Chapter 14 - unwilling

Beginning to calm down, salem buried her feelings becoming expressionless. Andrew knew this was something she only did when she was too furious to act rationally.

He really messed up big this time.

when Andrew got the messages from his secretary shortly after announcing his plan to divorce Alanna he realized he shouldn't have been so hasty.

of course she would blame salem. honestly he felt a little stuck between them.

Not because he loved Alanna but rather he felt she had been a good wife despite his unattentive attitude towards her. Andrew had wanted to give alanna a respectable amount of time until he married salem as a sign of appreciation yet she threw that out the window when she practically proclaimed salem to be a prostitute.

now what was he to do? not only that but now salem seemed completely fed up with him.

He was not wrong in thinking this way.

Lost in recalling the memories of her childhood salem felt like she was back in time as a memory flashed in her mind. reeking of alcohol her stepfather packed her beaten mothers bags only pausing to glare disdainfully at the crumpled woman in the corner. on the floor beside her squeezing her broken arm salem wanted to kill this man or at least run away to get help but she was too weak to move. all salem could do was grit her teeth and imagine a day when this would just be a bad dream from the distant past.

Andrew's flushed face and the drunken one of her stepfather seemed to be the same. disgusted by this revelation, salem finally spat out "pathetic. all men are just pathetic. I hate you so much I could die."

he had promised her a life of happiness but this is how it ended up instead. deep down salem knew she was being difficult, Andrew had always been patient with her and showed her love like no other but so what!? she just wanted someone to see her above all else for just once!

Salem wanted to be his # 1! she believed andrew was like that long ago but he still chose his familys company and money over her.

with more years of watching the other sex, she learned over time what men wanted. it wasnt a person who had their own thoughts, desires and dreams what most men wanted was lovely dolls that bent to their will and unconditionally loved them. her teacher, exes, and male companions taught her this through the years and salem had long ago accepted this reality.

feeling the mood plummet andrew was getting angrier by the second. not with salem but himself. he didnt need to look up to see the resentment in her emerald eyes and his heart ached with the knowledge that it was his fault.

salem didn't say a word after her small outburst even when he pulled her out of the apartment and down the stairs. she didnt even bother to ask where they were going either.

what was the point?

she was sure freya would find her once it was realized she was missing. if not her teacher definitely would, when he came to pick her up next week. imagining tobias searching for her like a mad dog calmed her down a bit as well as amused her.

Despite his age of 47, he was a ruggedly good looking man who stayed in peak condition by dancing. most said he had a haunting beauty and a way of dancing that was a required taste. salem felt this to be true. his aura and scarred face was animalistic like a lone wolf ready to shred any enemies before him. Andrew was in for a very tough time soon...
