One of the men opened the sack and out tumbled a naked corpse. Then each man grabbed a hand or foot and began singing a weird chanting song over the corpse. From the corpse a thick yellow smoke began to rise.
Hex gave a cough. "Damn even from here I can smell hell boiling up like an old morgue fart."
Slowly wraith stood up and whispered:
"You really got to ask yourself why do they do it. Don't they know I'm the one who's been b***h slapping the devil back down for centuries?"
Wraith shook his head. "Don't they understand I love my mother with all my heart? There's nothing I won't do for her."
"So what's the plan boss?" Hex asked as he readied himself.
Wraith raised an eyebrow. "If these clowns are so interested in raising hell. Then let's give them some." With that he ran forward with his gun levelled and screamed:
"Banzi!"
The corpse instantly sprang up as it heard Wraith yell.
One of the men who held the corpse's feet shouted. "You're not ready my lord, hold still, the spell is not fully casted." Then like a firework the man's head exploded as one of Wraith's bullets hit him.
The corpse broke free of the other men's grip and jumped on top of a nearby gravestone. Black drool fell from its lips as it spoke:
"Youu'rre aa daammn ffool yyoou baasstard childd of tthe bogg w***e."
Hex leaped and ripped the throat out of one of the men. Another screamed and tried to make a break for it, but Wraith put a bullet in the back of his head before he could even take a step.
The last man stood frozen with fear. "Don't kill me! Please! I beg you!" The corpse gave a roar like a dragon and plunged his hand into the man's chest and tore out his still beating heart and screamed. "Coward!!" Then fell to his knees. Sweat was pouring off him. His skin was turning a darkly yellow. He slowly raised his head to see Wraith looking down at him with his gun fixed straight between his eyes.
The corpse's face began to twist and shiver till finally the face of the devil appeared. It looked cruel and cunning like a politician before it leered a sinister smile at Wraith. "Go on kill me." It Mocked.
Hex shouted to Wraith. "Kill him!"
Wraith pressed the nozzle of his gun to the devils brow and said: "The problem with you is you only think on a biblical level."
The devil said nothing.
"You see you're nailed to this dimension." The devils face began to quiver with rage. Wraith pressed the nozzle of his gun harder into the devil's brow "Something new is happening here. Don't you realise this planet has never been so connected like this before? You're a relic from a bygone age. No one is scared of you anymore."
The devil's face was now shivering badly the corpse was giving out. The devil whispered. "You don't know half of what goes on in the darkness below." And with that the corpse fell to the floor and burst into flames.
Wraith stared at the flames wishing he had a least put a bullet into his face.
Hex came up to him and queried. "What did he mean when he said you don't know half of what goes on..."
"It's just the nature of his game Hex." In the distant police sirens could be heard. "Come let's go before the thin blue line gets here. I'm in enough trouble with them as it is."
Neither one of them noticed as they left a single black snowflake gently drop from the corpse and into the soil, it then fell passed mile high flames and deafening screams, until it reached the spot from once it rose.
The devil in his damnable glory blinked and rubbed his bottomless eyes raw. A demon stepped forward shivering. "My prince you return so soon."
For the longest of moments the devil said nothing before whispering. "Rome wasn't built in a day." Then he crushed the demon into red pulp.
