Chapter 45 - Another Journey?

"We've done all that we can for now." Iskandor said. The base is as completed as could be with the knowledge and resources available. "We really should add a bar or something for a finishing touch though..."

"We can do that later." Lar replies, sunbathing now that the work is done.

"We would need a bartender and stock unless we take care of that ourselves." Hikari brought up.

"Fair enough, I kind of want to meet up with Ollis again, I've had a growing suspicion since that dream vision I had and would like to follow the hunch." Iskandor says, "We can get proper food and drink in the capital as he mentioned something about a quest he basically stole and needs to turn it in somehow." Iskandor explains briefly.

"We have been very productive lately, however should we all go? It would be easier if we could teleport or something as we've overworked ourselves a bit and need to relax." Hikari brought up.

"Fair enough, though we could get a cart once we get back to Rosemary village and after some bartering pick up some goods before we leave." Iskandor thought aloud.

"Fenrir should probably stay here with Shiro for now, just incase they... Well you know." Serena added.

"I guess I'll need a volunteer to go, but first we should relax. I need it more than I'm aware, I've gotten like this before and have gotten better at noticing, although not good enough..." Explained Iskandor before hopping into the hotsprings.

"Have you read the entirety of the books left to you?" Ariel asks.

"At least once, but I haven't processed all of the information despite it being up here." Iskandor replies, pointing to his head. "Just because it's in here unfortunately doesn't necessarily mean I comprehend what I've read. However after I read something once I'll never need to reread it, even if to improve my understanding of it." Iskandor explains.

"Go to Section 5: Pacts, Spell 6: Soul Bond." Aerial says. "Specifically the second variation of the spell/ritual."

Iskandor mentally flips to the page and reads through it. "A soul bond is a curious thing. Depending on the method of casting and the caster's intent the spell can have different effects. This variation is meant to form a bond with a beast for it to become a soul beast. A soul beast can be absorbed into one's soul and called at any time, as proof of this a tattoo like marking will appear on the caster's body to show the bond." Shiro's ears perked up as Iskandor read the passage but stayed silent. "Interesting, I guess Fenrir, Shiro and/or Rocky could do so if they would like to." Iskandor said. At this point Rocky have been at the Plateau for a couple days.

"I'll run it past Fenrir later, speaking of I should check up on his progress." Shiro said, and with that she was off in a flash.

"A wise consideration. We could be with you at any moment and it wouldn't necessarily restrict our freedom either." Rocky said in his monotone voice.

"What really catches my eye is the first variant of the spell, to summarize it acts in a similar way to the empathy link but has longer range, can't easily be broken, work between planes in some cases, but it's more of a ritual and relatively difficult to perform." Iskandor mentioned.

"Many of the spells in that book are like that, and that's just the book focusing on theory!" Aerial replied.

"I'll need to go through the book again to analyze the spells in greater deatail." Iskandor says. With this Iskandor relaxes his mind and body to start analyzing the entirety of the book with great efficiency.

Within Iskandor's mindscape the book appears and flips it's pages slowly.

'The Magic Within, Section 1: History, Section 2: Magic Theory, Section 3: Magic beasts, Section 4: Summoning, Section 5: Pacts, Section 6: Elements...' Iskandor goes through the entirety of the book, reading every spell, ritual and incantation. Picking apart the magic theory to a level greater than the author of the book. This book gave Iskandor many clues to how and why magic works and even a couple that may lead back to the author.

"It seems my observations of magic, although not incorrect were far from complete. I also see that the author of this book may not have had the full picture either." Iskandor explained. "Serena, would you care to join me on this trip to the capital?"

"I don't see why not. I'll go pack my things." Serena replied.

"I'll try to make this quick, but I can't make any promises." Iskandor said before heading off to pack supplies.
