Chereads / Immortal Duan Cai / Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

The mansion door slowly shut behind Duan Cai as he walked inside and saw Leon standing off to the side with his back against the wall and a cigarette in his mouth. At first glance someone could almost assume he was spacing out entirely as he gazed towards the floor while enjoying the cigarette, but as he entered the mansion Leon's eyes soon found their way towards him. It was obvious that he was waiting to find out what Lester had wanted with him.

"Well? What did the light boy want?" Leon asked before taking another inhale of his cigarette.

"Well.. mother.. the neighborhood kid simply wanted to play~" Duan Cai sighed and said mockingly with a smile.

"Cut that shit out I'm being entirely serious here!" Leon slammed his free hand in a fist against the wall as he glared at Duan Cai. His teeth almost smashing the cigarette in his mouth if he wasn't careful towards his own actions.

"Yeah, Yeah, I know you are." Duan Cai nodded as he walked across the room towards Leon.

"So? What was it?" Leon asked again as he watched him carefully.

"Just that the Kaen sect is working with the Shadow sect to hunt me down.. I already figured they would do something sooner or later." Duan Cai paused where he was and tilted his hat back to smile at Leon as if he was proud of something.

"What the hell did you do, Cai?" Leon couldn't help but speak his boss's name out as he felt like something ominous was going on in Duan Cai's mind. He knew Duan Cai was new to the underworld society and he had a bad feeling about why Duan Cai was acting so care free over the fact that a major sect was looking for ways to hunt him down.

"Nothing major.. really." Duan Cai shrugged.

"Really now?" Leon glared intensely as if searching for something in Duan Cai's words.

"Well.. There was this one thing I might have done to piss them off?" He spoke as if he was asking himself a question.

"What would that be, boss?" Leon grit his teeth as he asked again to know what the boss had done.

"I might have killed their patriarch's son about a month ago?" Duan Cai smiled innocently.

"Fucking Hell?! I thought you said you did something small?! That is not small at all, Duan Cai!" Leon punched the wall again as he tried his best to refrain from punching Duan Cai himself.

The Patriarch is the owner of a sect and Leon's boss had gone and killed the son of one. It was not just any simple patriarch either. It was the leader of one of the largest sects in the city itself. The patriarch of Kaen sect was a sect owner that was powerful in many ways and they trained their cultivators in the way of fire. If Leon had to fight a Kaen Cultivator personally than there was a good chance he would be on equal standing with them unless there was a decent gap between their levels due to the fact they used the same style in cultivation. He had once been involved in Kaen so he knew their style personally.

"It's all fine." Duan Cai sighed as he saw the worried expression on Leon's face.

"It's not fine, Cai! You pissed off someone who easily topple our sect! You're our main standing point in society as it is. If they somehow manage to end you it will lead to the downfall of Dragon Syndicate that you created." Leon sighed and tried to calm himself down.

"I know all that, but I can deal with them if the time comes. Besides I got someone I can ask for details from if I need it."

"Who?" Leon inhaled his cigarette as he thought about it and could not figure out who Duan Cai could possibly know from Kaen or Shadow sect.

"Simple.. just this lost pup that keeps following me around." Duan Cai smiled as he thought about the ninja that he's had on his tail for a while now.

"I am not going to bother with asking you anymore because I know it's just going to give me a major migraine and for the sake of my health I don't want to bother with that right now.. This conversation alone feels like I lost nearly half my life to a heart attack." Leon looked like he had a shadow over his face as he was thinking over all the possible outcomes of the future problems.

"Just leave it all to me and you do your own thing. I will be heading to bed now." Duan Cai said as he slowly went up the stairway to head off to his room for the night. It was obvious when looking at him that he did not feel the least bit worried about all the trouble that was going to come looking for him when most people would be shaking from the nerve of it all.

"He truly is a Royal Dragon.. doesn't give a shit about anything yet will destroy anything in his way without batting an eye." Leon sighed as he watched his boss head upstairs in silence. Looking at Duan Cai from behind as he ascended the mansion stairs to bed gave off a strange elegance, pride, and royalty to him that could cause someone to assume he had once been a prince. If Leon and the others that worked for Duan Cai had not known that he had started off a simple poor kid they could easily mistake him from a royal palace prince that had run away from home to the underworld. It was almost mystical to the eye to witness every time.

A silent and soft humming noise started to fill the air as a relaxing and elegant voice slowly began to fill the mansion. It was a song, a soft and elegant singing voice coming from the vocals of Duan Cai as he slowly paced himself towards his bed for the night. Everyone that was within ear shot of the song would pause and listen. His vocal singing was like it was from another world and could easily swoon any maid and cause them to blush at his voice. It was not until Duan Cai had entered his room that the mansion returned to silence as everyone paused to take in the moment they had all just enjoyed. Just as they all enjoyed when their boss would use his violin his vocal as well was something that would easily win their hearts in the blink of an eye.

If heaven was on earth, for the Dragon Syndicate Sect, it was surely the Inferno Nexus Mansion.
