No sooner had the words left his lips, the pen began to morph into a large, skull and jewel embellished ethereal scythe. He gently took the scythe in both hands and quick as a bolt of lightning sliced through the child from the top of her head to the tiniest of her little toes.
He placed one hand back into his pocket leaving the other to steady the otherworldly scythe. He took a step back as he nodded to Akshai. It was his turn now. Akshai rose to his four paws and trotted to Lillian's bedside then leapt up to sit at her feet. His ear's twitched slightly as he waited for Lillian to emerge.
After a moment of silence, he leaned forward, tilted his head and cocked his brow. Looking back to Xander he found him reading the girls chart. Xander's brows furrowed as he read on. When he could take no more he looked up at Akshai.
"She was abused. Her chart shows multiple visits with broken and splintered bones, bruises the likes we've rarely seen on an adult human, along with concussions...and more. The child was beaten into this state." he said with disgust. "She may take some coaxing to come out."
Akshai exhaled a sigh of sorrow and frustration at the treatment the child suffered through.
"How can humans do such horrible thing's to their young? Why do they do this?" He asked to no one in particular.
"Though this and many other cases like this are extremely unsettling and just plain horrible, we mustn't forget that not all humans are like the ones that do this. Most are decent and try to live as wholesomely as they can." Xander explained.
"I know, I understand they aren't all monsters. Still, it'd be best for everyone, in my opinion that is, if the big man upstairs would send another one of his "Cleansing Flood's" maybe then the humans would change."
"A promise was made a long time ago, to never again flood the earth. You bore witness to it, just as I did."
"It was a different time then Xander. But....I suppose you are in fact right. It's just....the children...they, they don't deserve this."
"You're right they don't, but better for her to go home now then to endure a life that is full of pain and torment, isn't it?"
Akshai stared down at the child who now began to shimmer and glow a faint light blue color.
"Come on, let's finish this Xander."
Akshai shook his head from side to side and straightened his spine. Flicking his long bushy fox tail, he spoke very softly to the child.
"Lillian? Lillian dear can you hear me? It's alright child no one will ever hurt you again. It's alright to come out."
The shimmer began to grow brighter, then, in a flash of bright gold, was gone. Lillian's soul rose from her body in a bluish mist. She rubbed her eyes then looked around. Fear plain on her face. The deep green fields of her eye's found the bright ocean waves that were Akshai's.
She stared at him, a small smile trying it's best to spread across her face as she fought it back. Akshai sat in an orange-red shimmering mist of his own. He smiled his foxy grin at her and she in return shyly smiled back.
"Whe...where am I?" she asked in her tiny voice.
