Chapter 90 - A Tourist before the Job

I left my mask on my bed as I went down, slapping myself against the mattress. I looked at the ceiling then to my mask that sat beside me. I picked it up and looked at it.

"Your becoming more and more popular these days, making trouble for me as well,"

I told the inanimate mask.

It stared right back at me with no reply to my statement, as if I was expecting one anyways.

I sighed and put the mask back next to me then got up and started unpacking and putting stuff were it belonged. It was going to be a 2 week stay so I might as well get comfy.

...

Over the next few days I was going out and sightseeing for myself, going to all the beautiful places in the country which attracted this 10 star hotel into its midst.

I went to the cherry blossom path, the aqua falls, the evergreen garden, citrus market and more. So far it was just market places and tourist attractions. Restaurants were up next and currently I was heading to my first one.

Out of the hotel I walked and towards the road. After some searching managed to squeeze a booking in the popular restaurant and it was only a 10 minute walk through the city. By public transport it would take longer so walking was the better option. I walked on the paths while staring at my surroundings, taking in the beautiful combination of houses and nature as the falling leaves came down like feathers.

I arrived at the restaurant and on the top up front, the restaurant name was written in messy at the same time elegant handwriting, the crow. That's what this place was called. Inside had a calm atmosphere and the lights were dim. It was the definition of a high class restaurant. I walked in and a little bell chimed, closing the door behind me I was prepared for a mouthwatering dinner.

...

Each photo that I took I sent to the group chat, none of them included my face in case someone hacked and saw it. The pictures were all pretty and with my state of the arts camera on my phone there wasn't a need to get a camera for the trip.

A lot of our little conversations started off there then completely strayed as we kept talking but i didn't mind at all because of the fact that people all loved to socialise, now that included me. When I open messages I just see the unnamed group chat on the list and nothing else because I delete all the conversations after except this.

This was the last day I get to enjoy myself so I'm just going to sleep in and not worry. At least that's what I thought to myself as I got into bed and closed my eyes.

Every time, his face pops up, hollow cheek bones and strong jaw, defined facial features and well toned muscles with a modern haircut that fits him like it was there from birth. The way his cheeks rise when he smiles or laughs and shows his white teeth and the loving green eyes of a parent. Elijah. Why did you have to make me feel so much pressure? Why did you leave to create chaos? Why don't you stay with me and we'll continue like how it was when we were little.

...

In casual attire around black, and white, I walked out the doors of the hotel and took my phone out to retrieve the address again. I took a photo of the note for the address and also, now I know it was also for confirmation, my mind was still having a hard time excepting he was alive. Because I saw him die, with my own two eyes and my own two ears.

My heart was beating faster then normal and I could feel my own breathing getting quicker, it was like I was running a marathon, but I wasn't, I was walking, but the place I was walking too, the person who I was walking too, just made me feel this way.

I got onto the bus and I sat down trying to calm my nerves. I made sure to tightly close my bag so no peak of the mask could be seen, just because I'm in a different country doesn't mean people won't recognise me. I looked out the window at the moving greenery, houses, apartments and people. All moving so slowly. I let out a sigh and I readjusted myself so that I could just close my eyes. I saw black, and it calmed me down just a little. But a little was good enough for now.

...

I got off at my stop about 20 minutes later with my backpack. It was cold here in Ameria as it was approaching winter, it doesn't snow but it gets chilly. I took out my light grey trench coat and put it on over my white t shirt and black jeans, I snuggled my body with the warm material. I continued to walk to my destination. I thought I'd come here in the school holidays back in year 8 but it seems I forgot and got a bit busy being caught up in work. Brain you have to work harder.

I arrived at the destination and it wasn't what I expected. It was right next to a well known bar and it was lively as ever. I looked at the place, it hardly looked like a place for robots. It was a normal house in a line with more houses. Since it was right next to the bar it would of been cheap as a compensation for the noise. No one would expect an ex-noble to be in there.

I took a big breath in and stepped. Another step. One foot in front of the other.

I pressed the doorbell and hear the faint sound of it, ringing in the walls of the 2 story house.

The door was answered by a tall spindly looking man dressed in a tuxedo. He bowed and stood at the side of the doorway. Walking in I heard the man close the door behind me and he walked behind me. Myself and my instinct on alert I cautiously continued in. Then a string killing intent alerted me, though silent, the man didn't seem to hide his kill intent.

I turned around and saw the murder weapon in his hands, already in its own sheath of blood. I grabbed his wrist then tackled him to the floor. With an 'Oof' he landed on the wooden floor with a hand held behind his back and his other on the floor in front of him, held in such a way he was forced to drop the knife. Getting down close so there wasn't much sound, I whispered in his ear.

"Don't think I'll be so easy to kill,"
