Chapter 12 - Elias Essel the Wizard

Elias walked to his father's workshop and made sure he was alone. Elias had noticed changes ever since the battle with the Beastmen. He began to see more and more. At first, it was flashing like when Elias saw on Ester's form glowing. But then they began to become constant he could see auras, but none of them he had seen could compare to Ester so far.

Recently he had seen his mother's and Klauses aura, which seemed strange at first, but eventually, he managed to act normally when seeing them. Klaus had an evergreen aura about him with dark spots, and his mother had a completely pure white aura. Elias's mother's aura strangely was almost as bright as Esther, but Klaus's was dim and barely visible.

Elias walked to the center of the workshop, away from the walls and his father's valuable tools. The first spell Elias decided to learn was fire. Elias held out his hand and spoke the incantation, "Incendia."

Nothing happened, so Elias looked at the spell in his head again and realized the magic needed a source.

Elias saw that there were three primary sources used for magic. Witches and warlocks could only use the help of the ancestors, use astrological events, or rely on their inherent magic, which, according to the imprint, was the weakest. Elias looked at the imprints words and scoffed. Asking help from some mysterious ancestors to complete spells seemed foolhardy and unreliable, but it seemed like it was his best bet. Just as he was about to contact the ancestors, his ring began to glow. A familar voice rang in his head, "what are you doing, you fool." Elias was taken aback when did this soothing voice become so shrill.

Elias, still confused, asked it what it meant. "Don't you understand the Ancestors are still unaware of your existence, but if you use ancestral magic, they will try to restrict you because you disrupt the balance of power. Elias, still confused, asked, "Why don't you try to restrict me, aren't you one of the ancestors."

The voice was silent for a bit before speaking, "The Ancestors and I aren't exactly on speaking terms. Don't worry, that only benefits you."

Elias, slightly distrustful of this strange voice, decided to put away his concerns for the moment.

"So why do I disrupt the balance? I am weaker than even the weakest Beastman."

The voice response scared Elias, "They will kill you for your potential because they are short-sighted fools that still try to manipulate the world even after their death."

The voice didn't answer any more questions after that but left after giving Elias one piece of advice, "you should only use your internal reserves and astrological events until you are certain that no creature in this world can pose a threat to you. Ancestral magic is powerful and has its uses to you, but don't use it if you want to keep your life. By the way, you are a wizard, not a warlock when you use only internal power."

As the voice left, he realized that he probably should avoid using ancestral magic.

Elias was left with two options he could either wait for an astrological event or check to see his reserves. Elias was looking at the method for internal magic implanted in his mind, along with the four spells.

Elias took a deep breath, searched for his aura. Elias managed to see a Platinum aura and followed it to his center. Elias looked at his center. When he looked, he saw that it was sharp and piercing. Elias tried to pull the aura from his center but felt pain. The pain was similar to thousands of pinpricks stabbing his arm from the inside. Elias realized the magic in his core was to chaotic use in its state and so decided to calm it. Elias sat cross-legged, trying to calm himself when he felt green energy enter him.

Elias feeling that this energy was beneficial for his core collected the energy in his core. The energy filled the core and caused it to become a smooth ball. Elias realized it was time to try again and remembered the incantation for fire. This time pulling on his core Calvis said, "Incendia," and instantly, a ball of fire hovered an inch over his hand. What took Elias by surprise was that the flame was the same platinum color as his hair. Elias hesitantly touched the fire with his other hand, but it felt cool to his touch. Elias walked over to his father's Material stall and grabbed a few ingots of inferior iron.

Elias manipulated the first to touch the iron, and instantly it began to melt. Elias used his bare fingers without thinking and moved the melted metal and began to form a very shoddy dagger. Elias planned to use this dagger to test out his enchanting power next but decided to let his dagger cool.

Elias inspected his hands, but they weren't burned and were still cool to the touch. Elias seeing this realized his flames couldn't hurt him. Elias sat down and waited for the dagger to cool.

Elias was surprised by two things. First, the information he was told was that internal energy was supposed to be weak and exhaustion, no matter how small the spell usually followed along with a bloody nose. Elias didn't feel tired. He felt as if his power had grown, but Elias decided to ignore this for now. Second, from what Elias knew of Incendia, it was supposed to create a regular flame, so why the hell was his platinum.

Elias walked out of Erik's workshop and saw the same green energy that helped him from before surrounding the trees. Elias realized that he had absorbed natural energy and filled that information away for later.
