Chapter 14 - Trap

After some thought, King Lance decided to make his coronation a way to gain more trust from other kingdoms through establishing an alliance. Though, his plan is still rough around the corners, he is confident that he can pull it off. The next thing he needed to do is to marry a royalty that is a member of the alliance. However, his mind and heart is set to someone already, his Beloved Queen Shekinah. Her odd behavior piqued his interest. She seems to hide something from him, but just shoved the idea off. 'Would she be there at the selection process?' he thought. He deeply sighed and decided to go the west wing where his father's and the late Queen's chamber situated. Even though his mother, the recent Queen and His father are married, they don't share the same room, guess that should be called 'marriage for convinience'. It's very lonely thinking of that. As he walked along the corridors, his servants greeted him with their utmost sincerity. They love their King so much. Minutes later, Lance arrived at his father's chamber, he composed himself before knocking the door.

"Father, It's me Lance." He said.

"Come in." As Lance went in, he saw his father signing some letters.

"That's for?" Lance inquired.

"What else? An invitation for the selection!" His father stated gleefully. Lance couldn't bring himself disappointing his father and get into another heated fight with him just like before.

"Oh." Lance plainly said.

"I-uh, I also invited the Queen of Layla." At the mention of this, Lance's face lit up. His father, who noticed this only sighed and shake his head sideways.

"Father, I'm here to talk some serious business." A sudden change of aura made the King looked up to his son. He gestured his son to sit down as he set aside the papers on his desk.

"It's about the alliance. I think it's about time to tell you about my plans about it." He stared at his father waiting for an answer and he got a slight nod.

"The alliance of course, will benefit everyone and it's for the better good however, it's not all of that.." He searched for the right words to say to his father. The silence is heavy for both of them.

"Speak. What it is that you are planning?" King Conrad inquired. His brow arched at the man in front of him, his own son.

"It's my own way of setting trap for the sorcerer" The King widened his eyes. He lean forward and looked at his son intently.

"Details."

Ariya took time to stroll around her Kingdom which, she seldom do. She barely has the time now and she cannot miss the gentle breeze of the night enveloping her skin. She slightly shivered but liked the feeling. 'This is gonna be a long fight' Ariya said to herself. With a heavy heart, she continued to stroll around the vicinity. The Darkness never scared her, in fact, she grew up loving it. Thinking of this, Ariya remembered her late parents who died protecting her. When she was a child, her mom would slap her in her face because practicing necromancy. She didn't understand it at first, but when her whole family is assassinated, abd she was the only left, she then understood what her mother meant. They are feared and considered as 'demons'. She sighed at the sudden surge of memories and bitterly smiled at it.

"Don't worry ma, I will definitely hunt those hypocrites down. I promise." She said while looking at the moon with her eyes closed.
