Chereads / The Unwilling Heir / Chapter 24 - Police station

Chapter 24 - Police station

With my hand wrapped neatly in bandages the pain subdued. I couldn't move it or feel anything with it. It just flopped by my side. On the car, Mark was still driving and glancing into the mirror back at me. The worried expression did not disappear nor did he make an effort to hide it. We went home and I decided that the next location would be it. Before I go there, I will get this hand healed even if I had a big scar on it. If it functions well then it's fine.

Of course when I get home my parents start complaining.

"Micheal, you careless brat. How did this happen?" My mother asked in distain

"I fell over and grazed my hands. The teachers forced me to go to the medical office." I fluently lied.

The words held no hesitation and flowed out as smooth as silk. Yet.

"I'll repeat, tell me what happened. I did not ask for useless lies you deceitful child," she exclaimed back.

"I told the truth," I said. Not willing to tell what actually happened.

"Useless child," I heard her mutter as she stormed off.

I shook my head at her predictable reaction and continued going upstairs to my horrendous room. I haven't built up the courage to change it back yet, I still need to get it past my father while he's still at home.

Sigh, life is so unfair.

It was about 4 in the afternoon when a knock sounded from the back door. Through the security cameras I installed there that are connected to my laptop I could see two policeman. They're probably here to talk about the incident yesterday. They can't really do much though, the police are a military force and each chief officer is hired by either me or my parents. The lesser ones are then either hired by the branch family members or the chief officer.

I decided to not make the jobs of the police officers to hard and abandoned my original plan.

I went to go answer the door to see different police officers from yesterday.

My hand was bandaged in white so it wasn't very hard to miss, they eyed it and then looked at me.

"Come on, don't make this too hard for us kid," one of them said.

They started walking to the police car and I followed. Before that I gave a reassuring look to the butler that was behind me.

We all got into the police car and drove in awkward silence to the local police station.

As we walked into the station, I looked around, proud of my work. I designed this station and hired the workers personally. This is my masterpiece.

The first piece of work that I ever did for Coltus.

"Who's the highest ranking officer here?" I asked.

"The chief officer, he's visiting today." One of them said.

"Can I speak with him?" I asked again.

"No." The same police officer said firmly.

"Then let me ask again, can I see Tracker 01," I asked in a serious tone.

The two police officers looked at in confusion, one of the nearby police officers that was working looked up in surprise.

He was the head of this station and one of the few who knew of the chief police officer's identity.

He stood up, and walked over. Convinced I was of importance because I knew that name.

"How are you Daniel," I asked the police officer that came to me.

"I'm very good sir, let me take you to meet the chief officer." He said respectfully.

I looked back to see the dumbstruck expressions of the two police officers that took me here. I also the look at the glaring eyes of Daniel as he looked at those two.

It was one this for a head of station to talk respectfully with a person that wasn't a fellow police member, it was another to call that person sir!

Well what can I say, I'm special... unfortunately.

We walked past the working desks and the interrogation rooms as we arrived at the big glass doors of the meeting room. Daniel motioned first me to stay outside as he entered the room.

No meeting was taking place but I reckon the police officer wanted to work there because of the design. You could see outside and have a full view of the vicinity, he was a tracker previously so having a full view of the area would calm his mental state into being more relaxed.

I heard them talking but couldn't make out any words because of the soundproof system I believed was so important for the meeting room when I designed this place.

Gareth came out to greet me.

"What brings you to this humble police station boss?" He said with a smile.

"I just want clearance on a case that I was involved in, if you wouldn't mind doing that Gareth?" I asked returning the smile.

He gave me a questioning glance.

I did some work on a classified case and was found by two police officers who brought me in to be interrogated." I explained as we walked back into the meeting room.

"Easy enough, anything else sir?" He asked as he wrote it down on his note pad.

I thought about it, I could check the station.

"Updates on this station?" I said.

"It's one of the leading stations with high teamwork levels, high efficiency and the most cases solved, other stations have also taken up this design because of your parents orders." He said in a serious tone.

I nodded my head.

"That will be all,"

Walking out of the meeting room I walked straight out past the two police officers who looked at me but didn't stop me.

I called Mark and told him to bring the limousine and not the Porsche.

Driving back to the mansion in a pleasant mood on how my police station is going I went straight to my room.

Might as well have an early shower, dinner is going to be in about 30 minutes anyway.

I washed off all the powder on my still numb hand, powerful anaesthetic she put on.

After the shower I could see pick tissue starting to form, edges were still black but it was getting better. I applied the power and got my outlet to put on the bandages because the burned hand was the right hand.

He wet the bandages and wrapped them around my hand.

"Tell anyone about this and you will find your self jobless. Thank you,"

He went away with slight perspiration at the back of his neck.

I sighed and layer on my blankets facing the ceiling with my hands behind my head.

20 minutes felt like a few hours when dinner finally was ready.

I couldn't really do much because I didn't have any homework nor was I bothered to continue hacking when I knew my skills weren't up to par.

Dinner happened in a silence that I was happy with, mother didn't bring up the bandage and father didn't seem to care when he glanced at it.

All is going well! I hope...
