Chapter 5 - Ancient spirit

Fan Huang grit his teeth in surprise as he leaped backward and checked his surroundings. Fan Huang thought he must have been going crazy and relaxed himself and continued to walk down further but heard another voice in his head.

"Don't you want to become strong?"

Fan Huang stricken with fear put on his guard against this voice.

"What do you want with me?" Fan Huang asked the voice.

"Oh i just saw that you were walking down the mountain and thought i could help you out. I was once a cultivator like you but then i died and have become a weak spirit that wanders that wanders around the lands in search of someone that needs my help, and It seems like i have found that someone."

"How do i know what you are saying is the truth?" Fan Huang could tell when people were lying or not from his past experience with his auntie and the rest of his village. Those people were cruel and nasty and had experienced it firsthand.

"How do i prove it to you then?" The voice in his head suggested.

Fan Huang put his hand on his chin and pondered in thought for a couple of second but his eyes lit up in genius and said

"Then teach me how to become a cultivator."

The voice inside his responded

"Oh yes. I promise you will become a cultivator feared by all and you will become the strongest to ever live, However you need to promise me something."

"What do you need?"

"Once you are strong enough i need you to give me a body in which to take over so I can live once more. It's not that hard. All you need to is get to core formation and perform a ritual."

"What should i call you?" Fan Huang questioned the voice inside his head.

"You should call me Yao Yang" The spirit responded.

"Since you help people like you say you do ca you tell me what to do right now."

Fan Huang then proceeded to tell Yao Yang about his life so far and the sect exam.

"Hmm, you're situation is quite complicated. I think the best thing to do in this situation is to back home"

"But they would kill me. I would be spanked, given no food and I wouldn't have any where to go. My auntie despises me and she could just deceive the whole village", Fan Huang replied back in confusion.

"Oh but i have a plan. If this plan is successful you will become strong and you won't have to worry about them anymore. Now quick get going. The faster you get there the faster you will become a cultivator."

Fan Huang proceeded down the mountain and by night time found himself thirsty and hungry.

The night time moon shone on Fan Huang's rough and dirty face as it cast a shadow down onto him.

"How do i even get home if i don't even have enough food?" Fan Huang had been walking for a while now and had not had enough food to get back home

"I,ll starve at this rate"

At this moment a wolf's cries could be heard in the distance. Fan Huang could feel his bones shaking as he heard the cry. When he was traveling towards the sect he was very careful the whole way through as to not die. There were multiple times he would've died on the way to the Fleeting Cloud sect. Sometimes he had to stay up a tree in the night to avoid getting eaten. Many creatures laid in wait here ready to eat him. Fan Huang had been lucky survive on his own.

"Tch, silver back wolves are a problem"

Yao Yang said in an annoyed voice.

"I'm gonna go climb up a tree for now and wait out the night and then try and find food in the morning" Fan Huang then found a tree and walked to it.

"No! We are not going to hide from such weak wolves. We are going to kill them for food"

Yao Yang suggested in confidence.

"How am I going to do that?"

"Let me posses your body so I can hunt these wolves."

Fan Huang was unsure of what Yao Yang said. When he was young he heard from his grandpa that demons would posses people's bodies. Fan Huang could tell that Yao Yang could've already possessed him from the start if he was strong enough. He knew from his grandpa that there were strong demons and weak ones. Fan Huang could deduce that this one was weak. If he was strong enough he might've been able to possess his body. Fan Huang could tell from the start that it was a demon. He only trusted the demon because it offered him the chance to become a cultivator. He would have to use his own common sense to make sure he was not tricked.

"I have no other choice right now. Most of the food in these forests are poisonous and these roads are quite long. I guess I'm gonna have to" Fan Huang knew he had no other choice but to let the spirit possess him to have it hunt the demons. A demon spirit had enough skill to kill a wolf and he didn't.

"You need to just will in your mind that you will let me possess your body. If you don't wish for me to possess your body anymore then will it in your mind. You don't have to worry, just will it in your mind and it will happen."

Fan Huang nodded his head and thought about the demon, the sect and all these things that have happen lately. The cultivator world was a bizarre place. Especially the immortal cave he found near his village. Shortly after doing as Yao Yang he could slowly feel his control of his body loosening, eventually he lost complete control.

"Phew, it feels nice to be back in a body again. Now, where's that damn wolf."

Fan Huang felt like he was ball being thrown in between children, no control over whats happening and his life could only be controlled by others. Fan Huang felt hopeless that he couldn't do it himself but knew that sometimes you would need help from others to achieve things. He could then see himself running in a direction towards the wolf's howls. He then eventually found himself in front of a wolf.

"Silver back wolves are always so cocky trying to claim territory. Time to put you in your place."

Fan Huang could see himself slowly approach the wolf. As ten name implied the wolf had silver fur on its back and dark yellow eyes. The Wolf growled as the upcoming challenge from him.

Before Fan Huang knew it the wolf pounced on him and was shocked at the wolf's speed. But all of a sudden he couldn't see the wolf.

"tsk tsk, what's teh point of having sharp teeth when you can't even use them. *sigh* what pity."

Yao Yang was playing with the wolf like child's play.

As Fan Huang turned around(Note: Fan Huang is being possessed by Yao Yang right now)

He could see the wolf staring at him viciously.

Yao Yang had actually dodged the wolf's attack like nothing! The wolf without hesitation then jumped once more unleashing a flurry of attacks upon Fan Huang. This was all useless since Yao Yang was in his body. He dodged all of the silver back wolf's attacks.

"Is that all you got? That can't even be called a warmup. Let me just finish you off now."

Then with a swift strike Fan Huag could feel himself the wolf and his hand grasp the wolf's throat. The wolf looked at Fan Huang in shock and acceptance. The wolf knew the strong preyed on the weak and had accepted it's death. Fan Huang could feel his grip tightening around the wolves neck and slowly but surely the wolf died.

"The silver back wolves are a very prideful species. They always stick in groups of 3 to 2 but never go solo. Something must have happened for this to happen. The silver back's only wish is to die in battle against a strong opponent. In one way i have granted the wolf it's wish. That must be why its face was so accepting"

Fan Huang was shocked to find that Yao Yang knew so much about the wolf species.

"Just who are you. Were you just a normal cultivator?" Fan Huang thought.

"Now let's set up camp" Yao Yang then set up a fire and cooked the food, after Fan Huang got his body back.

The fire stood out in the dim night of the forest. As the fire crackled Fan Huang bit a bit off of the meat of the wolf's body.

"What's it like to be a cultivator" Fan Huang posed this question to Yao Yang hoping for an answer but got no response at all.

This process repeated for the next 3 weeks. Fan Huang didn't jog and run like he did to the Fleeting Cloud sect. He appreciated the beauty of the forest as he was walking down the forest road.

Soon enough he saw his village in sight.
