Edmond Lattone's POV
I stopped right out of the house that belonged to one petite lady named Lyana Debaux. We were not talking to her house as I was not ready. I know that because Lyana was fidgeting her fingers and she was looking outside the car, all the time.
I sighed before I was about to talk to Lyana before she was getting out of the car as she slammed the door. I unfastened my seatbelt as I was getting out of the car as well.
"Lyana, wait!" I said as I was coming after her before Lyana was fumbling with her keys.
"No, it's fine, Edmond. Really," she said before I turned her around and she was looking at me before her eyes were glassy.
Was she…crying?
"Lyana, are you crying?" I asked her like a dumb fool. What is wrong with me?!
Lyana laughed humorlessly before she was wiping her eyes. Yup, she was crying.
"No, I just got dust in my eyes. They are dangerous," she said bitterly before I was pulling her wrist and I was looking into her eyes. I did not care what was happening after this but all I know was that I have to calm her down.
And the only way that I can do it was to kiss her. And kissed her, I did.
I was pulling her hair in my hand before I was pulling her head slowly as she was arching her head to me. She moaned as I was plunging my tongue inside her mouth. It tasted jasmine and mint.
I guessed I have my new favorite flavor.
I broke the kiss as I need to breathe before I was looking at Lyana. Her eyes were dilated and her face was blushing.
"Do not think that after I tasted you, I will ignore you. I'm sorry if the investigation was getting in our way but I promise you I will be done with it and come home to you, my love," I said before Lyana was smiling at me.
"I am not mad. I was just…angry. But not at you, it was at me," she said quietly before she was looking at the ground. I was blinking my eyes before I was pulling at her chin to look at me.
"What do you mean?" I asked Lyana before she sighed.
"It's nothing. The director of the museum that I was working at was being an ass to me right now about the Ancient Greece exhibition that I was working on with my colleague," she said as I was nodding at her.
"I'm sure you can handle it. I mean, you're the best at this job, right?" I joked with her before Lyana was shaking her head.
"Well, maybe if I was not tooting my own horn," she said before she was smiling at me. I smiled at her as well before I kissed her forehead.
"I see you tomorrow?" I asked her as she was smiling at me before she kissed me on the lips.
"I see you around, Edmond," she said as she was hugging me. I hugged her back before I was rubbing my hands on her back. I felt safe in her arms.
"I should go," I said as Lyana sighed.
"Yeah, but I don't want you to,"
"I know, I have the same urge but I think I will be suspended if I didn't by Pierre," I said before Lyana laughed at me.
"You are one funny man, Edmond Lattone," Lyana said as I was tucking her midnight hair behind her ear. I kissed her nose.
"I miss you,"
"We just went on one date,"
"I know but these feelings are unusual for me and I know my heart was beating for you," I whispered before Lyana put me at her arm's length. I laughed before I was stepping down from the stairs as I was walking back to my car. Lyana was still standing at the door as she was leaning against the door.
I smiled as I went inside the car and I was shifting the gear to D before I was speeding off to the Louvre before my jaws clenched with the news that Pierre just told me.
I parked my car before I was out of the car and I was showing my badge to the guard before they allowed me inside the crime scene. I was looking at the forensics that was taking pictures and the flashes filled the room.
"Pierre, what the hell happened?" I asked as I was putting the gloves on my hands. Pierre sighed before he was nodding at the Gems of the World exhibition.
"I don't think that La Femme Bleu would not be showing up but something was missing," Pierre said before he was showing me to the gems that were on the display. I was looking at them before I saw that something was missing.
"What was it?"
"It's the Citrine of Greece. It's missing," he said as I was taking out my UV lamp and I was scanning the area. It has no fingerprints so I know it was the work of the professional thief.
"Who would you guess?"
"La Femme Bleu?" Pierre said as I was shaking my head.
"No, this was not her style because after every thieving she would leave a card to make some note of her success. But this one was nothing. There was no card, no fingerprints. Nothing. I might say it was an inside job but I don't think we can see on the CCTVs?" I asked as Pierre was nodding at me before he went to talk with the police and I was making my way to the CCTVs room.
I was pulling up the footage from the day before this happened. I would say it was in 24 hours but there was nothing. I was looking at the footage before I saw that there was nothing. Then I just found out that the Citrine of Greece was not there from the beginning of the exhibition.
"Huh, strange," I said before I was leaving the room and Pierre was coming at me. His face was distraught.
"Anything?"
"There is. It seems that the Citrine of Greece has been missing since the beginning of the exhibition. Can I ask who was responsible to oversee those gems?" I asked as Pierre was rubbing his temples. Gosh, I think this guy will be forty if this continued. The grey hair was showing on his fair hair.
"I don't know if you can catch her or not. She's Lena Ferranti that was a colleague to Lyana Debaux. She was supposed to be in Sicily for the exhibition of Ancient Greece that she was in charged with,"
"Yeah, Lyana told me about that," I said as Pierre was arching his eyebrow at me. I looked at him.
"What?"
"So, Ms. Debaux tells you about her current project?"
"Yeah, what about it? It was common for friends to share," I said as I was making some notes to ask Lyana about Lena Ferranti. Pierre snickered
"Sure,'' he said as I was closing the notebook and I turned to look at him.
"What was that supposed to mean?" I asked as I was arching my eyebrow at him. He chuckled before he was patting my shoulder.
"It would seem that the seductive Ms. Debaux has someone that fancies her interest," he said as I was arching my eyebrow at him even more.
"What do you mean?"
"Oh, nothing much. It's just that Lyana was not the type of person to have an interest in someone," Pierre said as he was looking me up and down as if I was being judged right now.
"Especially someone that was a foreigner. So tell me, what was your secret to get her? Surely not the bilingual that you were speaking with," Pierre said as I was rolling my eyes at him.
"As if I know. I was just showing my interest in her and she just liked me for who I was. Nothing fancy," I said before I was smiling like an idiot. Pierre laughed before he shook his head.
"Liar," he said before I sighed.
"Whatever you want to think, I have nothing but want to get to know Ms. Debaux even more. So if you excuse me, I wanted to wrap this up as a false investigation and mistake on the administration of the museum," I said as Pierre was shrugging and he went to talk with the police for the information that I had.
As I was making my way to the Gems of the World exhibition, I saw someone that I was not expecting.
La Femme Bleu in her full glory.
