That night the city was alive, brightly lit, and thriving outside Salem's cheap apartment. she had forgotten how loud it used to be now accustomed to the quiet countryside of Austria but she wasnt perturbed by it all.
Instead it comforted her. she would easily be able to get help if andrew came here to hurt her. since she first met him Salem knew what a possessive person he was. that was why she chose to leave him quietly in the night 5 years ago.
He was never the type of person to let go regardless of his toys value. simply because the toy was his and no one should touch his things.
No doubt his poor wife had to deal with it also despite being unloved by him. salem could vividly remember the glares she received by him when jealous over little things she never imagined could set a person off. Salem had always had a shy personality but once she gets to know or like someone, she can be silly and shamelessly talk an ear off. Micheal and Freya were the people who she got carried away with the most when it came to jokes or behavior. In high school it was always one of the 2 with her when she got into some shenanigans.
Andrew despised Michael but tolerated Freya though he once got angry because salem took her as a date to a dinner party once.
Now that she didn't have to deal with oppressive love, she felt free almost forgetting all about it. Yet in an instant she was thrown back in those memories from a single call from him that lasted less than 6 seconds.
his effect on her was always extreme.
anxiety poured over her like cold water making her jump when her broom leaning against the wall fell to the floor. sighing heavily she locked her door. Her mother always told her as a little girl, a fallen broom was a sign of a visitor coming. tonight she felt that it was a rather ominous one.
only 30 minutes after she locked the door, salem was falling asleep when 3 loud knocks on her front door resounded throughout her safe haven.
