"What? Really?" Lillian exclaimed.
"Oh yes, you'll fly and soar through the clouds and laugh and play and never be hungry or thirsty ever again." Xander said, his mood obviously better than before.
"Well let's go! I wanna go!" squealed Lillian.
"Alright then, hold on tight my girl! Cause here, we, goooo!" Akshai said excitedly as he leapt through the hospital door.
"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee" Lillian screamed, clutching Akshai's neck in her tiny arms.
As the light that comes with their visit faded he heard ever so slightly the distant blare of a speaker announcing a Code Blue in ICU. They had to hurry and cross The Veil before the humans could revive Lillian. Luckily, they were close and crossed just in time.
Once Lillian was taken care of at the River Styx and all the goodbyes were said, Xander and Akshai left and headed back to the land of the living. The night had only just begun for them, they still had plenty of souls that needed releasing and reaping. Dawn was just breaking when the pair took a moment to breathe and re-group.
"Ok, last one of the night. Name's, Va'Laura Saint, say's here she should be in room… huh, no room number just says she's on the 6th floor of the Saint's Memorial Hospital. Saint's Cove, West Virginia. Huh....think it's a coincidence?" Xander asked, heartedly.
"What? The name similarities? Nah, it's probably some old rich family. I'd say we're picking up one of the human's.... what do they call them... "Financial Royal's?", and she's probably pretty old so at least there won't be much of a fight with this one. Beautiful name though, I must say. You don't hear that particular one too often now-a-days. Although, it seems like it's kinda familiar somehow."
"Yeah, I don't think I wanna handle another human trying to throw a chair through me like the last guy. It doesn't hurt of course, but it's incredibly annoying and draws attention."
"Yeah, that's a definite. Well, let's go. We're burning what's left of our moonlight, I'll have to assume human form soon if we're caught in the daylight."
Xander and Akshai faded into their mist forms and took off across the skyline of the city as they headed for the country side.
