I sat rather proudly in my office chair, like a Queen awaiting for her prisoners to be executed. I schooled my face to look indifferent and unforgiving.
When the door opened, Ren came in, with the handsome bartender I played with before.
I stood up rather slowly and gestured for them to sit.
"Welcome guests. Come, sit. Lylia, please prepare some tea."
Ren looked at me oddly. Maybe he's thinking that I'm behaving differently. But he still complied with my request.
"So, it has been awhile Ren. What brought you here, with a handsome young man in tow?" And to add a dramatic effect, I looked at the boy rather seductively.
Ren cleared his throat before answering, "This is Cellon. He is my most trusted bartender. Although he gave you that bottle of vodka, my trust in him never diminished."
"My charms are rather irresistible," I replied with a wink to Cellon to which he gulped loudly.
Ren didn't miss a beat. "Please refrain from teasing him, he's still young."
"Well I strongly disagree. You should train him as soon as possible. Ther are many out there who are much more teasing and deceptive. What would happen to him then?" I replied with a mocking, sad face.
Ren's reply never came as Lylia came back in bringing steaming cups of tea.
"Thank you Lylia. Please wait outside. Our guests and I have something important to discuss."
"Yes Maam. Just call me if there's anything you need."
As soon as she got out, I faced Ren and asked, "So what brought you here?"
"The bar is opening tonight."
My mind went blank for a moment and then "Aaaaaaaahhhhhh~ Really?"
Ren sighed in exasperation.
"Aaaaahhhhhh!!!" I jumped up in joy.
Ren stood up and tried to calm me, "Calm down Nina. Why are you so excited?"
"Well, I really don't know. But I made the design so I'm a bit excited of how it turned out."
Ren smiled, "It turned out splendidly. Actually, we came here to personally bring you there. We'd like you to cut the ribbon."
I glared at him, "You're asking me now? Then what if I wasn't available tonight? What would you do?"
"We'll posptone the opening."
It was my turn to sigh in exasperation, "You are not very good in handling business. Good thing I'm always free at night. Take me there!"
Ren chuckled, "Easy my lady. We still have an hour before the opening."
I sat down and said, "Well then, finish your tea and I'll just prepare myself. Be right back."
I immediately went to my office bedroom. I looked at myself in the mirror and noticed how gorgeous I look. Okay Nina, stop being so vain. But really, anything I wear, it will always look pretty. Okay, excuse me.
So, since it's a business opening, I opted to wear my matching white pantsuit and white jacket with a navy blue inner blouse. I matched it with my favorite black pumps. I retouched my face so I'd look more fresh.
"Hmm good, so pretty Nina." I took a deep breath and slowly walked out of the room nearly smacking my face in Ren's huge chest.
"Oh! What are you doing there?" I asked rather angrily.
"Nothing. It's almost the end of the hour, and I was worried that you took so long there."
I was flabbergasted, "Almost an hour?"
Ren nodded.
"Oh I am so sorry. It felt nothing like that. I should have paid attention to the time. Sorry."
Ren smiled, "Don't worry. There's no harm done."
I smiled, "So then, let's go!"
And together we went out of my office. I stopped by Lylia's desk and told her, "You may go home now. Take two bodyguards with you. I have somewhere to go to."
Lylia nodded and off we went.
We reached the parking area where Ren's Bentley was parked. We silently rode and cruised down the super highway, with silence as our background.
"Uh, Ren, don't you have some music playlists over there?" Sitting at the back has it's disadvantages it seems.
Ren looked at me through the rear view mirror, "No, the stereo's broken."
I sighed, brokenhearted, "Well then, I'll sing for you guys."
Ren sighed and said rather inaudibly, "Please don't."
I chuckled. "Hear my spledid voice - "
A crash silenced my supposed to be debut. I felt a huge thing smash itself on our back sending me in between the two guys. And then the car started spinning. I barely noticed Ren speaking gibberish or maybe cursing our bad luck as I focused myself in looking for something to hold onto.
But the spinning was getting faster, a feat impossible to happen. In what I understand, the spin should start to slow. In the chaos of it all, my hand slipped and accidentally held on to Ren's. His hand felt hot. I felt my hand was burning. Involuntarily, I jerked my hand away. I felt my head smash something hard and then no more.
Darkness engulfed me.
But a sinister feeling crept up into my heart.
I felt death is upon me.
