Chapter 58 - Chapter 57 Cursed fate

"I heard Meijin already told them the truth"

Sychi nodded "Yes, he did"

Without looking at her, Apollo asked "How much did he tell them exactly?"

Sychi gave him a stern look. "From what I can see, they are still just as innocent as before" he continued "I bet you haven't told them everything yet. Why? Don't they need to know already?"

"They are still far too young" Sychi disagreed

With a sigh, Apollo placed the pestle down the table and questioned Sychi with a dry laugh

"Young? How much longer are you keeping this a secret? Until the worst had happened? Sychi, the time is running. They still might be young as you say, but fate isn't going to wait for them until it happened. Just so you know, it's already beginning"

"I know..."

"Then why?!"

"Apollo, the children can't take it" Sychi reminded him

With another sigh, Apollo faced her "I know you care for them, but I believe it is best for them to be apart rather than to be together"

"No" Sychi persisted

"They are cursed with four of the five unliftable curses in the world. The Curse of the 'Sacred Vows', Curse of 'Immortality', Curse of 'Endless Rebirth', and 'Contradiction'. They are destined to follow the same steps as their predecessors and repeat what happened a million years in the past. You can't change that. One of them will perish in the others hand while the other will be consumed with rage and destroy the world with their infinite power, and there's nothing you can do about it!" Apollo reminded her

"Were gonna make it happen! Just as the guild and Lady Amira intended to"

"You can't just change the fate of the Clover"

"Oh, screw that stupid fate! Were gonna save them and that's that!"

"How naïve!"

Sychi sighed, "That's enough. Even if we did as you say and separate them, fate will just make them meet each other in the end. Just as you said it, you can't change it no matter what you do. So, why not just let the children have fun and enjoy themselves before the worst-case-scenario had happened"

There was a moment of silence between them. Apollo picked up the pestle and continued what he was doing, while Sychi merely stared at the window.

"Sychi, I understand that the Lady asked you to do so, but aren't you taking this a bit too far?"

Sychi looked at him, "What do you mean?"

"You loved them, don't you?"

Sychi was stuck with a sudden realization. She never thought about it at first, but now that she did, maybe she really did love them.

"What if I did?"

"Sychi, as guardians of the sacred realm and the palaces, it is our duty to serve the Royals. But may I remind you, that it is also our duty to protect the realm and palace"

"What's that gotta do with anything?"

Apollo sighed and told her yet again "The Royals and so are we are cursed, but these children are far worse. They are a threat to this world."

"So, what do you expect me to do?" Sychi asked, slightly exasperated

Apollo opened his mouth to speak, but no words left as he realized that someone else was there. The two of them turned to the other window, only to see Kail appearing there from golden glitters of light.

"Oh, did I perhaps interfere in your conversation? My apologies"

"Oh no, Princess" Said Apollo

"We just didn't expect you to come here all of a sudden" Sychi added

"If you insist"

Kail, walked over to Kira and sat beside her and caressed her hair

"You know...I kinda over heard what you were talking about earlier, and I dare say it's inappropriate for you to talk about it in the presence of the child" She said looking at Kira with pity

"Our mistake. But I assure you, the child won't know anything when she wakes up" Apollo assured her

"Perhaps, but you never know when the unexpected will happen"

The two of them didn't argue any further and remained silent. Kail let out a sigh and said,

"But you know, thinking about the future is so difficult. Especially when you realize that all things wouldn't go the way you wanted them to and just like us, these children would have to face the same pain we the elders have gone through. It felt just like yesterday when we first founded the guild, then after a few days, Kiyomi sensei died. Not so long after Asaki perished from his magic destroying his own body, then Amira and Jen, then Aby, Kirai, and Shiyomi. How much long can we hold on, as one by one we all die. What about these children? Would they just die like us? I don't want to think about the guilds plan failing and those who already died be in vain. No matter what, we must save these children, that goes for these two too. We have to..."

Sychi, and Apollo just stared at her. She appeared to be in pain. They wish not to continue this conversation any further so Sychi asked, hoping to change the subject.

"Anyway, Princess, what brings you here today?"

She looked at her for a moment before remembering what she went there for

"Oh, right! I was here to convey a message from the guild"

"A message?" Apollo and Sychi looked at each other "That's weird, we didn't receive any. Sorry to have bothered you Princess, but I'll make sure the other fairies don't slack on their job" said Sychi

"Oh, no! I personally received the message directly, no need to bother yourselves about it"

"Is that so? Then I'm glad"

"Anyway, here's what it says--!!"

Kail was about to explain when she felt that someone was standing behind the door. She looked at it warily, yet the other two didn't seem to notice and just looked at where she was looking.

"Kishi, darling, come in, I know you're there"

Hearing what she said, Apollo and Sychi was thunderstruck. They didn't know he was there or how long and how much has he heard.

Kishi slowly entered the room and tried not to look guilty, nor to look into anyone's eyes.

"I was just passing by to see if Kira already awake" he said

Kail smile at him and replied "I'm afraid Kira's still asleep"

"I see..."

He moved closer to his sister and placed something on her hand, while Kail and the other two just watched him.

"Another present? You haven't forgotten to give something to her every year, and in your birthday, even when she was gone. What about you? Are you expecting Kira to give you something in return?" Kail asked

Kishi shook his head and answered "No, I don't care if Kira didn't give me anything. I just want her to be alright and happy, that's enough for me"

Kail beamed at his reply.

She remembered it when they gave the two of them a pair of enchanted pots. It was meant to be a storage that will never be full no matter how much you put on it. It was made out of crystal and was really beautiful.

The two of them shares everything, but they wanted encourage them to have their own personal belongings, that's why they gave both of them each. Ever since the received it, the two of them gives each other a gift that they keep on the crystal pots. But even on those four years that Kira wasn't there, Kishi never forgets to put something in hers.
