Chapter 30 - Liver and Lungs

I frowned but rubbed my forehead in order to hide it. I actually meant him walking around naked. But this was good too. Considering it was new information which he shared on his own.

"I didn't know you had one," I said, trying to keep my tone light.

"It was a long time ago." He placed the box on the table and reached for his boxer. "Before I even came to Tokyo."

Did you love her? I wanted to ask, but instead, I said, "Do you want a drink?"

Without waiting for his reply, I stood up and sauntered towards the kitchen, trying to shake off something unsettling and peculiar. Kawashita passed by just as I opened the refrigerator. I craned my neck to see him went inside the bathroom.

I got two cans of beer and hollered, "Wait. You're underage. You drank beer, and you were smoking."

I stood in front of the door to the hallway with beers in hand when he stepped out, fully dressed down to his socks. Was he going home already? My voice faltered. "How long have you been doing that?"

Reddening, Kawashita put a hand on the back of his neck and cleared his throat. "It hasn't been that long. I don't really smoke as well. What you gave me last week was my first beer."

I narrowed my eyes at him and then shrugged. "You should lay off on cigarettes until you turn twenty then I won't mind if you smoke in here. Either way, it's up to you. Just don't smoke here until your birthday. Be careful on your way back."

Turning around, I yawned and popped open one of the cans. I heard him follow me.

"I thought you were hungry," he said behind me.

"I'm okay now." I took several gulps of beer.

Kawashita sighed. "You don't like me commenting about how you abuse your liver, but you're mad because I smoked."

I whirled and faced him, frowning. "I'm not mad."

"Are you sure?" He crossed his arms. "You certainly look like it."

"I wasn't before, but I am now." I huffed, putting a hand of my hips. "Why would I care if you burn out your lungs?"

"Yes. Why would you?" His scowl deepened. "We're not anything to each other. We just fuck. That's all."

Gritting my teeth, glaring, I stepped closer to him and tilted my head up. "Aren't you leaving?"

His face fell as if realizing the weight of our words. He opened his mouth and closed it again.

"Well?" I prompted.

"Do you want me to go?" His voice dropped.

I hesitated. Did I want him to leave? Why was I even angry in the first place? But his words stung. I gulped. "Do you still want to fuck?"

Kawashita flinched and his shoulders slumped. He blew out a breath before he took the open can from me and drank most of it. His voice was rough. "I always want to fuck you."

He brought the can to his lips again, finishing it then crushing it after. He cocked his head. "Shall I go?"

"I think you should."

Sighing, he nodded before he stepped back. I watched him turned around without a word until he swayed, putting his hand on the wall. I rushed to him, surprised.

"Kawashita-kun, are you okay?" I touched his elbow.

He looked at me, chuckling. "I'm embarrassing. I don't know how you do that."

"Are you drunk?"

"I'm not." He straightened. "Though I'm a little dizzy."

"I'm sure you are." I tightened my hold on his elbow. "Why don't you sit down first?"

"Didn't you want me to leave?"

"Because you were being an ass." I put his arm around my shoulders. "Come on. Drink some coffee before you leave."

After depositing Kawashita on the sofa, I went to make him some coffee. The bitter aroma filled the room as I walked back to him.

"I didn't know you were telling the truth." I placed the cup on the table and stood in front of him.

"Why would I lie about that?" He raised his head.

"Because you're a horny smoking nineteen years old boy." I jutted out my hips and eyed him. "And because I lied about that when I was your age."

"How young did you begin drinking?"

"I was a heavy drinker by sixteen."

Kawashita looked down before he grabbed my hand. "I'm sorry. I was the one who got mad."
