"Have we lost them yet!?" A man asked
Catching his breath, the person beside him replied, "I-I think so..."
Clutching a bullet hole on his shoulder, the man dropped to the ground, "Leader!"
The person before immediately ripped off a part of his shirt and tried to prevent the man's bloodloss, "Hang on, I can see an exit from here!"
Not wasting any more time, he carried the fallen man sitting under the tree and began walking, he too isn't unscathed, with a fractured arm and a bullet lodged in his leg.
"W-what... is that....?"
After being assigned to a rescue mission, not only did they fail badly, they even lost a dozen of their comrades while heading towards the base their higher-ups thought to be where the bandits kept the hostages.
Zachary and Grant, two C rank soldiers that were forced to join a team filled with B ranks and save hostages which coincidentally has the daughter of their higher up.
Grant looked at the giant beast behind Zach's back, his eyes filled with horror and confusion, "Zach! Run!"
Just as he expected, the giant beast ran towards their direction, but what caught him off guard is the beast's agility, the beast arrived in front of them in the blink of an eye as if it has always been there.
A gush of wind crashed their faces, the mountain that was so loud before became quiet, all they could hear is the beast's breathing and their heartbeats getting faster by the second.
The beast was ready to pounce on them before the voice of a young man filled the quiet mountain, "Aurora."
The six-foot tall beast glared at them as if saying, 'I'm gonna feast on you once I get back.', and then the beast walked towards the man's direction, swaying its butt.
*Thud*
Zach dropped on the floor bringing Grant with him, his face says it all, "What... the fuck was that...?" looking behind him, he saw Grant also bewildered at what just happened.
The same thing before happened, a gush of air landed on their faces as they saw a young man instantly came in front of them in the blink of an eye, the two almost shrieked in fear, "What do you guys want?" Apollo asked, his voice filled with an eerie coldness that could make anyone shudder.
Grant being the senior, took a deep breath and began explaining it to Apollo.
"Oh, that's weird. I thought the military has ranks in the lines of Private something something."
Knowing that the young man before them would ask this, Grant continued, "No, we're just a subsidiary to the military. You may think I'm crazy, but..."
"But?"
Zach looked at Grant, pressuring him to just tell the man already so that this would be over. Grant sighed, "We're people with special abilities."
Grant already prepared mentally, he thinks that the other party would laugh at him being delusional and believing in superpowers. Contrary to his expectations, Apollo just stared at them as if it's normal.
Apollo already knew of their superpowers, it isn't really that difficult for him to find it out, with just a thought, he could see their entire life history in his brain. The reason he asked is to make sure that the other party isn't lying, "I believe you, come inside."
The two nodded. Walking together with Apollo, the dense trees that covered their vision slowly became like a place that only people could dream of. The green grass, the flowers blooming in the edges, the farm not far from them, and the lonely shack sitting tight in the distance.
Zach and Grant's wounds healed visible to the naked eye. Looking at Apollo's back, their emotions became jumbled. Fear, Admiration, Respect all jumbled up into a single emotion.
Their organization also has healers in them, but they couldn't heal this fast, maybe a few S ranks could be on par with this.
Their organization is basically an organization that consists of people with superpowers and is funded by the government to do missions that normal soldiers couldn't do.
The reason their mission didn't go as successful as they hope is the most bizarre part. The information sent to them not only has false ones, but it isn't even complete!
It isn't their higher up's fault though, they just didn't scout the area properly, hence failing the mission. Even though they have powers, that doesn't mean their enemy doesn't.
All they knew about the mission is that the enemy base has C ranks scattered all over the base and that the mastermind is a B rank assassin. Their team leader scoffed it off and thought it would be an easy job, but, they got killed before they even knew it.
Over twenty-four C rank assassins were scattered all over the cave, it wasn't really a hard job for them to take care of it, but then came their boss.
An A rank assassin! Zach and Grant almost went out unscathed because all they had to do was guard the entrance, but when they felt that something wasn't right they entered the cave.
Bodies of their teammates laid on the ground, without hesitating they ran, but the mastermind already called up his subordinates and they got cornered. The only reason they got to Apollo's mountain is that it's near, and the reason they escaped from those bandits is because of the mountain's unique geography.
'I wonder what Levi and Ashton's rank is...'
