The doctor is watching me strangely. The nurses are glaring at me intensely. This man is looking at me lovingly.
I don't understand this man.
"H-How did this happen?" The lady doctor with copper-red hair asks him. She is taller than me. Her freckle-free face has a tinge of redness as she checks the wound on Eli's ear. "These looks like…"
She looks at me warily.
"Doctor Anderson, my wife was a little… feisty when we were..." Eli peers at me and looks down with a flustered expression.
"..." I tried to scare him earlier by biting and drinking his blood. But why does it look like he's even more into me now? What would ever work on this man?
"Haha…" Doctor Anderson laughs awkwardly, but the pain is clear in her blue eyes. Doctor Anderson, huh? That nurse mentioned this name earlier. Is this lady doctor in love with Eli? He cocks his head when she starts cleaning the wound. "It's not as bad as it looks. It won't leave a scar. Still, I would advise taking caution… next time."
They look good together… Picturesque. When he has someone like her vying for him, why is he bothering someone like me? I cross my arms and look away. They look more intimate than Eli and I have ever been together. They must be close. It's no wonder that the nurse was acting like I snatched someone else's man away.
"Meow." The Devil is sitting on Eli's lap and meowing to him to catch his attention. Eli is listening to her she talks about medical stuff that I can't understand while she bandages his ear.
He can't see you, dumb cat.
The Devil snaps. "Tell him that I want him to look at me."
It's impossible.
"Tell him now."
Impossible.
"I don't like you." The Devil hisses at me.
I don't like you either.
They are still talking. Well, I am glad that there's someone for him. I can leave with no regret. For seven years, I held myself back from killing myself because of my mother who turned out to be my imagination.
Since he kept saying that he loved me and all, I was a little worried if he was going to be okay without me. I didn't want him to turn out like me.
He has someone. Not just one person. He has a family too. He has friends too. Then, why does he want someone like me? I am a crazy person who argues with an imaginary cat.
"Hey, why do you keep calling me imaginary?" The devil growls at me. "I am part of your mind. I am as real as you are."
I am not worried about him anymore. You shouldn't be worried about him either.
"When did I say that I was worried?" The cat guffaws. "Cats like warm and comfortable places."
You aren't a real cat.
"Only to you." The cat takes his tongue out.
It's pointless to argue with this thing. It's awkward to wait for them to finish their conversation, but I don't know why I am waiting in the first place. I don't have any reason to wait. I should go back to the house. I take a step toward the door.
"Wife." I feel his fingers curling around my forearm. "Where are you going?"
How did he walk so fast? I guess doctors are quick on their feet. "I am heading back to the house. Carry on. I will see you later."
"It's okay. I am done for the day." Eli looks over his shoulder. "Doctor Anderson, if you have more questions, you can text me later."
"Thank you, Doctor Sanguine." The lady doctor looks at me. "I am sorry. You must have been bored."
I don't like this woman. Even if Eli and I have a strange relationship, she already knows that he is married. Shouldn't she fold her feelings by now? "Yes, I was bored."
"Aren't you contradictory?" The Devil sneers. "Who was relieved that this little marshmallow has someone?"
Don't point out unnecessary things.
"I am sorry." She apologizes to me again. I ignore her and walk out of the room. I hear the sound of Eli's steps following me. Then, I don't hear them anymore. Did he go back? I want to turn around, but…
"Fourth Brother!"
I halt on my tracks when I see the woman running in my direction. With ten inches heel, a short red dress that is showing off her pale shoulders and toned long legs, and long auburn hair, she's standing out for sure. As she gets closer to me, her beautiful face begins to contort. Just then, someone covers my eyes.
