After talking with Valentyne and Elder Kanai, I was taken to the medical hut next to the center of the village. On the way there as Valentyne carried me, people stared... more in shock than anything, but it was a nice change from people wanting nothing more than to claim me as their wife. But Valentyne... I can honestly say for a man with pointy ears... he's pretty handsome.
"What are you then, if I'm this important figure?" I asked.
"I'm a mutt. that's all you need to know." He stated dryly.
"Oh... so you don't know what you are either then." I said smugly.
"If you keep prying I'll twist your other ankle..." He said under his breath.
"Hey. I heard that you ass." I hissed. Valentyne brought me to the med Bay and set me down a little more gently than he had that day.
I was surprised to see the doctor come in so quickly. She was dressed in all black, had very pale skin and didn't seem to get much sun.
"Hello Elder." said Valentyne.
"Salutations, Hunter." Said the doctor. She looked at me, her eyes the color of freshly spilled blood. "And who do we have here... the famous Golden being... Of which region do you hail, wolf?" I looked at her wide eyed, not knowing the right answer.
"Umm... until about a half hour ago I didn't even know where I was anyway. Now I'm being told I'm some sort of 'Golden Wolf'. How the hell do you expect me to reply to that? All I've ever known was that I'm a fucking human. I grew up with humans, I have ever only known humans and I don't know anyone here or anything about this world, or wherever the fuck I am. For all I know you're all just playing tricks on me and I'm really in my grandmother's home in a coma!"
"Calm yourself child. This is no prank, joke, or... coma." said the Elder. "I am Elder Lori. I am Moon-born as well. You and I may be slightly different but we are also the same. The only difference between us is that you can day walk, and I cannot. I am cursed to walk in the shadows, and you can have children where as, I cannot." Elder Lori scowled. "Have you ever seen your parents?"
"What does that have to do with anything that concerns right here and right now?" I demanded.
"Child, it has everything to do with right here and right now. You have never seen your parents, so you do not know who they are." She said sitting next to the table. "Child, you are a moon born. You cannot escape your destiny. We all have a role to play in the larger scheme of this. I do not know my creator. Nor do I wish to. It is best that you stay here in secret. Do not venture beyond the gates. The guardians have been ordered not to kill you... for now. Though, if you attempt an escape from this village, there are worse things out there." The Elder was very stern.
"What will happen if Toros finds me?" I asked after a moment of silence.
"Nobody knows what will happen for sure, but I can guarantee you it's not going to be good." Valentyne interjected.
"Valentyne is right." Lori said. "One theory is that you will be enslaved and forced to bear his children, which will then overthrow the Elders and after they come and overthrow the elders, they will set forth, destroying all life in their path." Elder Lori said staring at me. "Valentine, please go to the storage warehouse and pick out a blouse and trousers for this young lady. Or choose a dress. Either is fine."
Valentine returned with a pale blue dress. It looked slightly tattered, Elder Lori took the dress from his hands, and went to a small sewing table. She worked so fast I could barely blink before she was done. When she held the dress up I could see small little patterns of golden Vines scattered throughout the fabric.
"Now she looks like she belongs here." Lori said smirking slightly. "Valentyne, show her to your quarters as she will be sleeping with you."
"Excuse my ignorance Elder, but do you really expect me to sleep in the same room as this... thing?" he said pointing in my direction.
"why yes Hunter, I do. And that 'thing' is the golden being. You shall treat her as you would treat any respectful Elder." Lori gave me a drink that looked rather odd.
"what is this?" I asked.
"It is medicine... drink it before it gets cold."Elder Lori told me. I drank the liquid and it was surprisingly sweet. It tasted kind of like berries. after I drank the medicine my ankle started to feel numb. Though as soon as the numbness took over, feeling regained in my ankle and I felt a small sting and pop. I stood on my ankle and it didn't hurt surprisingly.
