Two years later...
The two figures, student and teacher stood outside the house they had both lived in together for about three years. They had both grown to know each other in personality and history, however they both still kept secrets from each other, lest their relationship crumble and never be repaired. They were both prepared to leave and go on a journey until a year before Luka's coming of age ceremony at the age of eighteen. Kane had prepared the travel plan, the money, and the weapons they would both be using, real and fake.
They would be visiting the major regions in the middle continent, not only to tour but also to get in touch with their magic and affinity with the elements.
They were both about to leave until they heard a crash that sounded like it came from outside the forest they were in. Kane told Luka to hide in the house and to not come outside until he said so. Luka complied and ran inside. Kane faced in the direction of the noise and drew his sword, and waited.
It wasn't long until he saw her. A monster. It was one he had heard rumors of as well. She was a dragon with scales and red hair, with white skin in between her scales. She also wore a set of armor that covered her torso, and extended to protect her dignity, with a cape flowing behind it, and a headpiece that protected her forehead. Not only that, but she carried a massive two handed broadsword. There was only one monster this could be, Granberia, the swords-woman of fire, one of the four heavenly knights.
However, just as he had seen her, she had also seen him. She grinned, and increased her pace, until she stood a few feet in front of him.
"So, your this 'Undeatable opponent', I've heard so much about?" She looked him up and down, judging his threat level. Seeming satisfied she looked back at his face with a battle hungry smirk. "I have come to challenge you!" She yells, drawing her sword and getting into a stance.
I oblige and say nothing to her, knowing it would only fuel her lust for battle. I get into my stance and prepare to defend her first attack.
I don't have to wait long, she comes at me almost immediately and uses an overhead slash, attempting to cut me in two. I sidestep and slash at her unarmored knees, hoping to do some damage and disable her, even though they were covered in scales. She steps back, however, and swings her sword diagonally from the ground towards me. I try to block using my knowledge of earth magic to steady myself. I still feel my arms go numb when she hit me though.
"You're quite impressive if you can block one of my strikes, warrior!" She yells, already swinging her sword at me once again. I knew that blocking her strikes was possible now, at least.
'However, I don't want her to overpower me and force me to an disadvantageous position.' He thought.
That's when he thought of it, 'If I can't block her blows, then I should redirect them!'
So he tried, and it worked. He used his sword to redirect her sword into hitting the ground and then swung upwards, managing to land a strike across her chest piece and making a scratch on it. After seeing that, he knew he could defeat her, if he took time.
However, she had different ideas. She jumped back and used one of her techniques, which set her sword in fire and she rapidly swings her sword, trying to make me get some injuries. I do get some injuries, but only minor ones since I blocked the strikes that would've dealt major blows.
"You're even more skilled than I thought!" She yells, stopping her sword swings for a minute. "However, that won't stop me from defeating you!"
She rushes toward me again, and I knew it was time to get truly serious if I wanted to win.
'Elemental enhancement!' I decided I would take this as a life and death battle, and used my strengthening magic techniques, which enhance my overall combat ability. He could now see Granberia much easier and didn't have to rely on instinct for much of her strikes anymore, not only that, but he could now reliably block and predict her attacks. And finally, he could now do some real damage to her armor and scales.
Granberia noticed his enhanced state and decided to take it up a notch as well. She set her sword aflame and used her Serene mind state as well, a state he was close to achieving, but hadn't yet. She was able to block most of his strikes, but she was still taking more injuries than he was.
She jumped back and yelled at him, "Enough! Let's settle this with a single attack!"
He silently obliged her request and used his finishing move he made, using wind he increased his speed and cutting edge, using earth he increased his durability to shrug off her blow, water to predict and keep calm, and finally fire to increase his strength and willpower in case he takes damage.
'Element execution!'
'Death sword chaos star!'
The both of their attacks connected, and they both waited with controlled breaths. However, they both took damage. Kane was burned in many places and had lacerations all over his body, especially his arms and chest and was on one knee barely conscious. Granberia was laying on the ground bleeding into a pool of blood, surprised she lost barely, but so badly. She managed to get up and seal the worst of her wounds and started to talk with him.
"You are probably the most skilled warrior I have ever seen. I hope to see you grow stronger and to one day defeat you and take you as my one and only". She stated, teleporting away.
Kane coughed, spitting out blood, "She really got me good, however I wasn't able to interrogate her and get some answers. I'll have to demand some answers next time, and get even stronger as well."
Luka ran up to him and helped him up. "Luka, I thought I told you to wait in the house!" He yelled at him, coughing even more blood after.
"I'm sorry sir, but I heard the explosion and came to make sure you were okay. And it's a good thing I did, you're close to bleeding out! You need medical care right away!" He yelled back, picking up Kane and starting to bring him back to the house.
