A little while later, Lora entered the bedroom and noticed Skylar sleeping soundly on the bed. She sighed as she placed a blanket over her "What is the boss thinking? Taking such a sweet girl, it's no surprise that she would be exhausted. "
When she finished tucking her in, Lora headed back down stairs to tell Karma.
"Shes sleeping sir, I think it's best we let her rest after all, she has gone through a lot in just one day"
Karma nodded "Very well I guess that would be a good thing to do"
"Sir I've got to ask why did you take her with us?" asked Jake nervously.
Everyone nodded wanting to know the same thing, he looked at them with a frown on his face but then sighed "I don't know exactly but I felt the compulsion to take her, theres something about her that makes me want to protect and keep her safe"
Kai looked at him and nodded "yeah she reminds me of the girl we met when we was younger, except without all those cuts and scrapes on her"
Karma turned to him his eyes wide "I knew she reminded me of someone....."
"What you talking about boss??
"Its nothing important...I'm going to go check on her"
He turned to leave and quickly went upstairs to his bedroom, once he arrived, he shut the door and glanced over to her. Skylar was curled up into a small ball, sleeping soundly.
"Why do you have to be so cute..." he whispered softly as he ran his fingers through her hair. Skylar moved slightly in her sleep, a soft sigh left her lips and a small smile appeared on her face. Karma sighed as he studied her face "are you the same pup that I met when I was younger? are you the same girl that I vowed to protect all those years ago?" he wondered to himself.
A while later, Skylar began to wake up she rubbed her eyes tiredly as she slowly sat up.
"Did you sleep well, puppy?"
She turned with a start at the sudden voice only to see Karma sitting casually on the other side of the bed. Her cheeks reddened as she nodded shyly.
"y-yes I d-did...."
"Why so nervous puppy, did I scare you?"
Skylar nodded slightly as she puffed out her cheeks. Karma crept closer to her and wrapped his arms around her "sorry for scaring you....."
"Its okay I guess..." she mumbled softly as Karma moved his head closer to her neck.
She blushed at his closeness and wriggled slightly in his embrace.
After awhile, Karma released her from his hold and spoke "you must be hungry, let's head down stairs and get you something to eat"
Skylar nodded slightly as her stomach growled quietly. He smirked slightly "Want me to carry you or get you the crutches??"
She puffed out her cheeks and turned her head away from him.
"It is partly your fault that my leg is all torn up so you can carry me"
"I guess that's fair"
Karma scooped her up into his arms effortlessly making her squeak in surprise as she clung to his shirt. He smirked at her reaction as he secured his grip over her. When they got back downstairs, Karma set her down on the sofa before speaking "What would you like to eat"
"Pancakes with syrup please"
"Alright then I'll be right back with your pancakes"
She smiled happily as Karma headed towards the kitchen. When he left, Bear appeared and climbed onto the sofa, nudging her arm and asking for attention. She smiled softly as she began to run her fingers through his long black fur.
