All around them was pitch black. The wind was howling hard as the rain lashed down onto the car.
"Are you sure it's here Estron?" Wraith questioned.
"This is the spot I came to when I come to planet." Estron replied.
"There." Lomax shouted and pointed out of her window. In the far distance there was a white light slowly coming towards them.
Lomax then looked at Wraith. They both felt the same thing. It was one thing meeting a small cute little alien. It was another thing when the mother ship turned up.
"It will be ok." Wraith said to her.
"No, no." Estron squealed shaking his head.
"What do you mean?" Lomax said the light was getting larger now.
The light landed close to the ground. Then figures one by one began to appear in front of the light. Estron hid under the blanket.
Wraith got out of the car. He sensed something wasn't quite right. He had learnt a long time ago to follow that feeling whenever it came.
He walked towards the light. He could see as he got closer it was a military helicopter.
"Take your gun out slowly and put it on the ground." a human voice called from behind the light.
"No." He shouted back. He then saw seven soldiers with automatic weapons step forward. Their red laser light danced across his chest. Behind them he could see a woman. She raised her hand and shouted. "Do you and your police officer friend want to die in this field tonight Wraith?"
Wraith looked back at his car. Lomax and Hex looked terrified; they each had a red dot on their faces.
He took his gun out slowly and put it on the ground.
The woman stepped forward; it was Ash. "The Duke said you were pig-headed. Now I like my property back please."
Wraith looked back at the car then back to Ash.
She began to laugh. "You don't know what I'm talking about. The Duke never told you, did he?"
Three of the soldiers began walking towards Wraith's car. Four red dots still lingered on Wraith's chest.
Ash laughed again. "What did you think? You'd rescue it before the bad guys showed up an' off it would go back home."
She stepped closer to him. On queue the wind and rain eased off. "There is no happy ending here. It is our property. Slavery isn't just a history thing it's a day to day business thing." She gave a wink. "We give them plenty of humans."
Wraith felt sick to his stomach to be near such evil. MI13 was a lie to its core. It was actively involved in Extraterrestrials. It was all a front and the Duke was up to his neck in it.
A soldier came walking back with Estron. The other two still pointed their guns at Lomax and Hex who were frozen with fear inside the car.
As they passed each other Estron said to Wraith. "I want to believe."
Wraith wanted to save him, every part of him was screaming to do so, but Ash was right, there was no happy ending to this. He had to think of Lomax and Hex. One false move and they could all be dead in a blink of an eye.
He watched as they put him into the helicopter.
Ash gave a snigger. "You're a big softy aren't you Wraith? It's a shame, I kind of like you but I'm afraid you and your friends do have to die in this field tonight."
With that, all the soldiers took careful aim.
Wraith closed his eyes and thought of his mother. His eyes suddenly lit up light blue. He opened them quickly to see the entire field was bathed in it. He looked up and saw that the sky was filled with an UFO.
It had been there all along.
Ash looked up. "Seems you have new friends in high places Wraith." She said and walked back to the helicopter, she motioned to the soldiers to follow her.
Wraith kept looking up. What deal had been struck, what was MI13 up to? How could these aliens be so willing to give up their own yet have a value on human lives? These were some of the things that ran through his mind.
The light then began to grow small. Till it was just a dot that blinked and was gone.
Agent Adams shivered as he sat on the opposite valley to where Wraith was. It had been harder than he thought to follow them. Everything in the countryside looked the same come the night time. He really was a city boy at heart.
His phone began to ring, he reached into his coat pocket, answered and said, "The neighbours didn't let her kill them. Everyone's going back to where they belong Sir."
The boss then did what he always did.
Estron soon found himself back in his cell. He was in a lot of trouble but he didn't care one bit.
He looked down to his hands and began rubbing his finger and thumb. He thought about Wraith, Lomax and Hex and how they had helped him. How they had come to the lip of death for him.
He began to say the magic words and hoped that one day there would be enough belief in him for something magical to happen.
