NINA
A couple of minutes after my huge tantrum against Cellon, Ren and the others came. I threw the glass of tequila in the back of the bench I was sitting on and joined Ren and the others.
"What are you doing here?" Ren asked.
"I had a fight with Cellon," I replied nonchalantly.
Ren rolled his eyes. Woah woah, such judgment in there.
"You have to change that attitude Nina. It won't do you any good."
I rolled my eyes in answer, "He was first. I just repaid his treatment in kind."
"I'll talk to you two later. Right now, we have some important matters to discuss."
"Okay boss," I said with a salute.
We gathered inside the small dancefloor in the bar. Miraculously, it was just enough for all of us. Ren, Cellon and I were sitting at the stage while the other mages are sitting in front of us on the cushions arranged by Cellon and I, or more on Cellon on that part.
I looked at their faces. This was my first time seeing mages around my age. There are a total of 60 mages in here.
As a designer, I imagined them in magnificent armor I have designed awhile back in my office. Maybe I can supply them with armor for better chances of defense against the beasts we are constantly facing.
"Hi," Cellon started. Well that was a lame start handsome. I suppressed a laugh, to which didn't escape Ren's stalking skills. Another suppressed chuckle.
Ren cleared his throat, "So I think you've heard the recent developments?"
"That attack in Agrissi?" a blonde-haired girl raised.
"Yes," Ren answered.
"And that Minotaur attack during the attack in Agrissi?" a cute, black-haired boy said.
"Correct," Ren said. "Now, the Great One has speculations of who is behind these attacks."
"Who?" asked the many mages.
"We are not yet sure, but the Great One said it was someone who fought in the Great War."
"But I thought the enemy were purged into oblivion?" an orange-haired guy shouted. He has orange fricking hair straight out from an anime.
What the hell? Now that I saw that, I finally saw that the mages in here have varying colors in their hair. I'm seeing a lot of rainbows right now. Did they color their hair? Even Ren and Cellon have a different shade in their hair. Ren's is white with blue streaks in random places and Cellon's is bright yellow with streaks of black.
While I'm having the darkest brown among the congregation. Seriously, I wanted to color my hair like them.
"Yes," Ren said which brought me back to reality. "That's what we have all learned. But apparently, we were wrong. Maybe they hid somewhere that all our Great Mages couldn't detect their presence until now."
"But why now? The Great War ended a hundred years ago. What's pushing them to doing this at this time?" the same orange-haired guy asked.
"We've got no idea Apollo." Ren replied. "But the Great One has tasked us to regroup."
Oh so that's Apollo, my new teammate. He's such a lively guy.
"We have ten human cities surrounding Agrissi. Each city will be comprised of six mages, so composed of one healing, one spatial, two to three assault and two to three defense mages, whichever is better depending on the lineup."
"How do we decide the lineup then?" a girl with similar hair color of Cellon answered.
"We decide depending on where the mage was assigned before. We don't want to start anew in studying the city. As such, I'm taking Apollo, Sylvia and Ling with me. The original teams per city are a complete lineup. You can group yourselves then."
Apollo and a very bright blue hair girl came towards us. The girl could only be Sylvia. Ling warped behind us which made Cellon jump.
"Wasting mana," he muttered under his breath.
"Apollo," Apollo said as soon as he got in front of me while taking my hand and kissing the back of it.
I giggled, "Wow. That really wasn't necessary."
"Anything for a lovely mage like you," he said with a wink. Oh gods, I can't believe I'm falling to his charms. I am so done with this. I learned how this goes but I still get trapped every single time. Very gullible Nina. Very very gullible.
"That's enough," Ren said while placing his hand on Apollo's shoulder with such force I'm afraid it would break. Well, thanks Ren for pulling me back to my sanity.
Apollo raised his hands, "Okay fine, fine Commander. No hitting on teammate, but you can't deny she's very pretty."
I smiled at him, "Thanks for the compliment Apollo. I'm Nina. Now, we need to get back to business before Ren get mad."
"Ren? He is the Co - "
"Come here Nina," Ren said behind Apollo, to which I happily obliged because I don't want to hear anymore from Apollo. He sure is lively, but he is a bit talkative. I don't want to talk to someone who is as talkative as me.
I approached Ren and sat beside him. Apollo followed me. The girl, Sylvia, was now sitting in front of us beside Ling. As soon as Apollo sat, Ren stood up and addressed everyone.
"Since you are with your team. I am scheduling a team training and an inter-team training. The team training is for when you get attacked in the city you are assigned. The inter-team will be for Agrissi when we get attacked. The last time we fought, we weren't synchronized and our attacks weren't very effective."
Nods of approval was the reply of all mages present of Ren's very brilliant suggestion.
"You could do a simulation or perfect your battle strategies as well as perfecting your magic during the training. But during the inter-team, I'll be the one to decide on that." Ren continued.
"Schedule your own team training. For the inter-team, I'll inform you a week before it. It would happen twice a month."
"Do we have the inter-team training in Agrissi?" Ling asked.
"No, training in Agrissi would be a risk in the human cities. Staying in Agrissi would deactivate our detection devices. I'll choose a city for our training. Anymore questions?" Ren scanned the room. No one raised any.
"So if there is none, I want you to get to know your teammates and identify their magic. Team leaders would be decided among you."
With that he sat and faced us.
Cellon smiled, "So, I am Cellon. I specialize on healing."
"Apollo. I am a fire mage."
"Ling. Spatial mage."
"Sylvia, lightning mage." Oh wow, Sylvia's voice is so cool. She sounds like a rock star.
I swallowed. "Nina. Weapons Mage."
"What?!" Sylvia and Apollo asked in shock.
