The house was strangely quiet as I snuck out of my room. It had only been a couple of minutes since I heard the two men stomping away. Where they went was beyond me; I just wanted to get a drink and something sweet before returning to my new habit of being a recluse. My steps were light as I reached the halfway point in the living room. I paused and glanced around suspiciously. A glass of milk sat on the small table beside the couch along with the tv remote. I glanced at the channel that was on and frowned. It seemed to be a news station that was showing images of a developing fire. My stomach churned as I realized their were crucified people screaming in the midst of the flames. I quickly grabbed the remote and turned the TV off, the sight I saw earlier with Shobek ripping monster apart was already threatening my appetite. I sat the remote down and heard loud footsteps, I looked up and froze as a tall man emerged from the wall. His white hair falling in front of two purple eyes that were frosty. Apophis followed behind and bumped into the white-haired man as he had frozen after seeing me.
"Ouch! What the hell man—" Apophis met my eyes and his lips formed an 'oh' shape as he looked back at the familiar man in front of him. Apophis slowly crept in front of the man and smiled bitterly after clearing his throat. "Alright..well.. I suppose this requires a new introduction.."
I glanced between the two men before looking the oddball up and down. He wore a white button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He wore dark pants and black shoes with a small hoop earring in his left earlobe.
"Kasey, this is Shobek's true human form.. uh.. he previously looked like a kid to be less threatening—"
"Thats..Shobek? You're kidding right?" I cut Apophis off and pointed at the new 'Shobek' and stared wide-eyed at Apophis. As he opened his mouth to answer I closed my eyes and dropped my hand, "actually, I shouldn't be that surprised. All you guys ever seem to do is lie to me and keep me in the dark." I quickly turned away and slipped back into my room, locking the door behind me.
If they wanted to hide things from me. Fine. I kinda figured Shobek wasn't really a kid anyways. I just wish he would've admitted it instead of trying to keep up the illusion. Then again, I'm acting too, huh? Pretending like nothing is wrong even though my heart feels so empty. As if I am content when I'm actually terrified. The night terrors are growing worse and I feel it rising in me. I don't know what it is, but the blood thirst it brings makes me panic. I wonder how long it'll take before I finally give in and become one with it..
Probably wont be to much longer…
The two men stood still, staring at the door that the young woman disappeared behind. Shobek quickly slapped the back of Apophis's head, causing the man to yelp.
Shobek turned towards the hallway to the basement as he muttered, "idiot."
Apophis rubbed the back of his head and pouted as he watched the retreating figure. "You know, its your fault for not changing back—" he quickly shut his mouth as the cold dragon paused to look back at the snake. The snake instantly looked away as he puckered his lips slightly.
The dragon stared silently at the snake for a moment before continuing his path toward the descending hallway.
Apophis sighed and looked back where the dragon once stood and started feeling exhaustion creep onto his bones. His eyes instantly lit up as he suddenly jogged near the descending hallway, making sure to be far enough away from the beast that now lurked below him. "Hey!! Where do I get to sleep? Can I have your room?!"
Before the snake even received an answer from the party down below he yelled, "K! Thanks man!!" Apophis quickly made his way to the beasts lair with a smirk as he ignored the loud growl and refusal from the basement.
Shobek let out a long string of curses as he listened to the scaled bastard walk into his room and lock the door above him. "Damn that snake!" The dragon quickly turned towards the body pieces and started a pile, tossing different pieces onto the mound as he walked around the wide basement. He hissed as he chucked the pieces, pretending the limbs belonged to Apophis as he went.
Two hours passed until the mound of flesh was finally lit on fire and Shobek stomped his way to his room. He easily flicked the lock as he made his way up to the first floor. No doubt, the snake was too engrossed into a video game to notice the raging storm coming down the hall. Although Shobek was bristling with fury, he gently opened the door and closed it behind him. Only then did Apophis notice the murderous aura. Apophis closed his eyes and grimaced as he set the controller down and slowly took off the headphones. Only after he set them down did he turn towards the demon who stood in the middle of the room.
"Done already..?" Apophis gave Shobek a tight smile as he watched him wearily.
"I'll give you to the count of three to get out of here."
Hearing the deep, cold voice, Apophis couldn't help but shiver. "Cant we just—"
"One."
"Hey~! C'mon! Were both allies here—"
"Two."
Apophis instantly jumped up and scurried from the room, not wanting to risk anything after enduring days of torture at the hands of a low ranked demon. He lost to much of his power to time to even think of battling anything.
Shobek relaxed after hearing his bedroom door click closed. The exhaustion of today was starting to pile up. He absentmindedly touched his neck where the magical power restraint drank his energy. He was growing tired of having to bow his head. But if he wanted to be free, he needed to hold on a little longer and protect Kasey. She was the key to everything. She WAS his everything. The thought of Ose coming for her made his blood boil. He wasn't going to let anything touch her.
