I spent the day drafting and thinking of ideas on what to do to improve this little bare space. But, my attention span has always been so short. Before, I could probably create one or two dresses then my mind would drift elsewhere. As I continued working, I can make 4-5 dresses non-stop so long as the environment is right, and then my mind wanders off again.
Here, I found myself solely focused. I finished the floor plan in an hour straight and I had still the vigor to continue on planning. Even though I lack some types of scales, this ruler would be enough for a genius like me. If only I could get what he wants it to be. Hey, I could ask him!
"Hey Ren!" I shouted rather loudly. I covered my mouth and made a peace sign when I noticed he was shooting daggers at me.
"Uh, I have a question. The chairs, tables and all – "
"Furniture," he interjected.
I rolled my eyes at him, "Uh whatever, know-it-all. So, furniture. The furniture you have in there, are you going to bring it all to the new one?"
"Of course, I have to lessen my expenses at all costs."
"Well, that's better then. All you will need is the division for every room and paint of course. As well as putting new electrical circuits because I doubt that storage area even has one. Except for the lighting, but you probably would want to change that as well."
He just looked at me like I was a dumb ant. "Okay fine. I know the answer to that already. I'll get back to work boss!" I answered with a salute, which he just ignored. Urgh~ so strict.
So I continued to work my ass off, occasionally throwing whatever questions I could think of to tease him.
"Hey Ren, how old are you?"
Or, "Yo pretty boy, do you have a girlfriend?"
But everything was either answered by a glare or silence. I sighed. Such is the life of a lone bird.
Around noon, I felt a little stuffy. I stopped working altogether because I felt so hot. His house didn't have an AC, which I wasn't accustomed too. Well, I probably shouldn't say that. He'd just mock my stupid, rich pedigree.
But I couldn't stop feeling uncomfortable. So, I steeled my resolve and asked him politely, "Uh ,Ren?"
He looked at me, one brow raised. "Uh, may I use your bathroom? I really need to take a shower, my sweat's killing me."
He looked at me and said, "Sure. I'll show you the way."
Okay, I am beyond embarrassed, but I have to stay strong. I still have a lot more to request. "And, Ren?"
"What?"
I jumped up in surprise; his face was now inches from mine. "How –"
"What do you want?"
He dodged the question, maybe it was common sense. Well yes of course. He walked up to me without me noticing, since I was spaced out a little earlier. Okay, here goes.
"Uhm, may I borrow your shirt? I don't have a change of clothes."
He nodded and gestured for me to follow. I was so elated of how easy it is that I forgot to ask him the most important thing – where am I to get a change of underwear?
Whatever, I'll just find a way.
And what do you know? I really found a way!
The clothes he gave me were an oversized shirt – he said he has no smaller size – and his newly-bought boxers. He says it would probably gross me out if he let me use his used ones. Well, apparently, this guy has no other clothes.
But it's already very good. The oversized shirt reached just a little above my knee, and wearing the boxers without underwear was such a breeze. It's so comfy, and he wouldn't even find out. I'm good!
I went out the bathroom feeling refreshed and invigorated that ideas came popping one after the other inside my head. Well, that's how geniuses work, so I should get back to it right now.
I immediately sat down and drafted and drafted, I even made a dress in a spare piece of paper because it just came. A genius really has it hard.
When I finished his bar, I stood up, stretched and called for him, "Ren?"
But there was no answer. Did he go outside? But he should have told me. What bad manners, leaving guests alone.
I called again, "Ren?"
Still, no answer. So I looked around to find him while shouting his name. I have looked around his house, upturned every nook and cranny and there is still no sign of Ren.
"Oh where could he be? Why did he leave me alone? Reeeeennnn!!"
"Nina," a gasping voice shook me to the core.
I whirled around and found Ren standing near the backdoor.
"What - ? How - ?"
I don't know how he reached there without me noticing, because that door was right at my left, and I never heard it open.
