The palace had been very quiet for the whole summer.
It was like how it had always been a year before. It was to quiet and peaceful the silence was deafening.
Although it was peaceful, it didn't mean things are going well.
There was no laughter, the smiles are fake and the misery is being expressed in silence.
Only fairies roam around the humongous and elegant palace. The children kept to themselves and hardly talks to each other. There were no visitors as the whole place were locked.
The paper cranes that deliver mails does not reach its destination. The tamed creatures and familiars had yet seen their masters.
The current situation of the palace is never good. It was not lively at all and the atmosphere is heavily gloomy.
At a distance, the happenings in the Enchanted palace, as well as the twins' actions are being watched.
It was a young boy whose age is at the same as them.
The light coming from the window is the only light illuminating the dark room. The room was not at the Enchanted palace but somewhere far but close.
The boy was sitting at a window seat with his chin resting on his hand. Half of his features were hidden in the dark yet one can see his hair is white.
His eyes were glimmering brightly. It was pure and is blue like the sky yet half of both his eyes were yellow like the sun.
One can also say that the beauty of his sleek face is on par of that the twins.
He wore this sly smile that does not match his age. He neither look innocent nor evil. He just looked full of longing and anticipation.
He held a half black and half pink rose with his free hand and was twiddling it in his fingers.
Staring at the rose, he whispered. "It seems I'll be with you soon."
He then kissed the rose and the petals suddenly came off. They scattered and fluttered in the wind beautifully under the orange-red light of the sunset.
"Livi, my royal prince." A mysterious fairy whom dressed differently than the ones of the Enchanted palace called out.
The boy grinned and stood up.
He took one last glance at the rose petals before he proceeded.
He had watched them ever since he came to this place. He was enticed by their beauty he had always wished to be a part of them, yet never did he expect he would finally meet and be with them.
He can't wait.
*
It was also sunset when he first came to this place.
He had no memories of where he came from or whom his family is. The only thing he can remember is the years he was locked there alone since he was four years old.
Yet even though he can't remember anything before he was four, he always felt like he had stayed there at that window, watching the twins since they first learned to walk and when they first went out to the garden.
That's the only thing he can remember, nothing else.
The following year had also been the same. He was locked in that room for a whole year and he does nothing but watch them play.
They were always full of joy and everything that surrounds them are beautiful. The two of them together are beautiful.
Unfortunately, things suddenly changed. The beautiful scene he always longed suddenly disappeared and he had never seen them since.
He was six years old when he figured who he is. Or at least, what his role in the world is.
It was sunset and he was looking out of the window. He was waiting for the twins to go out and play.
It had been a year and he hadn't seen them thus he patiently waited. Alas, no one came out again and it was already evening.
He heard the door open. He turned around to see who it is and it was just the fairy whom served him ever since he came to there. The only one he knew and could talk to.
"Haya."
The fairy beamed at him and asked. "You always look out through the window, do wish to be free?"
The boy didn't answer, ignoring her and staring at a distance, enjoying the fresh air that kisses his cheeks.
The fairy just stared at him and there was silence until she uttered. "It's been two years. You are our chosen prince yet you still haven't accepted our offer yet. What is it that forces you to hesitate?"
He didn't look at her and continued to stare at the view. "Haya, just as you said, it's been two years. I had no home, and I knew nothing of the outside world. I do not desire to be free. I'm just contented to see something so beautiful yet I hadn't seen it for a long time now. Why?"
The fairy pondered whether she should answer or not for a moment. "I heard one of those twins have been abducted by humans. It was the girl if I 'am not long. The boy on the other hand fell into despair he locked himself in their palace."
"Is that so?"
"Yes." The fairy nodded. "Now, if to see something beautiful is your wish--"
"It's not just something beautiful." He said. "I strongly believe that there is no such thing in the world that is greater than the beauty I have seen. Nothing could be greater than it."
"Well then, if it's so, then what's stopping you to become our prince?"
For once, the boy looked at her. His eyes were really beautiful just like the sky and the sun in a clear and peaceful day. It was so pure and full of longing.
"Haya, if I become your prince just as you ask, will I still be able to see it?"
"Yes, and much more."
"Will I have the power to save it? So that it would always be beautiful?"
He stared at her and fairy hesitated before she answered. "Y-yes, of course you would."
The boy smiled. "Then, I accept."
The fairy then flew closer to him then curtsied. "Livius of the Sun, our chosen one, will you become the one and only prince that will rule over this empire? Will you accept the title as our chosen prince?"
The boy smiled, "Yes, yes I will."
The fairy was delighted by his reply; she smiled.
He reached out his right hand and the fairy held it with both her little hands. She flew slightly lower then bowed, kissing the boy's knuckles gently.
As he beamed at her, she looked at him with a beautiful smile in her face.
"Livius...Haya, is that my name?" The boy asked.
The fairy nodded. "My royal prince, from this moment on, yes, that is your name."
"I'm glad." He was truly happy. He had not known of his name and he thought he doesn't have one. But hearing her say his name, that made him happy.
"Haya."
"Yes, my prince."
"Can you call be my by name? Livi would be fine."
The fairy was slightly taken aback, but she smiled and nodded.
"Then, can we be friends? It was very lonely being here alone, I..."
"Your highness--I mean, Livi, I 'am your guardian. Although it isn't wrong for me to be your friend, it would be more appropriate for me to act as your mother. I hope you can understand that."
"It's fine. As long as you keep me company it's fine." The fairy smiled once again in the child's reply.
From then on, he did become their prince. He worked hard and every time he was free, he would always look through that same window, waiting for them to come out again.
It had been so long and it was only recently did they came back. However, this time, it was not only the two of them but there were more.
He had always watched that beautiful sight for as long as he lived, and seeing that, he wondered whether he could be a part of it too.
It took four years for them to come back, he will not let it disappear once again. Such beauty he will do everything he could to protect it. And while his at it, maybe his wish could become a reality, maybe he can become a part of it too. He can't wait for summer to end.
