Anemone fell back when he pulled the sword out. She slumped on the wall, clutching her stomach. Blood dripped down her fingers as she stared at the retreating figure. It wasn't fair, she thought. Her life couldn't end like this. He needed to pay for what he did to her parents and her.
She watched the figure laugh as he dropped his sword. He seemed to say something but all she heard was a shrill noise. She struggled to focus as she tried to heal her wound. It wouldn't heal from her small magic. More blood dripped past her fingers.
Faintly, she could see a dark small figure jump at the man. It looked like his arms were sliced off along with his legs... then the head. Her vision was getting fuzzy and she didn't understand what was happening. She laid her head on the wall, the coldness seeming to seep into her bones.
"Anemone!"
Ah... this familiar voice. Tears fell down her cheeks. A face loomed over her. It was her fairy prince. For the first time, she saw him cry. His tears fell past his cheeks over her face, like raindrops. It had rained the last they met, she thought. She tried to focus on his face.
His face had developed more. More handsome. More ethereal. His ever vivid blue eyes that were like the summer sky sparkled. His hood covered his hair. She felt his hand covered hers, trying to heal. It was too late. She had bled too much.
His forehead touched hers. "I'm sorry, Anemone. I came too late," he cried. "I'm sorry!"
"Fa-fairy prince..." she whispered. Her voice came out weak. "It's okay... Help..." She choked as blood started spilling out of her lips. He wiped the blood from her lips. She struggled to continue. "Get... gold orb..."
He shook his head slowly. "Anemone, please don't die. Please!" His other hand caressed her cheek.
She smiled sadly. "I'm sorry... Please," she pleaded. She needed him to do what she couldn't do. "Gold orb..."
"Okay! Stay here, alright? Wait for me to come back!" He got up and left her. Her smile deepened. Where would she go? He was an idiot. Like her brother, Cayden. The thought about her brother... He'll be upset. Probably throw a fit.
More tears fell and another wave of blood poured out. She spat it out to the side, her wound opening further. Her chest must have been damaged internally... when that man pushed her. She really was going to die. Cayden... she should have hugged him when she had that chance.
Her parents...
Warm hands held her cheeks, pulling towards his chest. "Anemone, I have it. What do you need this for?"
She looked at the orb. Anemone raised a bloody hand to rest on the egg. It was bigger than her hands, shaped like an egg. She didn't know. She didn't know what to do next. Her mother never told her. They didn't say anything.
"Anemone!"
She held the orb close to her, resting her head on his chest. Her eyes closed in thought, not knowing she wouldn't be able to open them again.
"Aneeeemoooneeeee!"
