Valentyne and I arrived at his cottage quickly. He stepped ahead of me and opened the door, motioning me inside. I stepped up the 3 cobblestone steps and went inside. The door shut behind Valentyne as he walked in after me.
"Here is my home, nothing much, but it meets the bare necessities." Valentyne said grumpily.
"Bare necessities?" I scoffed. I skimmed my eyes around the entry room seeing ornate carvings in the support pillars, a small shelf in the corner with a tapestry draped over it. I stepped to take a closer look, but Valentyne came between me and the cloth.
"Don't." he said quietly, his voice a mixture of sadness and anger.
I nodded and turned to the living space. Slowly I walked into the room. It was even more decorated than the entryway and looked like most of the items cost at least 20 Silver.
"I wouldn't exactly call this 'bare necessities'." I gave him a quick smirk and turned my head.
Valentyne put his hand gently on my shoulder. "Your room is up there. Feel free to explore and then come up to rest. Gods know we both need it." He walked up the stairs, disappearing from view.
I didn't feel like doing much exploring, so I took a quick look into each room on the ground floor and then went up the stairs. Valentyne had taken his armor off and was sleeping on the bed. I guess I was supposed to sleep next to him. I undressed in the room as he slept and found change of clothes neatly folded at the edge of the bed. I took the clothes and re-dressed.
