Days passed and Skylars leg was getting better at a surprising rate, soon she was able to walk without crutches.
One evening however, everyone in the mansion seemed uneasy and tense even Bear was starting to act strange.
"Skylar there is something you need to know" spoke Karma in a serious tone.
"What is it???"
"Theres a reason why this gang is called the demons....its because we are actual demons.."
Skylars eyes widened in surprise then shook her head "That's not true right???"
Karma shook his head and held out his hand, a moment later a ball of fire burst to life in his hand. Her eyes widened as fear slowly crept onto her face, she started to back away trembling in terror.
"No don't be afraid.....we're not gonna hurt you"
He extinguished the flame and took a step closer to her. She froze, unable to move, her eyes fixed on him as he drew closer.
Tears formed in the corners of her eyes she had been with them for over a week and was starting to feel safe with them but now that feeling was shattered. Karma gently grasped her shoulder "I promise you no body here will hurt you, but you needed to know who we really are I know this might be scary to you but you have nothing to fear I promise okay"
Skylar wrapped her arms around his waist as her tears fell "I'll hold you to that promise...." she sniffed as he returned the embrace.
Karma held her tight stroking the back of her head.
"Shhh....shh it's okay just let it out, I know your scared just let it out...."
After awhile, they separated from their embrace and she spoke "why do you decide to tell me this, I've only been here a few days.."
Karma rubbed the back of his head as he spoke "There is a blood moon coming up and when it comes we change into our true forms and we all thought it would be best if you knew beforehand so you wouldn't be as scared when it happens. Also remember when you told me and Kovu? Well that statue is actually a demon that was defeated in battle against humans....and even though hes became a statue he can still use little magic to make wishes at a cost."
"What cost exactly??"
"It depends on what you wish for.... but if a human was to wish him alive they would be bond together forever and the human will live for as long as the demon is alive even if hes turned back in to a statue"
"So the human would be stuck with him forever??"
Karma nodded"That would be the cost for wishing him back"
Skylar thought for a moment before asking "But what was the cost for my wish then?"
"After you made your wish do recall anything happening after that?"
She thought for awhile then her eyes widened "Me and my parents got into a car accident and they were killed in the crash some how I survived"
Karma's eyes widened in shock and stepped forward, petting her head softly. After a moment, she suddenly realized why he was comforting her. In wishing for something or someone to stay by her side and protect her, the price she had to pay was the lives of the people who caused her pain.
"My wish caused the accident, didn't it?"
Karma nodded slightly "yes I'm afraid it did, I'm so sorry"
Skylar returned the embrace and and smiled sadly "Theres no need to apologise, it was my wish after all and this kind of makes sense of why certain animals or people would look out for me when I was in trouble"
