The rest of the way back wasn't eventful. Nothing happened, as the Goblins and Elves went towards the Goblin village. The Goblins took weapons and armors of the dead soldiers. They didn't have any baggage to start with, because they had to be at the war as fast as possible running without stopping. Now they could overload themselves and carry as much as possible.
The pace they went was very slow, too. They didn't need to rush anymore and rested often, which made their journey another 3 days long. The only one's without rest were the eleven females that could use healing magic. Schajana, Silvana and her 9 female pupils were healing and treating everything from flesh wounds to sicknesses and sometimes people, who were very fatigued.
At the evening of the third day, since the Elven Civil War.
"Mom, look. I can see a mountain.", an elven child said looking high at the peak of the mountain.
More and more Elves looked into the sky. A beautiful mountain peak with snow on it was showing through the treetops. The snow at the peak would slowly disappear, while the village was freed of the snow almost two weeks ago.
After some time the walls of Rosch's territory started to appear, even some of the towers were being built already. But what they didn't see was the family heads and Randan, who where waiting for them with hundreds of Goblins, standing intimidatingly in front of the village main gate.
They send scouts and knew that a big group of Elves were on the way.
After another 10 minutes the first Elves saw the army of Goblins, standing in front of the gate. It was at least the same amount of Goblins and Elves facing each other. The difference was that the elves were mostly civilians, while the Goblins were all soldiers.
"Stop right now. This is Goblin territory. What are Elves doing here? We may have a peace treaty, but coming with so many beings isn't really a way to show peaceful intent I would guess.", Randan stated, while all Elves immediately stopped. They knew that they were saved by the Goblins, but it seemed that not all of them were friendly. Children started to cry, suddenly seeing such an intimidating being like Randan. He truly looked fiendishly with his blackish green skin and his crimson red eyes.
" Father, everything is alright. They are all my people now and will stay at my territory.", Rosch suddenly said walking up front. He stood in front, while patting a crying small child on the head. It stopped instantly looking surprised at Rosch. He had such a kind face, while the being that he called father was looking like the devil in person. Every Elf now thought that Rosch must have a really strong elven bloodline in him, to look so differently from his monstrous father.
"What are you saying? Did you take them as slaves?", Randan asked confused. He just couldn't think that it was possible to live together with other races. The other Goblins, too looked confused, some even started to look at the elves with sexual interest. They would buy some right away.
" No, they are my subordinates, my people or soldiers. Everything, but a slave. You know that I do not have slaves in my territory.", Roschar's words shocked the entire Goblin army. They couldn't understand why someone would work for free. They didn't think laborers were important, only soldiers. The more beings Rosch had, the more he could build stuff and that would help his future goals. He heard so many things from different cultures that he needed to implement into his territory and for that he needed laborers. Rosch doesn't do charity or work for free. He is just planning for the future, which seems to be harder for some Goblins than others. That the Elves where coming here may have been lucky, it still is more than appreciate, since recruiting Goblins became harder for Rosch. Right before the war with the Nightwalkers, almost all Goblins from the streets were recruited to different families. And Rosch had to somehow make it possible, for all his subordinates to live together.
"You can't do that. This place belongs to us, no one else. Goblins lived here since your great grandfather's days and we will live here long after my generation.", Randan said for the first time with anger in his voice. He didn't even trust his own race, so how could he trust Elves that are even more different to him than Goblins.
" Good I understand. ", Rosch said shocking almost all beings here. He went to Groker and whispered something into his ear. Gorker dashed forward into Moonwalker territory, while everywhere Elves started to whisper. They felt as if they were left behind to die, even Vilcet was shocked for a second. He wanted to ask, if his grandson was serious.
"Why are you sending Gorker in? Leave the Elves and come in.", Randan asked confused, but was shocked right afterwards when the answer came.
"Gorker calls my subordinates and packs our stuff, since we aren't welcome, we will leave.", Rosch said calmly, as if it would be normal to just pack up and leave.
This time the Elves were the most shocked beings around. They felt touched, but couldn't believe that someone would leave their home so easily. Why would a stranger do all this for them? Many of them didn't even know that he was part Elf, but even if they knew why would he trade a safe home against uncertainty. They didn't even have a place to live at.
"WHAT? You can't leave. Don't forget our arrangement. You stay in this village till you are fully grown.", Randan said furious. In his mind, he always thought that Rosch was someone, who didn't break his promises a naive small child, but now he saw him in another light.
