Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Obsession

The month after that, he tried everything he could to get rid of the fox. From leaving it outside to burning it slightly. He shivered, the look the fox gave him when he tried that was absolutely murderous. He stopped after that and tried to get along with the fox and apologized to her. It seemed to lighten the atmosphere in the house a bit but not by much.

However that is when he found a book in the basket one night after the fox went back to sleep. He thought it strange but knew that it was the fox's book since he didn't put it there. He decided that it was for the best if he looked inside.

He wished he never looked inside.

The book was a diary. However what was inside is what disturbed him and sent his instincts into overdrive. It showed the gradual decline of a person from sane to absolutely obsessed. Worse, the person they were obsessed with was none other than his mentor! He knew immediately that he was lucky that the fox hadn't gotten rid of him in her quest for love. Even more that she hadn't kidnapped Kane in the middle of the night.

*Whoosh!*

He immediately flattened his body against the floor after his instincts told him to. And it was a good thing too, for in the spot his heart would have been was a fluffy tail. And connected to that tail was the woman he had seen in his mentors bed about a month ago!

She looked furious. And she had murder in her eyes. He knew then and there: he fucked up.

"Now," she asked, "what do you think you were doing, little pest?"

He gulped and knew that the only way to get out of this with a chance of living, no matter how small it is, was to tell her the truth and everything he knew.

She perked up after he recounted his side of events. She seemed to calm down somewhat and no longer seemed as if she would brutalize him into paste. She warned him against telling his mentor about anything that had happened and if he did, she would make sure he suffered for eternity.

He agreed, no matter how much he wanted to tell his mentor anyway, since he instinctively knew this woman was at least as strong as Granberia.

And so the two went back to their beds, to not speak about this meeting again for a very long time...
