"Be back in a couple days, if you guys need something to work on while I'm gone I've got a list of materials I'd like to gather for some experimentation and equipment manufacturing." Iskandor says, passing a list to Hikari.
"Alright, I'm sure we can get some of this done, but while your out buy some seeds so we can grow some food and a keg or two of some Sake and/or Mead." Hikari responds, knowing well that he didn't expect much of the list to be completed.
"Alright, we're off." Iskandor said, leaving the plateau and heading back towards Rosemary as there's a path from there to the capital, and if they're lucky can hop on a carriage some of the way.
The journey back to Rosemary was uneventful and took less time as the route is now better known. Entering the border of the village Iskandor and Serena take in a breath of fresh air and briefly reminisce on the memories spent here.
"Alright, I'll head to our houses and pack up whatever is important or of value; if that's fine with you that is." Iskandor says.
"Go ahead, we might as well sell the houses too as we won't have need of them anymore." Serena replies.
Once the idle chatter concluded and all was packed the houses were sold for a total of 2 gold, 48 silver and 12 copper. 'Either the houses are quite cheap or the value of what I made for the Savant's was much higher than expected, perhaps I should look into the financial logistics of this world...' Iskandor thinks so himself.
"So, we have a bunch of coin, a job to gaurd a carriage from here to the capital and some stuff that was hidden in your house that you hadn't known about." Serena sums up.
"Yup, I have a sneaking suspicion on a few things but I will have to look into this more before I make a conclusion." Iskandor says, knowing well that if he were to share his hypothesis and it be false, disappointment would be expected, especially from Lar.
"So what did you find specifically?" Serena asks while heading towards their first stop, the carriage they are to gaurd.
"So, I already had "The Magic Within" and "Armipotence and Bloodlust", but I also found "Myths of Terra", "Abuse of Magic", "An Artisan's Guide to any Craft", "Humanoid and Monster Biology", "Monster Encyclopedia", "Inferno", "Purgatorio", "Paridiso", and "From Year 0 Onward", all by the same author. The last book seems to be a self updating history book... Not quite sure how that works though... I also found a few schematics for weapons and armor, most incomplete but all have much promise. The last thing I found is a puzzle box." Iskandor lists out.
"Wow, this guy was a writer..." Serena exclaims in awe. "Talent in magic, combat and writing... I wonder who this person is!"
'If my hypothesis is right things will be all the more shocking...' Iskandor thinks. "Anyway, did you catch when the carriage would leave?"
"In a half hour, we should probably head to the meeting point now." Serena says.
With this the two of them head to the southern entrance to the village and see a small caravan awaiting them.
"I was told it was a single carriage..." Serena mutters.
"One carriage or five, it doesn't really matter as long as we get there." Iskandor replies.
"You guys the extra gaurds?" A tall, lanky blonde human with an elf like aura approached.
"Yeah, we were told it was just one carriage but a caravan can't be that much harder right?" Serena asks.
"You'd be suprised. The name's Mike, my twin back there is Ike." Mike introduced, "Ike and I are both good with a bow and twin daggers, you?"
"I'm very adaptable, I currently prefer my sword and hand crossbow but am confident in most weapons given enough time." Iskandor says.
"I use these hook swords as they provide many options to gain the element of suprise, I have yet to find a ranged option that suits me however." Serena says.
"If we have a fith gaurd perhaps each one of us sits atop their respective carriage so that we have the visibility from hight and multiple eyes with different perspectives on the field." Iskandor suggests.
"We actually do." Mike said, "He's a spearman called Audit Knoe."
"We have three people with range, so they should probably be on carriages 1, 3 and 5." Iskandor suggested.
"We were actually hoping to be able to do that." Mike replied.
"Alright, we're ready when you are." Iskandor responds.
With that Mike and Ike headed to the first and last carriages, Audit Knoe went to the second and Serena went to the fourth while Iskandor went to the third. Once everyone was in place the caravan made a crawl towards the capital.
