Chapter 8 - Doubts

Back at the Easton estate, matilda was rubbing Alannas back as she cried for the 20th time.

" I told you not to get involved with my brother. hes always been a heartless bastard"

matilda reminded her helplessly.

She and Alanna had been friends for quite a long time. for years she watched as Alanna followed her brother around starry eyed and niave. but Matilda knew. she knew that her brother loved salem and would never look Alannas way.

Matilda tried to persuade her when alannas father gave her the chance to annul the arranged marriage but of course Alanna didn't listen.

in the end Alanna only gained a loveless marriage and Andrew's hatred.

Salem had always been a sensitive girl, so it was obvious she would leave once Andrew married but Matilda still couldn't help but hate her a little. she was aware of the circumstances. yet her life, her brothers life, and Alannas would have been better if salem had never been saved by him.

Especially since Salem's return.

Andrew had been finally letting down his guard around Alanna but now it was up higher than ever!

it was all Salem's fault! getting more angry with each passing minute matilda slammed her purse to the floor as she took out her phone. tapping her foot she waited for andrew to answer her call. 5 rings later he finally did.

His voice was hoarse as he croaked " hello?"

assuming he was hungover matilda didn't hold back " where the fuck have you been? I know you're stuck following salem like a pathetic stalker but you do have a wife and she needs you here!"

Hearing his sisters harsh words andrew clenched his fist and tried not to yell. his head was throbbing and he was sick from sleeping on Salem's doorsteps. " I'm in St. James hospital thanks for asking by the way. bring me a change of clothes and tell alanna to get over herself!"

without waiting for a reply andrew hung up and laid back in bed. he had hoped if Salem heard he was sick she would come to visit out of guilt or at least call. she hadn't showed up yet but he was sure she would.

salem had always been too kind for her own good.

he even went through the trouble of telling his secretary to spread the news of his hospital stay. just thinking about salem in his arms again made him so happy that he knew all this effort was worth it.
