentally and physically. She often trained and didn't cry as much anymore. Rosch was really amazed how tough she got.

"Hey guys, what are you talking about?", Rosch asked a bit confused, because it seemed like his mother and grandmother were bombarding Thulpina with questions. But Thulpina didn't answer.

"Nothing much. That is something we females have to discuss. Now, if you would let us talk we would appreciate it.", Millisiana said. Rosch was surprised, since he never got asked to leave when someone talked. And somehow something inside him wanted to stay. He seemed curious, but left. He isn't someone, who would press someone into telling him.

" Thulpina you just have to ask him. You can be selfish sometimes. If you want to go and see how your tribe is doing just ask Rosch. He won't hate you for leaving. He will probably send half the army with you, to make sure you are save. It is just a bad time, right now. Wait till we won against the Nightwalkers and our territory is stable again. ", Lunara said, smiling at Thulpina. Thulpina just nodded back with a warm smile. Even though she was promised to another male and wasn't allowed to do much in her childhood, she still wants to know, if her family is doing okay.

" Thanks. I wanted to ask much sooner. But I always thought that Rosch may don't like it. But seeing and hearing how he let Aria go on her own and wanted to let you, Lunara live with the Elves made me think. He truly wants to let us have our own free will. I don't want to live there, but I need to know how my family is doing. ", Thulpina said a bit worryingly. Millisiana and Lunara nodded. They saw Roschar's females as their daughters and were always happy when they could help.

Rosch wandered around. He talked with everyone he saw and looked if his guards and military were doing their duties. On every tower on his wall, a mix of Goblins and Elves were stationed. 6 in total on every tower. On the walls were guarded by a mix of Norberts, Bog and Leonhards subordinates. Everything seemed well protected, but the Goblins never fought a defensive battle. This would be a novum for them.

And with the high alert of all the warriors nothing would go without noticing. And just like that the alarm bell rung. Someone saw the enemy.

Rosch instantly rushed up the wall where the sound came from. The other leaders did so, too. In a minute every important beings stood on the wall.

"So the war begins.", Leonhard said, looking at the two Nightwalkers that appeared at the edge of the forest.

"Yes, probably tonight. This are just the scouts. Nightwalkers love to attack at night. That's their fort.", Vilcet said, having fought them more than once. Everyone looked at him severely. That truly is bad. They Nightwalkers are made to fight at night. Their dark skin, phisical abilities and senses are perfect. True predators of the night. But it wouldn't become that easy for them. They had some plans and were prepared.

"Let them attack whenever they want. We are going to eradicate them. Nobody will touch this place and survive.", Rosch suddenly said, while his aura pressured outwards. It was weird, but the Nightwalkers that were on the edge of the forest scrammed. Rosch only felt like that once and that was when he looked at his territory for the first time. It was a kind of feeling that he couldn't describe and now it came again. The others around him, didn't feel a thing, just a good kind of vibe inside them raised, as of they would win this war for sure. Only Leonhard looked shocked and surprised at Rosch.

"That.... that is the aura of a true alpha. A true leader. That child has it at such a young age? He truly will become a monster. So the war will begin with a burst of his power. ", Leonhard thought, while the shock in his face disappeared and instead a smile appeared on it.