" I know our arrangement and it was you, who just broke it. I only had one condition and that was that I can do whatever I want with my territory and recruit whoever I want without interference? You just broke that condition.", Rosch still said very calmly and collected.
This time it was Randan a bit startled.
" That brat, since when did he learn to be this clever. He played me almost reading me like an open book. I completely underestimated him. Maybe he does have much more Goblin blood in him than I thought.", Randan thought smirking a bit again. His anger faded and he took a deep breath.
" You are right. I completely forgot about that condition. All of you can go back. The Elves are allowed to stay. ", Randan said, turning around and walking away.
It was the Goblin family head that went after him.
"Randan are you sure? We aren't often on the same page, but that goes to far right? I heard that the slaves in his territory, live like normal Goblins. We will soon be over run by different races.", Gargaschar said annoyed, since it bugged him already with all this crossbreeds walking around and now even other races without a drop of Goblin blood will live here. To that comes something even worse that is annoying him to the core. The Moonwalkers will get stronger.
" I know, but what do you want me to do? The Nightwalker's are coming. Do you want to lose such a big portion of our military? Even better, we can throw those Elves against the Nightwalkers, too. And after the war we will see, how many of them are still alive. We will throw the rest of them out or enslave them.", Randan said, trying to calm Gargaschar. But he himself knew, once they were inside accepted by Roschar's subordinates, it would be almost impossible to get them to leave again without a massacre. But losing Rosch now wasn't an option for Randan. Both of them walked back to their homes with a bit of dejected feelings, as if they had lost a battle today.
The Elves listened till the end and suddenly jubilated. They didn't care where, they just wanted to rest and recover for the time being.
"Good, everyone go inside. Gerhard, Gorker, my females and my mother are giving you guys sleeping places. It will be crowded, but we will do something about the situation. Soon everyone of you will have a new home.", Rosch said confidently. But his confidence was met with a bit of uncertainty. Even if they had homes, which Elf would like to sleep in a dirty cave. They hoped it wouldn't be for long and Vilcet would lead them to a safe place in the forest.
They all went slowly still a bit scared and shocked. The Elves looked around and saw some Goblins, but there weren't many non Goblins around, most were females for the whore house of Galia and some males, who had experience in farming or how to build stuff. They taught the Goblins everything from breeding livestocks and agriculture for the future to buildings and defensive structures.
The first Elves that entered some caves of the Goblins were shocked. It was clean and completely different from what they thought. Crystals hung up to enlighten the cave rooms, while warm furs and pelts were lying on the ground giving them a feeling of a warm home.
Most of the normal Goblins just copied what they saw from Roschar's home. They truly liked the idea of their own homes being nice, warm and clean. Why not feel like a family head, if they had the chance thanks to their chiefling, instead of living in their own excrements like they used to.
Most settled in quickly, even though the caves were very crowded, but it was still better than sleeping outside. Most were to exhausted anyway and fell asleep instantly.
Rosch went home, but ordered his Goblins to do some night work before leaving.
At home, Rosch wanted to go to bed right away, but couldn't as Vilcet came over to him.
"I wanted to thank you. Our loses would have been much higher, if it weren't for your soldiers.", Vilcet said thankfully. He was against Rosch, since looking at him made him remember his incompetence of being a father. Not able to protect his daughter.
But the more they interacted, the more he liked his only grandson. He was the only male till now and always missed something. It was teaching his male offsprings how to act, as someone of the Moonshine family. It was tradition, since his late late ancestors.
He didn't know how to act, but tried to pat Roschar's head, which was weird at the start. Not, because Rosch hated it. It was something else. He was still a child and never felt love from a male member of the family before, but now that it seemed to happen it felt just a bit awkward.
"No problem. You guys are my family. I had to do something and you should thank my females more. They made the right decisions to lead you all towards the Goblin village.", Rosch said.
Vilcet smiled looking up into the sky from the huge window that was at Rosch's cave ceiling.
Till he remembered about Randan.
" So that was your father. The blackish green Goblin?",Vilcet asked chillingly, while Rosch nodded.
Rosch told him anything he needed to know and that Lunara is safe. That she is even feared a bit inside this village, as the one who controls Rosch from behind the scene, which brought a smile on Vilcet's face. And Rosch further told that now wouldn't be a good time to do something stupid, which Vilcet agreed to as well. He almost lost it at the face off with the Goblins military today, but Milisiana was there, calming him down.
After some small talk, Vilcet and Rosch went to bed, too. It was a long week, since they first met.
