Lys ran for a bit, trying to put as much distance between herself and the kidnappers.
She didn't want to be captured, tortured, interrogated and killed!
She also needed to find some way to call her parents! Or the Police! Or maybe find someone here for help! (The person she finds is hopefully is NOT affiliated with the kidnappers… or she'd be more screwed than she already is…)
Randomly running into buildings from time to time, she looked for anything that looked like a communicative device, then left when she couldn't find anything. Why was this place so much like a ghost town? Every building seemed empty and desolate, like a city that was built but never finished.
Something must have happened for this area to turn out like that.
Stopping for a quick rest, she reached out to massage her left ankle when she realised it had not pained her the entire time she was running. Attempting to rotate her foot, there was not even a twinge of pain?
Was that due to her regenerative ability or was it that weird liquid that her palms extruded? She tried forcing out that weird liquid again…
Nothing…
How about massaging herself?
Also, nothing…
She stomped her foot in frustration. What did people do to activate their abilities?
She wanted to play too!
"Who's there!" A male voice called out.
She dived behind the nearest pillar.
Whoops! She forgot she was supposed to be hiding from the kidnappers and had a mini temper tantrum…
Must have been the meds…
But… She hadn't had any today yet.
Heh… She must have been too distracted with all that ability thingy that was happened earlier.
In any case, it was better to figure out if this voice belonged to the kidnappers or was someone that could help her.
Peeking out from behind the pillar, she saw a guy holding a sack and some type of rock, walking towards her, looking around cautiously.
He didn't seem like a kidnapper; wouldn't those people have guns or knives or something? They were supposed to be threatening and trying to recapture her right?
"Show yourself!" The man called out again.
"I have a blaster, I will shoot if you don't appear!"
"I won't ask again!"
*Sounds of someone tripping and falling*
"Dammit! Why is there someone in this blasted city? Isn't it called an abandoned zone for a reason?"
… Kidnappers wouldn't really act like that, right? Weren't they supposed to be badass and scout the area beforehand? Also, wouldn't he be looking for her if he was part of them rather than complaining about people in the "abandoned zone"?
"Hi." She popped her head out.
"Please don't shoot. I'm coming out now" She walked out from behind the pillar.
"Who are you?"
"I'm Lys, would you happen to have a comms I could borrow?"
"Err… Yea… Why?" He limped towards her, surprise on his face at the tiny figure walking towards him.
"Why are you out here? Shouldn't you be at home or at school? Did you sneak out from class?"
"I escaped. I was kidnapped, I think. Would you know who I could call for help?"
"KIDNAPPED?!! Wait there are others here?" He jumped and looked around wildly.
"We have to go! It's not too safe here."
"But call for help?"
"We can do that outside of this zone, it isn't safe. This place is patrolled by the Tomorrow Project…" He pointed in a direction to the east, "my ship is this way."
Sorry about that," she gestured to his foot as they headed in the direction of his ship.
"Nah it's me being careless… I always get spooked when I'm doing these junk runs. It's not that safe out here, if you get caught by the Projects, they may hold you and force you to be a suicide bomber…" He shrugged. "I think that's how my fellow junker disappeared."
"We should continue this on the ship. I just checked and my comms have been disconnected"
"Oh?"
"Yep, isn't yours not working as well?"
"I have a comms?"
"Isn't yours that purple one stuck behind your ear?"
"… Eh... Heh heh… I forgot I had one…"
"… How?"
"… I just got it today?"
"…" He fiddled with the comms for a moment and it lit up. "Try now?"
"… I still don't know how to use it, or what to call for that matter…"
"… Didn't they teach you at the store? And programmed the contacts in?"
"Did they? I was just playing with the holo cat." She grinned. "It was pretty cool how I was able to play with it, so I only asked them how to launch it. "
They had almost reached the ship when suddenly, he ducked and pulled Lys with him.
"Why did you do that!?" She half shouted, half blamed as she fell on the ground.
"Shhhhhhh!" he covered her mouth, looking at a distance. "I think they found us. You've been talking too much…"
'I'm not the only one talking…' She looked up at him as he pointed at his ship, then nodded as he put his hand away.
"Let's hurry, quietly."
Some laser beams were fired as they rushed up the ship.
"Buckle up" He tucked the sack to the side and closed the door, then settled himself onto the pilot's seat.
"We have lift-off!"
The ship rose as they saw some people running below them, firing their weapons as they tried to hit the ship. Some fireballs also landed on the ship, brushed away by a thin translucent white film.
"My name is Dean." He activated the ship's comms. "Who did you want to contact anyways?"
"My parents. Do you know how to contact either Grace or Ian Ng?" She tilted her head and looked quizzingly at him.
He looked incredulously at her. "Grace or Ian Ng? You're talking about the General of the Feint Warriors and the Media Queen?"
"Yea… Them, or you can call Max or Mat. They are my brothers…"
"You are saying you are the Sleeping Princess, Lys Ng? You've got to be joking, aren't you?"
"Am not, or you can get me to the police in the Imperial Capital. I think that's where they stay."
"Honey, the Imperial Capital is where almost every General that is not stationed off-planet stays… You need a better story. The Sleeping Princess awake and kidnapped… LOL." He scoffed. "There has been no news of her waking up yet. It's a wonder she is still alive…"
"…"
"Bzzzzzt. Bzzzzzt."
"Bzzzzzt. Bzzzzzt."
"What's that noise?" Dean turned to look at her.
She shook her head, confused, shaking along with the sound.
"Your comms is ringing. Pick it up…" He pointed to a small light embedded in her wrist.
"Oh! How?"
"Press the light." He motioned to the wrist again.
"Okay. Hello? Hello? Is anyone there?"
Dean sighed. What a dumbass…

"Subject has escaped in a speedpod… (Static)… There was someone else here… (Static)"
"(Static)… Oh really?"
"(Static)… Clear the area. The Ngs will be here soon. Oh, and grab your team to report to the ancient tower, won't you?"
"Roger… (Static)"
"Such a good team, a 12-year-old managed to escape all of you."
He turned to a bunch of people sitting across the room.
"We've made the first move. Now it's theirs."
