Chapter 6 - Will She Go?

There's a condition? Avery became cautious of the lawyer. Her lips thinned.

"And what condition is that?" she said tersely.

The lawyer looked her in the eye as if weighing if she would agree.

"You have to stay in the villa for 6 months. After that, you're free."

"What?!!! You do know that I'm a busy woman Atty. Cheng. I have so many developments right now that I can't just leave hanging."

The lawyer sighed. " I expected that you will say such young Miss. Although this property might be nothing to you, it meant the world to your grandmother. Even in her few moments of lucidity, it is the only thing that she kept on repeating to me."

Avery went silent. Yes, it is indeed a heavy thing on the conscience. She needs to ponder on this though as a lot of things will be affected if she stays off base for the next six months.

" I will think about it." She said coldly.

" I hope you think deeply about this Ms. Liang. Afterall, your grandmother really wished you'd agree to this. Here is my card. You can call me once you've made up your mind. Good day!" with that, Jason Cheng left.

"Hmmmm...this is a little troublesome. But, I really like that piece of property." Avery mused. " Better call Dad."

Avery dialed her father's number and was answered after a few rings.

" Hello Sunshine! Dad is so happy that you called." Mr. Liang enthused. After all, their only daughter calls him once in a blue moon.

" Dad, remember Grandma Lily? The one who owns a villa in City H? I got a visit from her lawyer who informed me that she passed away and that she left her villa to me."

" Oh, yes of course. Aunt Lily was very kind to us and used to always request that you visit her. We moved to the States that time though so you only met her twice."

" She stipulated in her will that I will only inherit the villa if I stay there for 6 months. Any idea why?"

Her father was silent for a moment before he replied " I'm not sure Sunshine. She always had a soft spot for you. She's an eccentric relative who don't interact with others but with you, I can see the fondness. This is a bit of a stretch since our businesses are here in the metro.

" Yeah, I know. I like the property though. It has a lot of potential for business development."

" You're already thinking of returns again. So, will you go?" her father asked seriously.
