It's been about a week since I last saw Shobek. It had to of been at least five days I think. It's hard to tell if it's day or night but his whole house seems to just automatically turn off all the unnecessary lights when it reaches a range of nighttime. If you wanted a certain light on, you had to go to the switch and flip it. It was a pretty neat idea but I wasn't sure if it was accurate, regardless, I've adjusted my whole lifestyle to it. The only times I know Shobek is still alive are when I hear him cursing at something in a game or when I suddenly hear rummaging outside my room in the kitchen in the middle of the night. I did try to catch him while he was on a hunt for food but when I saw him stalk past the hall, he looked more like a demon than ever before. Even though he held the corner of a chip bag in his mouth and was juggling a jar of dip and two different cans of some kind of energy drink, the way his eyes looked was nearly horrifying. It was a look of rage, annoyance, sleepiness, and murder. Not to mention he was growling and muttering to himself without paying me any mind. I'm also not too sure where he slinks off too but I have figured it'll be best if I didn't bother him. Instead, I've worked out a daily routine. It's a pretty average routine. Get up, get dressed, then eat, maybe clean.
I also managed to find plenty of clean clothes in the dresser that was in my room so I usually go down to the training area with a change of clothes. I've found a few books in the small library in my room on combat, so I've based my work exercise on that, (as strange as that is). I usually just do a few normal stretches, or running laps, a few push-ups, then punching.
So far today, I've only done 11 laps around the training room, working on my 12th already. Breathing was getting harder and the temperature was too hot even though I wore shorts and a tank top and usually found this place freezing. I slowed down as I reached the throne rock again and sat down; a five-minute break won't hurt. I grabbed the water bottle I made a habit of taking everywhere and took a long, deep swig of the cool water. Sitting still I start to feel that familiar coldness that I wasn't too fond of at first. But since I've started exercising, it's become a welcomed feeling.
"Oh come on!!"
I jumped and looked towards the ramp after hearing Shobek shout and a loud thud. There was muffled cursing before hearing a door open and slam shut. I was shocked when I saw Shobek stomp down the ramp. He barely glanced at me before walking to the center of the training room. He then stood still, his back facing me; he was moving his arms around slightly and a black tattoo of various swirls leading up his left arm started to glow purple. I stood and watched him in awe; the air seemed to start spinning slightly from in front of him. Then, a black hole started to form and grow.
I wish I had just left. Given him space.
But I couldn't anymore. I tried to back away but a barrier had formed around the training grounds. The barrier never reaching past the big rock I had become accustomed to as Shobek's personal stone throne. Though it was just a giant boulder. I made it my comfort zone when exercising.
But no amount of comfort could keep the rippling fear from sliding over me. Shobek opened a portal and had moved back slightly; allowing the prowling creatures to wander in.
The first one was a tall creature with long, scrawny legs like a gazelle but the main body was that of a pig's. Plump and round. The head was even more horrifying; it had the shape of a bulldog's head but its eyes were small and its mouth gaped open and was filled with teeth like an anglerfish. The color was a dark gray all around and I could smell it from where I was. I was yards away but the smell of rotting flesh and death was strong enough to reach me; causing me to cower back, gagging a few times before forcing myself to focus on Shobek. I covered my face with the small hand towel I kept with me while training, letting the cloth help mask the smell so I could breathe again.
Shobek didn't seem to be that concerned, I, on the other hand, was freaking out. The creature sniffed around the air and turned towards Shobek, its jaws vibrating with its guttural growl. Its long legs seemed to flow like water as it ran towards him, its jaw dropping open ready to bite.
I don't know if I was amazed or horrified. It happened as fast as light. One minute, the creature was running, the next, it was torn to bits. The horrible fume intensified and I gagged, patting along the barrier's edge in an attempt to get out and hide in the bathroom; it was out of reach. I fought back the urge to puke when I heard a deep howl. Looking back, I saw Shobek wrestling with a new creature. this one was covered in shadows, it had a dog body with the snout elongated like an alligator. Shobek was holding its upper and lower jaw to keep it from tearing out his throat.
A glow started to form at shobek's hands and the gator-dog...thing, started howling in pain. It reared back but Shobek held on, forcing it to hover over him again. Its lower jaw was caught in Shobeks grip and was slowly forced open. A tearing sound was followed by a screech as Shobek flung the lower jaw haphazardly to the side; finally letting the creature go. It cowered back and tried to run for the portal but its body gave and it collapsed, whimpering and whining as it bled out. Shobek stood back up and walked towards the creature, he cocked his head like an animal before putting his foot on the thing's neck and used his hand to rip its head off. I couldn't stop the puke then.
I leaned against the boulder after emptying my stomach, Shobek killing 3 other creatures varying in sizes as I kept my back turned. My ears were ringing from the screams of the hideous beasts that met an unpleasant end. At one point, I looked back and found shobek tearing open the belly of a beast that was 5 times his size. Whatever pissed him off must've really hit a nerve if he was this nonsensical. I cowered by the boulder, from him or the demons, I don't know.
It felt like hours to me even though it probably only lasted for 30 minutes. When it was finally quiet, I looked back up and found corpses scattered about. Different pieces of different things in different places. Shobek closed the portal then, his body slumped a little as it was finally over. I refused to say anything as I reached where the barrier used to be. I was finally free. I scurried up the ramp and back towards my bedroom; I'll shower when he's done throwing his tantrum.
