I dreamed of galaxies.
Hundreds of stars surrounding me.
A universe.
Then the dream changed.
I stood upon the corpse of the worm, and the corpse was the earth beneath me.
Above I looked to find the source of light, only to see a star above me... my star.
The star of ice and fire and storms and lightning.
The star was surrounded by a barrier of sorts, a thin film I couldn't see but just intuitively knew was there, stoping any more energy from going in.
And finally I could see why.
Surrounding the star was a swirling nebula of power and magic!
Fire raged as volcanic eruptions from the massive cloud of flame and ash, burning at the barrier and trying to make its way in.
A typhoon of water and ice shattered and raged and crashed against the barrier from the opposite side, steam building up and slamming into the barrier like a fist!
Dark clouds of wind and thunder raged on the opposite side of where I currently stood, lightning and blades of wind striking at that barrier fiercely!
Finally came a bright point of light, so white and pure I could barely look at it, and from it came shards of multicolored glass almost, polygons and fractals of light of every color, spreading from the white center.
I stared at the eruptions of flame, the storms of lightning and wind, and the typhoon of the ocean and its ice and steam, and the rainbow of light pouring from a point of white.
'My body can't handle the sheer amount of magic put in it... even a dragon cant withstand this much as an infant.'
The worm's corpse beneath me shook.
No... it... lifted.
I watched the shell and carapace dissolve into soil and dirt, stone and crystal shards, slowly drifting up, towards the star.
My mind flashed to what the center of the star was.
My soul, my self, my spirit which made its center... the pinprick of hyper-condensed power crushed into a tiny dot by the power around it.
That pinprick was condensed to the point where, in this strange world, it held gravity.
The elements weren't trying to break into the shell... they were being pulled towards it by the star's own gravity.
And now the earth of the worm was being pulled in too.
'This can't be just a dream... but how can I see outside the barrier?'
I stretched my wings and took off, finding that in this strange metaphysical space, I simply flew as willed, but physical motions seemed to help.
I flew around, watching as a worm corpse the side of a small planet in comparison to me collapsed into metal and stone, and became many asteroids striking the barrier, most as small as pebbles or a gem, some bigger than towns!
I could only compare the size of it all to how big I myself felt with the "body" I had here.
'Earth has been added out here? So I AM awakened, but all thanks to that goddess? I don't understand...'
I looked at my star. 'I'm sure of one thing though: I have no earth magic in there yet. So until my body grows stronger or I find how to safely let in power from outside the barrier, I can't gain earth magic to use.'
So from where I currently oriented myself... I started at earth, so that was "down".
The star was in the center, with air magic "above". Fire was to the "left", with water to the "right", meaning of the four elements I had the greatest understanding of, each was opposite its own opposite.
In what I'll call the "front" is light.
So... what's behind?
Nothing.
'If I were to eat a being of darkness magic, could I gain that too?'
I shook my head almost immediately to clear such thoughts.
'Am I insane?! Why the hell would I do that? I already feel worried if that barrier will hold up until I can grow strong enough to handle the magic I now have, much less add more!'
'Plus any creature of darkness magic would be intelligent, and judging by Korven, not evil by nature unless it chooses.'
I kinda stopped. 'Actually, can a predator hunting prey be called "evil"? That worm was trying to eat me, so I killed it. But evil or good never came into play. That's just nature and survival.'
'The only evil is to do something unnecessary, such as killing for sport or hurting others for unnecessary things...'
I sighed. 'Why does it feel like when evaluating what is evil versus what is natural, I keep finding humanity to be the side that hold the most evil? Do two-legs just all suck, and exist as greedy murderous assholes?'
I flew around a bit more.
Might as well have some fun sightseeing this amazing sight of these beautiful forces at play.
It felt like stargazing, looking at the cosmos above and being in awe at the majesty of the great forces that felt so far beyond me.
'...hey what?'
I froze in shock as I passed by the water magic, as within it was an icy tundra, and I could... see someone there.
~ ~ ~
Kire stares around in awe at the icy landscape around him, and the raging ocean beyond it flowing with ice and steam at the star above him.
"What the HELL?!"
He was pretty sure he wasn't dreaming normally, but he definitely remembered going to sleep...
He reached for his magic and as he pulled water magic to try and feel the ice below, the ice below was what responded.
"...this... is my magic? Or the source of it?"
A sound echoed above him, a weight of wind pushed past as a "Thwump!" Echoes across the ice as something landed behind him.
Apprehension gripped him as he turned... to see a creature he instantly felt affinity towards.
His magic inside him was rigged towards the creature, as if it were creating its own gravity pulling at him, a bond he never realized was there.
It's fur was dark blue, with light blue fluff around its feet and tail, the lighter blue fur standing out more because it was a good deal longer than the regular fur, like hair.
Points on its large ears at the side of its head, the very end of its tail and along its wings were also lighter, but more indigo-purple with hints of pink or red.
It's wings has fur growing on it, mostly baby fluff making it hard to tell if it would grow feathers over the skin there or fur.
On its forehead between its eyes a four-pointed star of white was there with a small bump in the center, and two similar bumps were on top of its head more towards the back of its skull.
"Are you a god?"
The beast tilted its head at him.
[Why would you call me a god?"
"Well... I'm not awakened, yet I am. I never learned to absorb world energy and still can't, yet somehow I have magic of air and water. Magic that... comes from you. That's what a god does right? They grant their divine powers to their followers."
[Is what you hold divine power?] The voice of this creature seemed genuinely curious.
"Uh..." Kire thought in silence, still staring at this creature about twice as tall as a large hunting dog, like a greyhound, but much longer.
"No... it seems to just be regular elemental magic."
[Interesting.]
"If not a god... what are you?"
[I'm a dragon, I'm pretty sure. Or at least I was born from one. Recently...]
The dragon looked at itself bending its long neck.
[I'm beginning to wonder if I'm becoming something else. But I think I'm still a dragon, though not one that you'd find elsewhere.]
The dragon looked at Kire. [I am young however, so who knows?]
The dragon shrugged with its wings, surprisingly expressive and down to earth.
It looked at the water world around them. [So you draw power from here, my water magic?]
"Water and air I've found beginning to course through me."
The dragon looked at him. [Makes sense, I did use lightning charged with cold energy to help guide it through your heart when. I brought you back to life.]
"When you WHAT?!"
