When it comes to fighters, to be honest there are only two important distinctions. Those that are dangerous, and those that aren't.
"Guagghhh!" The air exploded behind Varsas. Air and dirt was thrown wildly due to the force. Even rocks got caught in the way.
It was surprisingly not deadly.
What it was, was crippling.
It would not have blown a hole straight through the young body of Varsas. It would not have killed him.
It would instead have broken every bones in his body. It would have disable his spine. It may even beat the sense out of him. It would have made him a disabled.
Instead of trying to kill him, it is merciful in a way.
The blows come rapidly, none of it aiming to kill.
The reason the blows came was because the first blow was not enough.
There is a difference between the two figures, one of them is heavily armored while the other was in casual clothes in the safety of his home. Armor can usually turn the tide of a fight.. It is the differences between being able to do damage to your opponent to doing jack.
And the armor in this case was made with rune forging technology from the future. Exactly ten years in the future. It is a bit shoddy, due to presumably the maker not being used to the materials, but it is the kind of armor used at the end of the war, the latest technology.
More importantly, it is even cutting edge latest technology. Flexible Black Steel. As the name suggested, it was both flexible and tough like magic steel. Not quite as flexible as it could be, but it is the perfect compromise between bulky and light.
The reason to use Black Steel armor was obvious, it is the best kind of armor to get without delving into certain difficult to obtain artifact or hard-to-make material. It can be made by normal blacksmith from the future, it can be made by blacksmith now, even if it is going to be a bit time consuming.
The other reason is anonymity.
The other figure is armored completely from head to toe. It is hard to discern his identity. With this kind of armor that can be forged by a normal blacksmith instead of some noteworthy armor however, it is even harder to discern who exactly this is.
For a few seconds, a rag doll is a perfect way to describe a person named Varsas Gungnir.
"As expected, even as a teenager you were already a monster. But this should be enough."
He says, while madame Gungnir was knocked flying unconscious due to the explosion, the Gungnir family's yard is in ruin and the walls of the house have been destroyed, sending Madame Gungnir flying with them.
"He he..."
"You may not know me, but it is better for you not to. With this, our enmity finally ended. Stay as you are, a young master of a wealthy household instead of venturing out in the world ever again!"
The man's sword was not drawn. It's on his side from the start of the little "fight" that they have. Whether he decides the situation was unworthy is unknown. It's also a sword made with rune techniques from the future. No fancy materials, but ironically the rune formation on the side of the blade is the one Varsas Gungnir personally created in the future as the most efficient cost to effect enchantment, effective to use on the chaotic battlefield where one person need to replace an equipment quickly. It has problems with scaling up but it's damn well good enough for the time.
Suddenly, the sword was drawn.
It was for blocking the spearhead pointing at the jugular.
Rather than being something special like the Gungnir family heirloom, this was a practice spear. Today Varsas Gungnir picked a practice spear for practice.
The heirloom is a damn good spear, but as it is the heirloom, he can't exactly swing it one thousand times every day like it's replaceable. It's more fitted for certain night activities.
Because the two persons was standing next to each other, the length of the spear makes it so that the angle he is pointing at has to be an impossible angle. The switching of grip has to be well executed and fast.
After aiming for the jugular, the spearhead moves dangerously aiming at the face. Because of the angle, only the spearhead is an issue. The body of the spear cannot exert enough force if it was used to smash. At the same time the trajectory of the spearhead can also be affected by the assailant pushing on the spear.
It is an almost vertical angle from the toes to the head, slightly leaning forward. It's a very awkward, hard to maneuver angle that was nonetheless dangerous as it is right now.
The other person finds it hard to pin Varsas down.
"He he"
Certainly it would be better if the engagement distance was increased because Varsas is using a spear.
However he was the hero that ended the war, as in he is used to using all kind of weapons.
The impact between a sword made with rune techniques in the future and a training normal spear end exactly as you expected. The spearhead snaps and bends after the first time they have an actual exchange.
"This is..." The other person says.
Another problem with the current fight is the fact that it is happening inside Varsas very home. At the scale of certain people, one wrong move could destroy the entire house.
Especially with Liana Gungnir, Varsas's mother is already a casualty of the first wave of conflict even though the other party's attack was made with barehand and was very "gentle".
"He he he..."
No matter how he spins it there is no winning for a certain Varsas Gungnir here. Most likely when it was happening right in his own home, he has already lost the battle.
The other party is unlikely to be someone who is going to go down due to an improvised hit with not much destructive power but Varsas was going to try anyway.
As expected, the spearhead was caught with the left hand while his right hand is struggling with pushing back the other guy. It is a distraction but what come next was very real.
He jabs the broken spearhead deeply into the other person's side hip, deeply into his kidney. And instead of being showy and noneffective just like the rest of this battle, it actually bit deeply into the assailant's side, drawing blood, even through the armour.
Effective at any range with all kind of weapons.
Of course that includes daggers. Though it's more like a shank in this case.
Both of Varsas Gungnir hands is surprisingly versatile
His left hand can exert enough force just like his right hands, and it was dexterous enough to grab the falling spearhead while the rest of his body language is drawing the other person attention.
"You-"
"What's going on here?"
Lufa rushes to the scene upon hearing the commotion. She was near the practice field anyway.
At that moment, that little appearance decided everything
