Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Awakened?

I laid down my head, looking down from a cliff.

My gaze flickered over to... my new companion? I dunno what to call this guy. He seems nice, and seeing as I've little clue where I'm going, I asked him to help point me to where a river leading to the ocean is.

So. Water... I have water. I have used ice fire, which is probably easier because it IS a form of fire, but the element is water.

And from what I can think of, water magic might be useful. Like. REALLY useful.

'I want water arms to help me pick up shit instead of constantly having to curl my tail around it or use my teeth... ugh.'

Here's the issue: my magic seems to evolve as my Star does.

Actually good question. Does every awakened create a "world" to identify their magic?

Okay, back to my point. As my Star evolves, so does my magic, as long as it still falls under a magic I have.

So if I want this massive amount of water element power to allow me to actually control water and not just cold flame, I need to somehow... get water to exist on my Star.

...how the f*ck do I get water on a STAR?!

Yeah I have no clue.

I settled down, using light magic to take one last look for any predators or dangerous life around, and curled into myself to get some sleep.

"What is THAT?!"

A soldier screamed as a blur ripped into their flanks.

What could anyone say? "A man, obviously?"

No!

A demon perhaps? What else could you call that thing?!

The blur ripped into their flanks like a whirlwind, spinning and slashing, blood flying out in crescents trailing from the blades sucked in and shot back out by its grasp.

Some attacked only to die before even getting close to touching it, some tried to run only for it to rip them apart from behind, but a space was slowly carved out where the blur stood still, now once again visible as a man.

A boy really.

The half giant stepped up, and the men felt heartened!

Yes! He's a half giant, and is much sturdier than most mortal weapons!

They felt hope, and stared down this devil among them, even as its companions fought in a bloody battlefield further on, no longer two sides but a sea of blood and individual skirmishes.

This was war.

Kire stood, him mind blank as he couldn't quite catch up.

Power flooded into him, cold yet fast, and he stared at the half giant.

'Kill. Kill now so I don't die.'

Something came with the power, a sort of boiling rage-no. Rather... it was aggression, predatory and dangerous, but it wasn't anger.

The emotion or feeling, the surge of instinct that felt ancient and deep set, dulled the awareness of what he had done, the lives taken.

There was simply the enemy, and there was the power surging within his own flesh.

Kire lifted his arm, sword in hand, and crouched as sparks of white energy began to jump out of his skin and go back in rapidly along his limbs.

The giant lost his expression of confidence as white lightning began to jump along Kire's limbs, and the surrounding cheers began to die off.

"...awakened."

A whisper, small and simple, yet it spread like dragon fire throughout the ranks.

White lightning crackled as frost spread along the blade, and Kire grinned, feral and terrifying as he moved in a sudden charge!

The giant took a step back as the human charged him, suddenly a blur of speed surrounded by crackling lightning thanks to air fusion, and the giant swung his ax with terrifying power!

"Cocky little shit, you shouldn't have jumped!"

Once in the air, you can't dodge easily! No matter how fast Kire was, the ax must hit-

Cold. Calm. Collected.

Ice is an extension of water magic, and water fusion is dexterity and flexibility.

Kire bent in midair in a way that made the onlookers back's twinge in sympathetic pain, as if playing limbo with an ax!

As the ax passed over him Kire straightened again, sword arm raised against his chest, and lightning surrounded by cold mist crackled along the blade as he stabbed!

And his blade plunged straight through the giants head, at a speed and power beyond a normal mortal.

And so the champion died at the hands of an newly-awakened of water and air magic.

You know I don't get how me being in this word changes anything.

Nothing I've done yet seems particularly significant, it's not like my actions are affecting kingdoms and wars or something.

I'm just kinda wandering around in this world.

I have some very basic goals... but beyond that?

No clue what I'd like to do.

Now... let's see about that water magic, shall we?

A star with an atmosphere. Right now the water element has been applied as a form of fire by fusing with its concept by burning a different form of air, yada yada yada, I can only guess how it's actually working by the logic of magic elements beyond basic science.

'How in an Star can I create actual water though? I have shards of ice floating within the seas of icefire, which then explode into steam as the indigo flames take over the area in the constant cycle the Star has.'

But the icefire is too cold to have "water".

'For now...'

I focused my attention on the atmosphere.

'...actually... what's beyond this?'

I pushed my attention and self past the limits of the atmosphere, and found... a wall?

I can best describe it as an invisible wall. And most weirdly... I can feel it's limiting me. Or the star. Whichever.

The atmosphere isn't full thinned yet. In other words, this veil is compression the entire atmosphere and Star to be smaller then they naturally would be.

Its... limiting... my magic.

'Oh HELL NO. Bitch I'm about to BREAK YOU.'

I gathered my will, and SLAMMED-

"KIEEEEEEEEH!"

'FUCK! OUCH!'

The raccoon startled awake and almost fell of his small rock he lay on.

[The BLOODY BONES OF IWAE are you screeching about?!]

[Ouch! Fuck, I think I found... the rest of me... ouch...]

[What the spark does that mean?]

[Uh... I found a limit on my magic and when I tried to break it, it felt like my insides got stabbed.]

[...so... your body is too weak to fully integrate your magic. And you tried... to punch it into submission.]

[...is this limit common for awakened creatures?]

[Yes. We all deal with it at first. As we grow accustomed it eventually integrates... though it might also just be waiting for you to, Well, grow up a bit. You realize that when viewed through light fusion you look like a second sun of magic right?]

[...oh. Okay, wait till I'm older. Right.]

[We good? Can I sleep now?] He asked, peeved.

[Yeah, I won't try that again, don't worry.]

He huffed and turned about, settling in again.

I used light fusion briefly, breathing in as my pain faded, and then relaxed, trying to sleep.

So I forgot to try and create water in the atmosphere of my Star. For now.
