Chapter 9 - Water Weaving Martial Arts School

"Why do we have to do this lame mission. *sigh*, i was just about to break through into mid level foundation establishment but then my master sent me on this mission with you two. It's not that i hate you guys but i have better things to do" A flying disciple of the Fleeting Cloud named Ren Yi sect ranted on about the sect as the other two listened in silence.

"This mission was personally assigned to us by the grand elder. It is an honor to go on such a mission." One of the two disciples with his hands behind his back as the sword carried him across the sky. This disciple's name was Fang Kang. The other disciple among them was a disciple with a noticeable scar across his face named Kong Yuhan.

These disciples were heading to towards Fan Huang's village to investigate what had happened. They had a report from a rogue cultivator and reported it to the Fleeting Cloud sect. The elders of the sect picked out 3 foundation establishment cultivators to investigate and they were now on their way.

All that could be seen was the endless forest and animals down below as they flew by like a star. Soon they caught sight of the village in question and all flew down and reached the entrance. Everything seemed normal in the village but the place was too quiet. Fan Kang enveloped the houses in his spiritual sense and couldn't detect anybody. A bead of sweat fell down his forehead and onto the ground. Kong Yuhan who was at the front of the group came to the center of the village and using telepathy signaled for them to come over. He had discovered something horrific. Laying in the center of the village was a pile of dead bodies. The group of bodies reeked of the smell of death.

Kong Yuhan was terrified at the sight and felt so bad for the dead people laying there lifeless.

The other two came over and looks of shock and dread could bee seen.

"Who could do such a thing. It seems that the report of that cultivator was correct, a demon has killed all of these people"

All three of them inspected the bodies and looks of horror and disgust was on their faces.

"These bodies are only one week old." Fang Kang probed and discussed to the other two. All three of their faces were serious and were worried.

"We need to report this right away to the elder. The ancient evil spirit has truly awakened."

Fang Kang nodded to the other two and they proceeded to bury the mummified bodies.

Back in Glory City Fan Huang was walking around the bustling Glory city.

"5 copper for this fancy jade piece!"

"Only a true warrior can hold this blade! If you can strike this wooden pillar without stopping you'll get 50 percent off!"

"But these wooden carvings for only 2 silver a piece"

The whole city was busy and many traders and businesses were about trading, buying and selling. "What are we going to do master? You told me that after performing the ritual we would have to hide for a while right? They wouldn't put so much effort into finding us just because i killed that whole village. They have better things to do with their time don't they?" , Fan Huang asked Yao Yang and wanted to know why he's doing these things.

"It's complicated. What is most important right now is raising your strength. The stronger you are the more free you are and the less you have to worry about. What we are looking for right now is a martial art academy to train at"

Yao Yang explained to Fan Huang.

"A martial arts academy? What am i gonna do there. Learn some fancy kicks and punches? I would rather learn immortal spells than mortal martial arts"

Fan Huang was annoyed but also puzzled at what his master was thinking.

"Knowing mortal martial arts i a good base and foundation for when you walk into the cultivation world and can be used as a cultivator. Do not underestimate mortal martial arts!" Yao Yang lectured Fan Huang. After the times it takes an incense to burn they saw in the distance a tall building made out of bamboo and wood with a sign in front on a gate.

It read "Wave Weaving Martial Dojo." The dojo stood out from the whole city as the dojo was very, very big. It was most likely the biggest piece of land in the city. At the front on a wooden post was a piece of parchment with writing written upon it. Fan Huang got closer and read the parchment.

"Our Wave Weaving martial arts is the essence of using the power of one strength against itself, we never stop fighting. We strike hard and have no mercy. We weave the ocean waves to our every command, we become as strong as the waves and our strikes will become unwavering. To be a Wave Weaving disciple is to learn the essence of becoming one with your opponent and predict every single movement to the slightest detail."

"Hmmm, this martial art creator of this art is quite arrogant!", Yao Yang spoke in a high tone and there was a hint of praise in it. Fan Huang didn't quite understand what it meant and read it a second time. Before he could reach halfway he was bugged by Yao Yang to walk in the dojo and put on a straight face as he walked in. The dojo's atmosphere completely changed once he entered and felt creeped out because he had not seen any one at the entrance of the academy. Behind Fan Huang a small group of people could be seen forming.

"Oh i guess there is another challenger of the Wave Weaving exam"

"Why is such a young boy walking in? Most people who enter at least in their mid 50's or in their 60's"

"He is quite arrogant to believe he could pass the exam at such a young age. I can smell of his mothers milk from here."

Little did Fan Huang know was that this dojo was not an ordinary dojo but in order to become a disciple of the Wave Weaving Martial Art's Dojo you have to be at least a grand master martial artist. This dojo was known for its extremely strong martial art and that only 4 people in the past have passed the entrance exam of the Wave Weaving exam successfully and become a disciple. Most people who passed were in their 50's and only one person under 30 had passed the exam. At the moment the dojo had no students. The last time there was a student here was 3 years ago, no one had passed since then. Even if you pass the exam there's point if you can pass the exam but not able to learn the martial art.

Most people who had successfully passed and became a student all only became novices of the art. The reason us because the art is so difficult to learn that you might as well be going at a snails pace when learning this technique. This is why people were baffled at what Fan Huang was doing. Any person who didn't live under a rock would know about this place.

Going back to Fan Huang as he walked to the entrance of the dojo he could see a shadow all of a sudden appear through the bamboo door. All of a sudden the door opened and an elderly man who was walking with one cane who looked to be on his death bed looked at Fan Huang. This man looked like he was about die at any moment. Fan Huang looked at the man and thought that the people at this dojo must be all weirdos. He knew that if he wrapped his hand around his arm and squeezed with the amount of strength to grip a tea pot his arm would break.

The old man was the same height of Fan Huang and his mustache nearly covered his lips and dark his cane had cracks in it and his head had multiple patches of random hair that made him look like a bumpkin.

"If you enter this Dojo then the exam will immediately start and if you fail you will be struck by me with this cane 100 times to teach you a lesson for being arrogant" The elderly man looked at Fan Huang with an arrogant tone as if he could kill him with one look. Fan Huang knew this man wasn't weak if he was in a dojo.

"What is seniors name? Also, why does your school have an exam. Don't martial art schools just accept people " Fan Huang politely clasped his hands.

The elderly man raised one of his eyebrows and he looked at Fan Huang with a look of concern.

"If you don't even know my name then get out of here. It seems like you came here because you expect to be granted knowledge of the Wave Weaving art just like that! You have to earn the right to learn this art. Most schools let anyone in as long as they bring results and are able to learn the martial art. However my school only allows people who truly learn my martial art. You have to learn the meaning and true essence of this art.

The elder's voice was one of anger and annoyance as Fan Huang answered this question.

"Senior, I am very sorry to anger and cause you displeasure but i thought this martial art school was open as long as i am willing to learn but I have no eyes and walked in without knowing that this school is different from others. Please let me take the exam to your martial art school"

The elder looked at Fan Huang with a face of interest as his originally angry face changed.

"Well then. Since you are so good at flattering, i will let you take the test. I shall make the first test one that measures your dedication!" The elder spoke.

"Sit in front of this door for one whole month without moving and I will allow you to take the next test if you can do that"

"What?" Fan Huang was baffled at what the elderly man said.
