The mood after that went uphill. We finished our not so good udon and drank our beer side by side. Our conversation flowed easily as well. We talked about the food and the weather. He even asked about Kazuya.
"You seemed pretty close," he commented.
"We are. He's the first close friend I made after being a loner in high school."
"It's true, then?"
"What?" I put down my empty can, stood, and walked towards the kitchen.
"Your ex is your first boyfriend."
"Well, yeah. Did you hear it from Tachibana-senpai?" I called as I opened the refrigerator. "You want another?"
"No, and yes, I heard it from him." He tilted his head towards me. "I thought you're the type of girl who gets confessed at least once a month."
"Don't be silly. That doesn't happen in real life." I sauntered back to him and plopped beside him. "And if you really want to know, I was too busy studying in high school. Don't tell me you get confessed every month, and that's why you want me to act as your girlfriend to ward off the girls."
Kawashita chuckled. "You're the one who told me that doesn't happen in real life, and you're right."
"But you're famous."
"I am not."
"You are." I shook my head. "You have plenty of followers. The people in your school called me one of your fans when I asked where I could find you."
"I am not." He pinched my nose. "How many times do I have to tell you? I was curious about you. I don't need you as a girl repellant. You being my girlfriend and me being your boyfriend is just an added bonus to this."
"Fine, fine, Mr. I'm-Not-Famous-But-My-Friend-Recognized-Your-Name." I rolled my eyes and laughed when he nudged me. "Anyway, shall we get on it? Tell me your rules first."
Kawashita sat up straight. "I only have two. Sex and privacy."
His rules were simple. Sex—he could ask whenever he wanted as long as it's in decent time and place, and both parties agreed. He added that I could also ask him the same thing. However, there was a catch. If he didn't get sex for at least once in three consecutive weeks, he could sleep with any girls. Of course, despite being disagreeable, I agreed provided it had to be discreet. If he were to sleep with someone else, no one could ever know about it.
Privacy—I had no right to interfere with his life. My life was mine, and his was his. I could ask about his friends, hobbies, classmates, even family, or current whereabouts, but I could never comment about it.
"Don't nag," he said.
I rolled my eyes at him. As if I would ever do that. This rule didn't need to be said. What usually ticked me off was the unnecessary and persistent concern.
"It's your turn." He nodded at me.
Tying my hair into a high bun, I grabbed my bag from the sofa, took out a piece of paper and handed it to him. I watched him scanned the entire paper as I opened my third can of beer and took a long sip.
"Wow." He glanced at me. "You seriously thought about this, huh."
Of course. I didn't want to fall in love with you and get thrown into the pits of hell of heartbreak. I had to protect myself. But I didn't say that to him. I just smiled.
"Is this all?" He waved the paper.
I nodded, taking another long sip. I had thought about it. Maybe more than I should have.
"I'm okay with number one." He placed the paper on the table.
1. No sending messages other than things that actually mattered.
"About number two," he added, his voice dropping. "I'm sorry about earlier. As I have said, it won't happen again."
Looking at the second item, I flinched.
2. No surprise visits for both parties. One must call or message first.
Seeing that it already happened, I was being honest earlier when I said I didn't mind it so much. The umbrella and the udon were beyond helpful. But I wasn't going to change it now.
"I think I got number three covered," Kawashita said.
"You're right. Let me just add your condition." I grabbed a pen and wrote.
3. No cheating without the consent of the other party unless party A, I, broke your first rule and this includes flirting with others publicly.
"The rest seems easy enough." Kawashita nodded and smirked. "You don't have to worry about a thing."
I read what I wrote again:
4. No interfering with private life. Private life includes decisions, school stuff, family, friends, who's the other party is seeing, places where the other party is going, and other things that the other party might feel uncomfortable sharing with the other party.
5. No sleepover allowed unless unforeseen circumstances occurred that prevented the other party from leaving, i.e. typhoon, earthquake, or other natural calamities.
6. No one must know about this. If this rule is broken, the agreement must be terminated.
"Do I have to sign this or something?" he asked.
