Chereads / Big Brother Angel / Chapter 6 - No Home

Chapter 6 - No Home

My body moved at a speed I didn't know was possible. I saved the boy, but there was a big problem. We where in the middle of nowhere in a forest, that was now burning. I was scared but the boy looked at the fire in wonder. He reached out his chubby fingers to the burning piece of wood that was in the dirt.

I grabbed his hand and started running at the fastest speed possible, but the fire was spreading to quickly. So I tried to fly but I couldn't concentrate. So I floated it was faster then runing because the boy was very heavy, so I was only able to float a little over the ground.

After what seemed like forever we got to a cave on the other side of a river. The boy was on my back sleeping. The cave was empty so I put the boy down next to me and fell asleep.

I woke up to the boy shaking me saying "Big brother!" The boy was pointing at his stomach. I wonder what he wanted, he pulled a book out from his shirt. He then show me his stomach and said"hungry where mommy."

I didn't know what to tell him, should I tell him that his mommy and daddy were dead. Should I tell him he could see them again if he died.

would a two year old even understand all that?

I smiled and took him outside of the cave. I wasn't very happy but I wanted him to be happy. My dad once said that my smile made him happy. The boy started to smile to, yes! it worked.

I tried to look for food but I didn't now what was edible in a forest. So we kept on walking till we saw the river I crossed. The boy grabbed my hand tighter.

I put him on my back and floated back a cross the river it was easier this time. Even if the boy was shaking as I floated across the river. The forest wasn't burning anymore but the trees looked like completely burnt toast. The kind of toast no one would want to eat.

I could hear a very loud noise above my head so I looked up. There was a helicopter flying above us. I didn't know what to think about everything.

I hurried faster to the house hoping there was still food in the shed that I saw. The house was surrounded by reporters I hid but realized there was nothing to worry about, they couldn't see me. Then I remembered that the boy was still on my back. I put him back down on the floor.

The boy had a confused look on his face and pointed at where his house use to be.

"No home" he said while runing towards the burnt pieces of house. The reporters were shocked when they saw a boy run past them. I ran after him and caught up quickly.

I stoped him right before he ran on the house? He was crying and he didn't seem to understand what was happening.

"No mommy, no daddy, no food." The reporter's surrounded him.

"who are you?," the boy didn't want to talk to them and ran into my arms. wipeing his tears and snort all over my clothes. This time I didn't get mad at him for making my clothes dirty.

I think one of the reporter's called the police, because the police showed up.

One of the officers walked towards us with a lollipop in his hand. He had a scary smile that hid in his beard. His face went right through my body.

"Are you lost little boy," I wondered what the little boy would do, my dad told me to never take treats from strangers ,if he wasn't there with me.

The boy just looked at him confused, he didn't take the lollipop from him.

The boy pointed towards the burnt pile of wood.

"Where is mommy and daddy," The policeman looked troubled like he didn't know what to say.

He placed the lollipop in the boy's hand and walked to the group of officers.I ran after him leaving the boy alone.

"It's the missing boy, he's wondering where his parent are, what should I say?"he said that so fast that I almost couldn't understand what he was saying.

"He's the child of that crazy woman, who killed herself and her husband yesterday, " exclaimed the only policewoman in the group.

" The owners of the two burnt body's that were found," said a policeman with very thick eyebrows.

" I have never had to tell bad news to a child before, what should I do? The policeman was walking around in circles.

What was going on? the boy's mommy killed someone. I couldn't pay any attention to what they were saying anymore. I looked towards where I left the boy, he wasn't there. Then I looked behind me to see the boy runing towards me, he was a bit slow.

"Big Brother!" said the boy while runing towards me with tears in his eyes, his arm reached out for a hug. I opened my arms to give him a hug but the policeman ran right through me and hugged the boy.

The boy had a very confused expression on his face, as he looked at me in the eyes. When the policeman let him go he ran towards me and hid behind me.

The policeman walked towards the boy again. His face when right through my body again. I was getting annoyed, I hated that I was being treated like air, even if I knew he couldn't se me.

"I will tell you where your mommy and daddy is, if you come with me,"

said the policeman. He sounded like the creepy people in movies that kidnap children.

The boy looked up at me with a questioning look in his eyes. I gave him the ok. Police are safe right?

He brought the boy to his police car only to remember that he didn't have a car sit. So he called someone.

While we waited the policeman opened the lollipop for the boy. The boy just looked at the lollipop. I couldn't take it anymore and said "lick it.

"After I said that the boy licked the lollipop and his eyes opened wide with shock.

I wonder what the policeman was going to say to the boy. Was he just going to tell the boy that his parents were dead? Was he going to be like Uncle Alex and tell him he would never see them again and then disappear.

A big car pulled up and a woman came out of it. She ran toward the policeman. she saw the boy and offered to drive him to the police station. she said something about a police car not being fit for a child.

I was disappointed because I wanted to go in the police car. The woman buckled the boy to a car seat. Then we left towards the police station.

When we arrived at the police station the policeman took the boy and brought him into a room.

The room had two chairs in it and oblivious cameras. The boy looked at the policeman with a determined look in his eyes.

"Where is mommy and daddy," said the boy as he looked at the policeman right in his eyes.

The policeman sighed and said with a worried look in his eyes. " Your mommy and daddy are gone."

"Give mommy and daddy back!" the boy didn't seem understand him.

"Your mommy and daddy are dead, I can't bring them back to you." The policeman was not very nice. The boy started crying, even though he didn't understand what was happening. He knew that his mommy and daddy were never coming back to him.

I didn't want to give the boy hope, even if I knew that if he died he would be able to see them again.

The policeman just watched the boy as he cried. He tried to comfort him but he failed.

I gave the boy a hug, I knew that a simple smile wasn't enough to solve this situation.

The boy stoped crying after a while. Then he looked at the policeman again. His face looked terrible and his snort was all over it.

The police man offered him a piece of tissue to blow his nose. The tissue paper was all crumpled and looked disgusting.

Then the policeman looked at a piece of paper that was placed in front of him. He read it for a little while.

"I'm sorry I had to tell you such news James." I was shocked the boy had the same name as my dad. Even the fact that tge policeman was treating a two year old as an adult wasn't as shocking.

"There was one thing that survived the fire," he pulled out a journal that I could recognize anywhere, it was my dad's Journal. Was the boy my dad?
