Chapter 91 - A Brother in Battle and Blood

The man did something out of my expectations and smiled back at me. It was a creepy smile that stood my hairs on end.

"And don't think I'm so easily pinned,"

The man said. I was caught off guard by all his actions and in turn my grip was loosened, he slid his hand off his back so that his body wasn't pinned. Then he twisted around and my eyes went wide. His arms should be broken! I quickly jumped back before he could get a kick in. He stood up with calm actions as if he didn't just try to murder me. He massaged his wrists then did some stretched to his arms before looking up at me and smiling the same creepy smile he did before. One look at that and you know that your face to face with a psychopath.

"That was fun, if you want to play again I'm all in,"

He said then he chuckled in a low and menacing manner.

I pursued my lips and I could feel the beads of sweat collecting on my forehead.

"Tell me why I'm here,"

He narrowed his eyes but kept smiling.

"Your here because you travelled here, you rang the doorbell and I let you in,"

My eyes were following his every movement, I was more cautious then ever and even a little...scared? It's been so many years.

He walked towards me and his smile wasn't there anymore, he looked at me the same way that a cat looked at a bird. Prey.

I stood my ground or maybe, I wasn't able to move. I was breathing shallow breaths. Every step he took was audible and I felt like it was reverberating, every step was a crisp and clear sound, every step was deliberate and every step was a step closer to my impending death.

"That's enough toying around with him Alister,"

Another man came into the room and I immediately felt gratitude, but upon closer inspection he was looking at me the same way.

"The master wants to see him,"

Alister looked back at the newcomer, then back at me, he once again bowed to me. When I walked in front of him to follow the newcomer to the master I swear he looked at my back and smiled again. Goosebumps were forming at the back of my neck as well as a shiver.

I rubbed my arm and walked through the door to the next room.

This was dark, I could see the faint outline of a dining table but that was it. The highlights on that table stood out like a street lamp on a lonely street. Maybe that's why I didn't notice the person at the end of table, sitting there and staring at me straight in the eyes with his own emerald ones.

A scrap of a chair cut through the silence of the room and dragged my attention from the highlights of the table to the person who scraped the chair on the floor.

I couldn't see him clearly but as he walked into the light his features became more prominent.

"Thank you for coming esteemed guest of nobility, would you care for a formal welcome from a lowly refugee like me?"

He said with a warm smile as he cocked his head as the question. His chestnut hair was still the same as I remembered and his smile as well.

"I would love a welcome from you Elijah, if I declined I don't think that would make me a very good younger brother right?"

I said back at him.

His smile grew into a grin but that immediately got wiped off his face as he glared over my shoulder.

"Back off Alister, and I can see your eyes Lucius,"

I looked back at the two men whom I meant beforehand and saw them both attempting the same thing, one had the knife in hand and the other looked at me as if I was prey.

Lucius was a tall man with black hair and European features, Alister had white hair and features that fit with his spindly body. Lucius was taller then Alister and had a more muscular body whereas Alister looked like he could snap any second even though he was the one with the knife in hand.

They bowed to Elijah at his command and then they both started looking at me with scary expressions.

"That's enough you two, go out and sit in the room next door,"

He told them off as if he were reprimanding children and these two men were anything but.

"Demons are troublesome creatures, always want to eat and never full."

Elijah told me as if he were just complaining formally about the efficiency of a business proposal.

I looked at him wide eyed.

"...d-demons?"

I wasn't sure if I had head him properly. He looked at me with surprise, like I was suppose to know this stuff already.

"I though they taught you this stuff at the school for nobles, seems like they don't."

Then I remembered he never went to the school, but he doesn't seem to be concerned with the supernatural so how is he learning all this stuff if he never went to the school. I doubt Althgar gave permission for this information to be shared outside.

Then who was his teacher? Were one of the parents traitors? Or it might be possible, no no no, that can't be it. He wouldn't do that. Right? Althgar wouldn't tell him exclusive information when he's a traitor to the noble world. I don't think he even knows that earth is run as a monarchy.

He reached out a hand to me and with a bright smile he announced.

"My brother in battle and blood, I will tell you of the wonders of the world that you have yet to see and we shall knock down all that stands in front of our glorious sun. "
