After Livus, Celes took her turn to introduce herself. "Hello, my name's Celes."
"That's it?"
Celes felt awkward and embarrassed. "Well, I don't have any special family name," she sheepishly said while fidgeting. "...and I'm just a commoner so I don't really have much to say."
A commoner? They were all surprised. No simple commoner could enter Magic high for the entrance exam alone would be very hard and entering in their school was a commoner's pipe-dream. One needs resources and wealth to study or they could not enter the school.
Magic high not is called an elite school for no reasons. Countless rulers and greatest mages all graduated there. A commoner who managed to enter there would sure have a good future.
"Say, what rank are you in?" Lux interrogated her full of interest.
Rank? Realizing something, she quickly explained, "No, what I mean is, I'm just from the common realm, I'm not a noble."
The nobles whom are ranked D and E, even F in rare cases are the ones who are treated as commoners as they need protection from higher ranked families that they live in cities own by those ranked high.
Their kind is way to common they became commoners even though they were on the noble realm. Whereas, the ones in the common realm had almost gone extinct. There are at most 5% of the whole human population. As such, they were mostly not noticed, but if they were, they will be treated lower than commoners and they were lucky to only be slaves.
The children stared at her in awe. A person from the common realm, they had never seen one before.
Her hair was multi-colored and all the colors were pastel. It was common knowledge that appearances are also the result of magic especially the hair and eyes.
They still sense some magical energy from her, so they could only conclude that she's a fallen.
They stared at her intensely she can't help but shudder.
"A fallen huh?" said Kin
Even Livius became interested and looked at her. "Do you know any family history or something similar?"
"N-no, my mother hasn't said anything." She replied.
"She's not much of a fallen though. The rules don't apply to her anymore." Airi proclaimed.
"Oh? What makes you say that?" Asa gazed at him.
"That's because she's currently staying with Kishi and Kira." Airi stated as a matter-of-factly.
"What...?! No fair!!" Rex protested. He turned to look at Kishi and pouted. "Kishi you're so mean!! Why didn't you say you're living with a pretty sister like her?!"
Startled, Kishi retorted. "What! Are you some sort of pervert?!! Besides, the palace is so big we barely even meet each other."
Unwilling to listen, "No fair!!" Rex said still.
"Rex don't flatter yourself." Yin sighed. "You only wanted to use her so satisfy your curiosity about commoners, isn't that right Yang?"
"Shut up."
Damn nobles! They were actually making fun of her. Don't they know that their words are offending? Celes was exasperated but she could only sigh inwardly.
Still....they are all pretty weird, but they seem fun.
"Hmm..." Mythica pondered. "Kishi and Kira's home huh? I wanna go..."
"No way...." The youngest boys protested.
"That place is hell; I would never go back there." Rex said.
"What? Do you have something against it?" Kishi questioned him, not bothering to hide his murderous cold aura.
"U-uh... no, not at all. But Celes is pretty interesting, don't you think?" Rex said eager to change the topic.
Confused, Celes can't help but ask. "What's a fallen? Is there something wrong with it?"
Livius smiled at her and begun to explain. He seemed interested as well, but not as much as the others.
"The fallen can also be referred as fallen gods or angels. Way back in history, the people, not just the humans, worship and fear the Sacred royals as gods. They were the most powerful among all it's only natural they did but things are not that simple."
He paused and Kira continued as kept her head low, twirling her hair with her finger. "The ten races who worked together to create Harmonia, came with an agreement. 'Harmonia shall be at peace and not face the same fate as Clover'. As such, the humans or simply the mages whose number dominated the land, built five palaces: The Palace of Luck, the Jade. The Palace of Hope, the Life. The Palace of Love and Magic, the Enchanted. The Palace of Faith, the Elemental. And lastly, the fifth palace whose name had been forgotten after centuries, the one most commonly known as the Forbidden Empire."
Kin continued. "The lower Fairies helped the mages create those palaces and became their guardian, vowing to protect those palaces with their lives. Each palace ruled over one-fifth of the world and each have their own roles to fulfil no matter what."
"During the wars when Harmonia met calamity and the people no longer could get along with each other, the palaces declared war against each other, or more specifically, the other four palaces, declared war against the fifth." Kishi stated.
"But there was a rumor." Livius spoke, looking a Celes. "There was a forgotten rumor, they said that there was a sixth palace. But when the wars erupted, the sixth palace could not perform their duty, eventually, they fell form grace and became the fallen."
"Oh! I knew that one!" Miha exclaimed. "During those wars, many died and lost their magic. Those that became the fallen were treated lower than slaves, lost their rights and was banished from being one with the ten races. They were treated like mindless animals that are unable to step where the previously belong. And the fallens not just include the Sacred Royals, but the nobles as well."
"The five palaces faced the great fall after then." Said Aqua. "Three of the five palaces lost all their members and power, yet they remained from existence and fairies protected them still. Among the five, only Jade survived but their empire isolated themselves from the rest of the Harmonia. The fifth became forbidden, therefore called the forbidden empire and no one stepped in their land ever since."
"But the war didn't end even after that. Harmonia never gained peace, the races, kinds, the clans fighting against each other, even between families killing each other did not stop." Added Tsusu.
"That's right sister. For thousands of years, there was only violence. Because of it, the population of Harmonia greatly decreased."
Asa counted his fingers and stated one by one. "It was a calamity. The other races became vile and some gone hiding. The Mages as the biggest, fought against each other resulting extinction of many kinds. The natures elements decreased one by one and countless ceased to exist now in the present."
"The Roses are one example." Airi proclaimed. "In the past, the Red roses used to be the main family and the other colors as branch families. But the clan fought against each other, resulting a massacre, obliterating each other's existence until only the pink and black rose exist. But never did the war end, not until there's nothing left."
"But with the efforts of two generations before us, our parents and our grandparents did everything they could to regain peace. They built an organization to maintain it and reunite the whole world together like it used to before." Said Aspen
"After so many years of effort, did the peace finally returned like the one we used to experience now is because of them. They were at first just classmates that studied here at magic high, then worked together to make their dreams come true." Mythica said.
"Their good relationship lasted and their children eventually became friends just like them. With their love, they created our guild, the Cursed Dragons with the same purpose of maintaining peace between different territories. Their Union of the greatest of families did without doubt created peace." Lennan said with total admiration.
"War only brings death. It only creates sufferings and more and more will cease to exist if it continues. That is why, war shall end and there should be no more." Akame spoke.
"When we get older, would it be our turn to protect peace then?" Rex needlessly asked. "Sounds troublesome." He grumbled.
"You're just lazy" Airi told him.
"Shut up pinky." Rex pouted.
Amili was dumbstruck. She was glad, at least they learned something after her teaching them for a year now. However, she can't help but worry. They have yet to know the truth. The darkness in everything have yet been revealed to them. Once they find out about the ugly truth, would they still accept it as they do now? Well it's not like the things they know now is a lie, but it's only half truth.
