She was discharged with little fanfare after a couple of days of observation. The doctors had insisted on observing her due to her apparent loss of memories and the fact that she had forgotten how to communicate; they did not have much of such injuries to study. They just insisted on monthly check-ups for the next 2 years to see if there was any improvement.
Medical technology had advanced significantly through the centuries and most illnesses and diseases had been eradicated. It was mainly serious injuries that led to hospitalisation nowadays. Things like fractures or bleeding wounds were easily healed and one was able to be up and running within an hour. This also led to less work that was needed to be handled by them and therefore, they were very happy to have such a unique case to play(study) with.
It was conditions that involved the brain that was still tricky. Even though medical science was able to regenerate the damaged parts of the brain, the brain was unable to function normally as it did before the injury happened. As such, most patients who stayed long term in hospitals were those with brain injuries or required supervised bed rest.
Though there were medical robots that were able to look after patients at home, her parents had opted to have her admitted for 24/7 observation. That was due to both her parents being busy and was not able to spare much time to look after her.
They did not think that leaving her to be accompanied by cold metal robots would help her recover, and it was also because they hoped that "the human touch" provided by the medical professionals would help wake up their sleeping daughter.
Mrs. Ng looked at her daughter sitting quietly next to her on the way home and felt her heart ache.
Her darling daughter who never did sit still for anything was now quietly sitting next to her in the hovercar and looking out of the window with a pensive face. How did her bright and sunny Lys become such a downcast and sad person?
"It's alright honey, Mummy will teach you everything again." She put her arms around her daughter and gave her a reassuring hug. "We will explain to everyone, so no one can or will fault you for anything you may do wrong."
"Yes. If anyone bullies you for not knowing anything, tell Daddy and he'll beat them up!" Her father, General Ng, chimed in, smiling at her. He too did not understand why his daughter was not like herself these days. Maybe she was nervous about leaving the hospital? She hadn't left in the past 30 years after all.
"Okay." Lys nodded her head in agreement. It was much easier to go about this world if she had the full support of this body's family. With such a powerful family, the information they had access to should be higher as well. She could maybe find out what happened to her original self? And the whole history of this race… She always did enjoy history lessons.
She cheered up after that. It wouldn't do any good to worry her parents.
The hovercar stopped outside a large mansion, at the end of a cul de sac. It was located between several mansions, all painted in such a way that it blended into the surrounding forest perfectly. If one didn't look closely, one would not be able to identify that there were buildings there.
"Welcome home Lys!" Mummy Ng said, gesturing to one of the mansions.
"That?" Lys looked around with wonder and suspicion.
"What if there is danger?" She indicated the woods beyond.
"This is a secure and private community; you don't have to worry about the security here." Daddy Ng petted her head. "There is security personnel patrolling all the time as the people who live here are very important and require 24/7 protection. You played out here all the time with all the neighbours when you were younger."
"Oh?" Lys tilted her head and looked at her father. "Has nothing happened in the woods before?"
Daddy Ng shook his head laughing at a memory. "Other than that time when you enticed a Lembair and caused terror amongst all the kids? Nope."
"What's a Lembair?"
"A Lembair is a normally docile animal that when agitated, can become a deadly creature." He shook his head. "Until now we still haven't figured out how you brought one home. But you caused so much havoc that day that we were almost kicked out. Good thing Lance was there and managed to calm the situation."
Her father tapped his comms and projected a hologram of a Lembair, which looked like a cross between a rabbit and a saber-tooth tiger, then replayed the footage of the incident captured by security that day.
"I want one of those!" Lys excitedly pointed at the comms.
"Nope. We are not risking another incident." Her father kept his comms and stared sternly at her.
"Not the Lembair, that phone-like thing!" She pointed at the comms that had just been kept away.
"Oh. We'll see about that." Mama Ng quickly shooed them towards the door. "Quickly go in. Your brothers are waiting."
Showtime.

"I heard the witness has woken up from her coma?" A man stood in front of a large screen with a picture of Lys and her family.
"Yes sir, hospital records indicate that she is suffering from severe amnesia due to brain damage and is unlikely to regain any memories. She does not have the slightest recollection of anything that happened 30 years ago and can't even understand Nibilian." The man standing next to him summarised the report in front of him.
"Good. Send someone to monitor and see if she remembers anything. If she does, take her out immediately. If she doesn't, well it's better to not make enemies out of her family at the moment."
"Roger." The subordinate turned and left the room.
"Such a pretty little thing... those eyes..." He smirked as he stroked the screen, fixated on her still, youthful face. "You'd be an excellent addition to my collection... Maybe you should remember everything... Grow up quickly, or don't."
"I'll be joining you soon."
